Hi - I am not sure how much it is effective if someone calls up the MTDC contact numbers, I never tried. But for booking you can directly check availability and book from their direct MTDC resort website.

The boating time is approximately 1.5 hrs from the time it starts from boat landing point and returns. If you are staying outside of Periyar Tiger reserve then you need to reach parking or park your vehicle outside of tiger reserve and take tiger reserve bus to reach boat landing point, which is 4 kms from outside parking to here. But as I stayed inside the tiger reserve so it is walkable distance for some 30 mins max to reach the boat landing location. For booking online you may refer their direct website Periyartigerreserve.org.
