Thank you for your informative video. I've been trying to help a friend who had a serious concussion a few years ago. There were many changes in his behaviour. This video helped me as I realise the importance to celebrate the small wins. Ive become more tolerant when he has a bad day or a bad moment. He can become easily frustrated and angry. I try not to take it personally, he's doing the best he can. All the best ☺️

Oh Anna! You are such a good friend! And you're in a really tough spot. I remember constantly asking my medical team if I was crazy, because I felt like a different person with the personality changes. It must be really difficult for friends without a concussion to understand and I think you are WONDERFUL for being there for your friend and offering support and understanding. The small wins are important and not taking it personally is important…but your feelings are really important, too! It’s sad that your friend has changed and it’s okay for you to feel frustrated and disappointed sometimes, too ❤ Good luck and thank you so much for being there for your friend with a concussion. It can feel so lonely and, even when he doesn’t show it, your support is making a big difference in his life ❤ L~

I’ve spoken with a few people recently who are super frustrated and really struggling with their concussion. If this is where you’re at, hang in there! Concussions SUCK! But this is not forever, even though healing feels so so sooo slow ❤

I live close to Lake Ontario, so walking by the water is easy for me, but I also live near a conservation area, so green space is easily accessible, too! When you spend time outdoors, is it near the blue or the green...or something in between!?

My sister and brother in law are visiting from the states and they are staying at my parent's house, but I'm at home with a headache today. If you're missing out on fun stuff, I am with you in spirit! So I'm in 'nurture' mode! I'm currently polishing off an ice cream cone (Haagen-Dazs coffee in a kiddie cone) and making myself laugh by relistening to some of my favourite Normal Gossip podcast episodes. What is something you do to make yourself feel better when you can't do something you'd really like to do?

Switching from guided meditations to self led meditations is HARD! I started with Kathryn Nicolai and her podcast First This, where she shares short, 8 to 10 minute guided meditations! When I started meditating on my own, I was able to sit still and not feel like a weirdo for shorter amounts of time, starting around 2 minutes. Are you trying self led meditations? Guided meditations? What's your biggest struggle right now?

Do you have a surprising assistive device? Something that others might not call 'medically necessary' but makes your life so much easier? For me, it's my coffee sling! Huge impact, low cost, more caffeine, happy camper 😁

What helps you to stay grounded in stressful situations? For me, it's a combination of meditation when I'm not stressed to kind of practice for when I am stressed, and the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding.

Thank you for this. I’ve had medical issues that have left me weak for years now and I live alone. Seeing the state of my place has left me feeling defeated, stressed and slightly depressed. Knowing that I’m not the only one with a dwelling that resembles a war zone is refreshing.

I'm sorry you're going through this ❤️ Healing is hard work and WAY more important than running the vacuum through your house 😉 Take it easy on yourself!! You're focusing on the right things and you'll get to tidying when your body is feeling up to it.

Great tips! I have two suggestions for people who make it through the phases of actually getting the dishes and clothes washed and put away but are afraid of getting back to the mess. When I am not doing well (depression, not a concussion) I find the easiest thing is to live out of the dishwasher and clothes dryer. I leave my dishwasher open, and when I have a dirty dish, it goes right into the dishwasher. When it’s full, I run it then leave it open again and just use dishes out of there. I pretend the cupboards do not exist for as long as necessary and I just use and wash the same 4 plates and 5 cups and 3 bowls and so forth over and over again. Same thing with my laundry - I use the washing machine as my laundry hamper and when it’s full, I run it, put the stuff in the dryer, and then get dressed straight out of the dryer every day. My closet does not exist to me for however long it takes until I am finally ready to put things on hangers and in drawers again. It’s not a perfect system - more than a few times I have to rewash a load that I can’t bring myself to put in the dryer in time, and yes, I am usually very wrinkled - but the alternative is mounds of dirty dishes and clothes that feel completely overwhelming. Thanks so much for your channel, you are a joy to listen to! 😊

I LOVE these ideas! It helped me when I stopped feeling the pressure to only run the dishwasher when it's full. This idea of running it with your 4 plates and 3 bowls is so great!
