Remember that ESPN show "Top Five Reasons You Can't Blame..."? It was about controversial moments in sports history for which the conventional wisdom/popular viewpoint was challenged. In this case, the agreement was so one-sided in Sony's favor Nintendo had no other realistic choice but to back out. Had they not done so, I think we would've ended up with the Playstation anyway...after a couple years of success, Sony would've just phased out the SNES cartridge part and what few ties to Nintendo were on it.

Typical Nintendo behavior, as much as I love Nintendo they are a shiesty company who are obsessed with there bottom line. In fact, Nintendo is dying. If they don’t figure out how to evolve past Mario, Zelda, etc remakes or installments, the will cease to exist. My daughter skipped from tablet games to PC/PS5. Nintendos major audience is playing Roblox etc. they must evolve to Mature and teen titles. Also, they are blinded by greed. Switch games never go on sale.

Nintendo didn’t betray Sony. It was actually the other way around, Sony wanted to gain control of Nintendo’s software licensing using their new format. Sony was already providing their sound chips for Nintendo systems and their ambitions were obviously to take over Nintendo. It’s basically a myth propagated by sony fanboys, Nintendo was protecting themselves and their IP but playstation fanboys refuse to admit that their god (Sony) was scummy from day one.

It used to be fun. I owned the 360 and the One. They were both great systems. Graphics, gameplay and at the time a great library. Now with next generation, there’s nothing good so I sold my Series X and I quit gaming. To be honest, I don’t feel bad about it. I got a MacBook Pro and I am starting up a new/old hobby.

It’s a shame that between Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo, only PlayStation has the most feature complete controller. Stuff like analogue triggers and gyroscopes should be as standard across platforms as rumble is tbh

The problem Xbox has is Microsoft. There's literally no reason for me to buy an Xbox console these days. First party exclusives are day and date on PC, with GamePass Ultimate meaning I don't need a console to play the console versions of them either. They should follow Sony and keep their games console exclusive for a year or two, give people a reason to buy the console hardware. I'm always surprised when the built in battery of the Sony controllers is touted as a good thing. If my Xbox controller dies I simply swap in a new set of AA and I'm playing again wirelessly. With the Playstation controllers if the battery dies I have to play with a wire or have a second controller to hand. If the battery in the Playstation controllers dies altogether that requires disassembly and that's better than just putting in a fresh set of rechargeables?

I dont think controllers really need a gimmick every generation personally. Sony got it right with the ps1, which in turn was only a small iteration on what nintendo got right with the super nintendo. Xbox swapped the stick and dpad, which is more appropriate in a gaming landscape biased towards 3d movement. I'd say the only evolution left to be taken into universal adoption would be rear buttons, and gyro. After that, its been gimmicks and fluff, that most devs dont utilize anyway. Game development pretty much found its control standard. So faulting xbox for leaning into that just doesnt seem right.

Not having gyro is crime

I just realized this weekend that i have 4 xbox controllers, and all of them have stick drift. Im older so i am not that heavy of a gamer. Mostly weekends. I also have 3 ps5 controllers. They are all working fine considering i gamed more on my ps5 than my series x. Xbox is indeed on the decline, and it will be interesting to watch them attempt to spend their way out of the problem.

The controller is perfect why change it ? No point in upgrading something already working

Hardly disagree. Switch has amazing first party games. But when it comes to third party games. The steam deck outshines in every way. Starting from price, performance, compatibility with future hardware, modding even going to a highend pc end experienceing the game at its max.

I would definitely buy one. Because the Dreamcast runs Marvel vs. Capcom 2 better than both the PS2 and XBOX.
