Six years ago, we had a bunch convoy to the American Truck History Society’s 2016 National Convention and Truck Show. The group took 2 days to get from Reno, NV to Salem and the truck show with a lay-down at La Pine, Oregon. This is day one of t...

Short one minute forty second video of my favorite truck in the Art Robinson Truck Museum - Salina, Utah. Home to the annual September ATHS Rocky Mountain Chapter. This beautiful rig is a wonderful example of a truck used in the lumber trade in the 1950s and 1970s. Restored by master restoration expert Bruce Thomas and purchased by Art Robinson.

Roadway Safety Stories #37
Переглядів 1,1 тис.2 роки тому
This "Safety Story" documents what needs to be done during a Hazmat spill. It uses a real incident to establish an order to be used to mitigate the situation. Roadway Express driver Steve Redman appears in this story about a spill that happened during one of his runs. Good Job Steve!
Drop and Hook Procedures Kwik Loc

There were two brands of adjustable convertor dollies used by Roadway that convert a two axle tractor to a three axle tractor. The Jiflox brand, which there is all ready a video on this channel, then the Kwik-Loc brand. This training video is for the Kwik-Loc system. Color, sound and a runtime of 21 minutes and 30 seconds. Hope you enjoy this peek back in history, 34 years ago.

As the title mentions, it about cold weather starting Roadway trucks and the diesel forklifts. It is color and sound and runs 8 minutes. Tractor used in the video, Macks, Whites, Internationals and Ford C models. Hope it brings back those memories for the old timers, and interests the newer drivers.

An Introduction to Kevin Cimmiyotti's 1966 Peterbilt 281.
Переглядів 2,8 тис.3 роки тому
I first met Kevin Cimmiyotti and his wonderful Peterbilt 281 at the annual Redwood Chapter show in Napa California about three years ago. I was absolutely taken back by Kevin's truck. The first 3 or 4 photos and the first video scene are from that show. Kevin did an outstanding job of describing his truck and some of it's history in this video. I felt very privileged to be able to record and pr...

I worked for Roadway Express for 20 years. If yellow did not buy us I believe we would still be in business as Yellow trucking sank every company they bought starting with Preston Trucking outfit then they Roadway express who already bought new Penn Trucking
The Golden Age Of Trucking, Now A Large Part Of It Is A Rolling Freak Show With Flip Flops Shorts And To Many Foreigners
When I delivered newspapers at 3 am in the 1970s, the only other people on the road were Roadway Trucks!
The last "real"trucking company I drove for was Harold Ives out of N little Rock.then they sold out to covenant and I bounced around a few companies until 2008 and I'd had enough.best thing I ever did was quit truck driving.Id probably be tired, stressed out and broke right now if I hadn't.they can have it.
35 MPH cross country run 😆😂 ROTFLMAO
WTF were they doing with those tires?
Old Dean there at Bloomington seems to be a very positive upbeat guy to work with as well as his Co workers there at Bloomington Illinois P&D quick release Depot
That was a nice gesture buying the truck and trailers but look what they did to them on Labor Day they shut the doors on Labor Day a slap in the face to all the Teamsters!!!
Thank you for uploading this! As a youngster in LTL, its cool to learn how things were fone back in the day. I heard a lot of good and bad about CF from my veteran co-workers.
Look at these real truck drivers, back when truck drivers looked like Truck drivers. Competent and knew what they were doing. Now the trucking driving culture has been almost completely displaced by turbin suburbans.
Thanks Yellow
I remember running across Pennsylvania on I 80 in the late 70s when Roadway had those long nose Whites… they would fly down snowshoe Mountain like it wasn’t there… I think they didn’t have front brakes on the front axle no trolley break in the cab and only a single seat… they had air starters and the battery was in the cab…. i’m going to say they didn’t have power steering also but I’ll be huge steering wheel I sat in one one time up in Maine in a garage… It was like a stripped down hot rod!!!!
Too much use of dunnage in the trailers to reconfigure loading of Linehaul units talk about inefficiency too much fingerprinting of freight
Amazing how BAD politics was back then because information was not spread as fast. How many people got rich off of "only carrier allowed to go from city A to city B". Then at the end it explains the easy way to divert profits to non union/cheaper company with out a lawsuit. Genius way to actually save jobs for those who saw the writing on the table.
Who cares
I work in canada as an owner operator for a company that is owned by the original founders of Riemer.
Does anyone know who Roadway bought trailers from in the 1970s. They all look the same.
Those cabovers bring back good o memories.
Miller Mary Brown Anna Perez Steven
Roadway, some of the cheapest and ugliest trucks on the road.
Old Lou got screwed with all the others that showed too much love & empathy for the company he should have been behind the wheel that day not that Glen guy ?? It’s strange that I don’t recall any of that from then I was a on call extra board driver for CF in those days I never heard any shop talk about this at all I never knew anyone in the company to have an motivated upbeat attitude like the people in this company film all the drivers & dock workers & Shop labor & office we’re all doom & gloom all the time no one out of the Chicago region were like the people in that video and I find it strange or maybe not that I don’t ever recall this story at all ??? The crew I worked with were not from that cut or caliber of employee !!
What was the model of it because it reminds me of the FLD 120 But with single headlights???
I remember CF driving through the Inland empire California in the 90s as a kid as well as Sunkist Orange's
I’m so happy this video exists, My father worked at the Los Angeles Terminal for 36 years and when he retired he got me in for the last 8 years before they went out. A wonderful company to work for.
The problem with C-F was they at the time of your commenent time was foolish buying cargo planes with that 96.00 I was. An em:ployee of C-F at that me They were taking the money that the truck.line was making and using it to build their Air Freight line
Hauling rocky mountains - with these pneumatic tankers.
Whoever made the decision to capture this on video. I’m glad they did. Great piece of trucking history captured.
I worked the docks for 2 months before they closed. (Bridgeview ill.) there's and old 48 foot CF trailer on 79th. and roberts road parked in a dock right on roberts
I remember the freightliner cabovers when they were running 903 Cummins engines and the spicer 6 speed's
It’s a shame Roadway is just a memory now
Union killed many trucking companies.
Those were good trucks back then. I even love the old B-Trains. Are these ones A-Trains or B-Trains? Anyway, those are beautiful trucks. I know the yellow is Golden Yellow. But what is the darker color? Black or Dark Blue? Still awesome video. Thinks for posting this. Keep on trucking.
Roadway truckers cannot exceed the speed limit. Passing other trucks are an all day event.
Back when all of us drivers were young and thin do a job go party if people were friendly with one another miss those days😊
The Great Depression thank you Cabal !
What is the name of the big trucking company that recently went bankrupt?
Roadway was bought by yellow freight which went into bankruptcy ?
Thanks so much for sharing this. I have some old VHS from Santa Fe I picked up at a train show. I need to digitize it and load it on here someday.
Yellow kills trucking companies
What happened to this company should be illegal.
I viewed this about 2-3 years ago and will probably enjoy watching it again in another 3 years if fortunate to still be here. History is all over these old films, beginning to end. It's great that technology has enabled such access to so much, as well as film restoration capabilities. Only, it's a bummer sometimes, to come to the realization of how old I'm getting when I see the 'old videos' have things shown in them that were brand new to me at one time.
I agree. At least we have good memories of times when we worked harder but had more fun.
FACTOID- WAS A LEADER
Back in the day😁
Back when they had Chicago ridge

I worked for Roadway the last 5 years of my career, retiring in 2007. Worked for most all the LTL lines of the day during my 30 years. I hate to say it but Roadway was definitely the worst company that I ever worked for. Management was trained to be assholes and became very proficient at it. They couldn’t care less if you were a go getter or a deadbeat and constantly instigated discontent among employees. I was there when Yellow bought them out and thinned out the dead weight in management, especially at the end of the line terminals. Appreciated having the job, it’s just that they didn’t appreciate the job that most of their employees did. That’s my experience with Roadway coming off of working for Consolidated Freightways for 13 years until their closing in 2002.
The older freightliner in the video i BELIEVE had a 400 Cummins in it
Not big on raising the landing gear down there I noticed 🇨🇦
I have a good friend who started with Roadway in 1966. I'm a Gen-Xer, and got my CDL in 2000. He's been decent enough to share the rich history of trucking THEN with me, and never held me in any kind of contempt as a steering wheel holder. He's a superb ho scale model builder, and I have many of his creations. I've been lucky enough to have a few guys like him from that era as friends.
XER CDL? Greek! ?
@JeffreyWilliams-dr7qe Trust me, it's Greek to me, too.
I did this with this company since 1988 was with them until Yellow stepped in and bought them another company ruined by yellow Freight so sad😢
