IMO, she doesnt want Shuichi to feel rejected, so she tries to 'take responsibility' for their breakup on her own, but Shuichi also knows it and said "俺も同じこと考えてた (I was thinking about the same thing)" to share responsibility. She didn't reject him and taichi just take it like a rejection because chihaya didn't elaborate it, taichi didn't even hear it because of the bell and chihaya's voice is too quiet but then he think that it was (Gomen) (sorry) but chihaya can't elaborate, I think there's also a panel in the manga that chihaya is panicking and saying to herself a "realization" Chihaya: I remember something odd (she remembers hearing a little of the conversation of ooe-san and taichi about if taichi is still inlove with her but then she remembers it in the middle of match for the Queen title ) she's saying to herself panicking :No that's not it that's not it) I didn't know if no one notice that (panel) and didn't question that scene;manga panel . when she heared that she's actually thinking of her practice to watarai so I think because shes preoccupied at that moment she didn't realize that she didn't answer taichi property leading taichi to think that she reject him. To think that she remembers it in the middle of the match she couldn't say a thing to taichi to explain 234 page 5 in the manga So in that Game(5/5 Queen title) she put one of taichi's best card the SE card for taichi that card is his: "a card I like" I forget the meaning of the poem in that card she sent that as a message to Taichi beause he finally arrived at that match (234 page 33 manga panel) Taichi cried there (234 page 40) There just alot of things go unnoticed it this anime haysss
