Thanks for the videos. It was fun to follow your season.
Looking more like a mountain biker each day with those slick line choices.
Thanks for all the videos this season! See you next year!
Hell yeah brother, looked like fun!
Thanks for all the great course coverage this season!
9:23 love that, pin a number on :).
This was NCCX #9 in Raleigh at Dix Park. NCCX #2 was also in Raleigh, but was at Lions Park. Love you so much thank you for these videos! 🫶
Saw myself spectating in the first lap near where you almost ran into that photographer haha. Was interested in when this video was coming out to see how the course was. Good stuff! The NC State crit recently has been a tandem event with UNC, where we do the road race and then UNC does the crit. I've done that dix crit once and it was my first crit, super sketch on the road pitch. Don't remember the name of those stairs...
These are some really cool courses you've been racing in North Carolina. Whoever designs these courses really knows how to build a CX course.
Tim Hopkins is the goat ❤
"Not very technical" is kind of an understatement. Was not a "hard" course - riding it at warp speed, off the front, was hard. Course needs some features.
5 out of 5 course. You're not the only one who doesn't bunny hop anything 🙂.
Good vibes in Davidson that day.
woooof 😮💨 that Roanoke rocket 🚀start 😅 These videos are awesome!
One of my favorite courses in the series 💕 Loved all the attention to detail, painted roots, fresh sand, super fun flyover, etc.
Great work!
Rock & roll🤘
Loving these 🫶
🥳
Did you touch the drops any time in this race?
This is definitely a 5 out of 5 'cross course. No barrier dismounts, but I think the Giants set of stairs more than makes up for that 🙂. If I wasn't so far away in the Great Lakes region, I would love to do that race.
Love your videos of these. What bike and tires you running?
Awesome video, great work as always
What is your CX bike?
1:36 I'm running 650b Wheels with 47 mm tires on my gravel bike for cyclocross this year, those big balloon size tires plow through the sand pits on most runs 😎.
Is it just me or does it look like your levers aren't turned inward as much in this video?
Was about to say the same thing...
Thats sick, nice edit, makes me wanna try it.
Awesome video! Did this race after not having done cross since 2015. Being on my gravel bike with 45mm gravel tires was a challenge. First race of the day so grass was still a bit slick but it was a ton of fun.
Nice! That course was a unique one!
This makes the first lap (from where I was) make so much more sense with your position.
9:05 what are you holding?
powdered donut!
3:56 that was me at the first cross race this season in the middle of September... I'm not sure why but I knocked over or hit probably five or six of those tape pegs 🧐🤓🧐😀. I think I might have even snapped one 😀.
How do you like the hoods turned in for CX? I thought that was more of an aero thing for road. Is it more comfortable and how does it impact handling?
I do it purely based on comfort. No issue with rough terrain.
@@newtypecycling I had to fix the bar tape on my B bike so I went ahead and turned the shifters in. I'll try it out at my practice race Tuesday night.
Love this and seeing the course from another perspective! Thanks for racing with us! Looking forward to the rest of the season!
1:30 well... 😀... I've done two cross races so far this season on a Salsa Journeyer 🙂. Now I am using 650b wheels with 47 mm tires on it. And granted it's not quite as maneuverable as an actual cyclocross bike, but for not having a cross bike anymore the gravel bike works just fine especially with those 650s on it. The only time I pedal striked with the gravel bike was in very off camber sections. I'm not even remotely competitive in cross, I'm doing it for the fun and the workout.
Also, still bigger than the RR regional champ field
@@camdensimon1935 how big was the RR field? Which age, category ?
14 people for a REGIONAL championship? What has happened to US Cycling?
Agreed...... I think there are several issues. One being, with Fondos becoming more common and popular, I think that is scratching the racing itch for a lot of people in a way that is less pressure and more fun as they always have big events and parties to follow. Secondly, I've talked to a lot of people who try it and they give up being extremely frustrated with the combining of 4 & 5 fields as well as combining 3s with either 4 or 1/2. The result is that they are not motivated to try because they are always racing with cyclist at a MUCH higher level. USAC and promoters are killing the desire of entry level adult racing when you force them to race with more experienced/advanced Racers. They REALLY REALLY need to keep the fields separated to motivate people to want to try 5. 5 Racers are tomorrow's 2/1 field. Most are not motivated to try when they know they're going to get slaughtered their first try out
3:47 What team is your friend from in Charlotte?
Awesome footage and race breakdown. What cameras are you using?
8:12 oh, this is a neat format then. when you were saying stage races, I was thinking there was like hours in between the races. This is almost like doing race repeats then, race, you get two laps to get your act back together and then hit it again.
Hey man, this is awesome commentary! Do you mind if I pull this footage for a video I'm making? I was in blue and crashed at 5:00. I'll leave a link to your video in my description.
Sorry man but, no. Not interested.
@@newtypecycling You don't need to do anything. I can download the video from UA-cam. I'm just asking if it's okay to include the crash clip in my own video.
@@VSCycling I said no. Recommend you pull your video down and remove my footage.
Wouldn't have been so aggressive in the start when John Paul disrupted everything. Had you saved a few matches you could have held that lead. Consistently dipping into zone 5 will kill your maximum power output by the end of the race.
What’s your @ let us pay you for this coaching
@newtypecycling , just an observation. Wouldn't take my words too seriously.
🔥🔥🔥
Enjoyed your video I did most of my racing in late 70s early 80s strung out speed back, then was 25 miles an hour my first bike was a five speed for Critz. We use track pedals half the cage sawn off so that it wouldn’t hit the pavement in the corners.
I read Newtype but I didn't pay attention to the channel logo but the Gundam noise got me!
WHAT?! that's a cat 4 power?!
I wanted that bridge so bad and thought logan was playing me when he rotated through, but I cracked ever so short of making it up to the break 😅 normalized about 365 that day..
Be awesome to come out to one of these could learn a lot
The whole peloton owes Bryce a beer
8:07 oh yes, that classic 'oh they can't stay away'.... 'oh hey guys they are getting away' 😀.
I don't see number, is this an unofficial training event?
