Forget the Clash,Sex Pistols, Ramones, or other groups of dopes who call themselves punk. The Rats were the true pimple faced punks who made more racket sober drinking soda and chocolate milk than the aforementioned groups did while sloppy drunk.
I just ran into Paul Shalako (guitarist) today. He's running an antiques store in Tallahassee - Memory Lane.
Great! Do you also have the Side 1? I think their name was also The Ravens and The Revens!
Do you also have their record My man/What you want (1967)?
Do you?
flipside please
This sounds like a super hero music
Killer beats from the sixties ahead of their times
Did Steve Howe invent proto-punk??? 🙂 Fourth from the left ===>
Exactly right!
I can't understand shit but I LOVE this!!!
Thanks for sharing such groovy garage music.
This is Vince Furnier (Alice)/Dennis Dunaway/Glen Buxton/John Speer & either Mike Bruce or John Tatum...i wish i could be sure...
Mike Bruce.
@@inthegarage45rpm thanks for responding... awesome ! 👍🏼
Steve Howe as well
I have this on Vinyl - It's amazing off the real deal - The story attached to my Vinyl says the Producer basically locked these boys in the recording room (That was very hot/cramped) and managed to take a couple of Howdie Doodie 50's clean cut type boys who were making Shoo-bop level music prior to this recording. In the span of some hectic hours being forced to just keep playing the same song, it began to morph & This is what was produced. I guess he could sense there was more in the boys, then what they were presenting and thought with a little pressure he could get a more honest sound from them. Nothing ever came of them, I wonder if because they found this experience a bit exhausting or traumatizing. Re-listen to the song knowing that this was the first time these boys ever "Let loose" in their music style, you can hear the unsure/hesitant sounds in their voice as they are coming up with the lyrics on the fly each time & variation. They get more invigorated & loose themselves in the song as it continues. It makes me feel like I can picture a bunch of boys loosing themselves into a trance like state of creativity, heat, and exhaustion of repetition & adrenaline. I can easily picture them looking at each other like "Did you really just say that,?" "Man this is so silly," "What are we doing - this is so much fun though" energy (especially when you catch their laughter in the track) they really come to life at least for me - Its a unique music moment captured in time for sure.
they truthly were... the rats
Saw them in 1968 in Dallas opening for The Doors.
First time actually seeing the ‘45 label. Use to seeing the comp. Album cover of them
This swings in all the right places
LOVE IT!!!
I loved CKLW during the late 60's. They broke many tunes to the world, especially the Parliments
Just my speed........LOVE this gem !
Sorry but this is dreadful. Just my opinion.
Should have been a semi hit at least!!!!! I love getting to listen to all these tunes that almost made it. Love me the 50's 60's and 70's. That is where the great music stopped!!
Wish it had charted higher, and that they ruled the airwaves!))) percent better than anything out now!!!
That's my dad playing bass on this (Chas Madonio). They laid down a cover "He Was A Friend Of Mine" for the A side and came up with this in the studio on the fly for the B side, inspired by the fuzz bass from "Think For Yourself" which had just come out.
Yr dad played an awesome bassline !. I hope he's well (and you), and he's still playing !.
The punk rockers got their inspiration from these artists. Thank you for posting this beautiful music!
Your posts make me happy
love this, it's a stone groove.
Why wasn't this one Nuggets? American Garage Rock in its finest form!
There is no such thing as ‘Garage RAWK(?!’ It’s Garage PUNK.
@@ratfinkie62 Garage Punk didn't exist until the 1980's.
Me too.
Love this gem
Its probably 40 - 50 years since I heard or even thought about this song. Barely recognized it while streaming CBC....until I just as it went into "85 percent of them don't give a ###### damn" I spontaneously sang that in my head when it came up....BOOM. Must have had an impression on a 16 year old. I think it was the censored word that impressed me back then. I think it was censored word that did it...unless I remember wrong.....I have it right, its "fucking" yes?
Lembra um pouco, starks-Shelly belly
I heard this today for the first time on Sirius Little Steven's Underground Garage. Palmyra Delran manages to dig up good stuff. I'm old and I had never heard this song before. It's quite the catchy number.
Could you post Caroll Ann and Everybody Puts Her Down by the same band please?
Loveclove love ❤❤❤❤❤
This is like a WHO raveup - only better!
They were inspired by the who and yardbirds
This was on a great "Girls in the garage" collection I had years ago and one of my favorites!
For a David Mann artwork of an outlaw biker sitting on a tight-looking panhead chopper (circa 1965). The words, "Know ye this is the kingdom of kicks - bikes, booze, grass, and chicks" written on a brick wall.
Sounds like this are the epitome of cool; in the purest sense.
I get a frat rock vibe like The KIngsmen.
Ha, a tune about a dude who beat and cheats on his woman. I wonder if FM radio would play this today.
The best diss track towards an abusive ex!
