In this video, we talk bout 3 pitch decks that have amassed over 20M views and are basically THE reference thousands of founders have been using for years.
And these are great decks, but you should NOT copy them unless you understand why they work, and the context when they were used.
We tear them down, study their structure, and show you what we extracted from them to build a framework to tell company stories.

It isn't right to be mad at Apple for stuff like implementing Flux, especially since it can marginally lower the chances of things like cancer.

Thanks, interesting. Little nitpicking: the numbers might not be that much off at 3:17. They were presenting in 2008 :) So to back up your statement, it would have been interesting to see the development of the market size and their share thereof over the years, right?

Fitbit was the reason Pebble died. They bought Pebble to get the patents, then Google bought FitBit, and then they killed FitBit. Pebble was fantastic because of the e-paper display, and It had a strong foothold in the market because of the cost and battery life. I almost wish I still had my Pebble because I have to charge my Apple Watch every day.

Hey Caya great video, it was really informative! I made a comment a while ago about startup incubators on your accelerator video, and I was pretty much wondering if you were planning to make a video in it or not. I feel like it would be quite helpful to know about programs like these, as they are good for pre-seed stage startups. Some people would prefer guidance and a place to work on their startups rather than funding so that they can better create their product. I however noticed that there was a bit of a lack of information on these types of slower paced programs, especially in places outside of the US, while accelerators are much more widespread in comparison.

Please make a video on how much money you should raise from investors, how to justify it and what to spend it on once you’ve received it. How long does it take to receive pre-seed, seed and series funds and how much to allocate on what🙏🙏 I know this is a very specific video but I think it might help some of us get a holistic approach to how to go about doing this and if you’ve made separate videos in the past could you please piece them together to give us a holistic view on all this stuff. I learnt a lot from this channel then in any other channel and I’ve personally enjoyed the video on how shares work in a. Startup❤❤

Beeper was active way before December 2023, it was founded in 2020, and it wasn’t the 16 year old’s brain child. The Beeper team (Eric and co) had already been working on getting iMessage to android before then. James just found an easier way for them to integrate with imessage hence the Beeper mini spinoff. I still use Beeper today and the android app is actually super fantastic for getting all your messages in one place. More credit to the Beeper team please!

TLDR: Understanding and effectively utilizing key SaaS metrics like MRR, LTV, and churn rate is essential for predicting business growth and ensuring customer retention in subscription services. 1. 00:00 📊 Understanding key SaaS acronyms like MRR, LTV, and CAC transforms complex data tables into powerful tools for predicting business growth. 2. 01:00 💰 Monthly recurring revenue (MRR) and customer lifetime value (LTV) are crucial for subscription services to ensure customer retention and effective budgeting for marketing costs. 2.1 Monthly recurring revenue (MRR) is essential for subscription services, as it indicates customer retention and predictable income. 2.2 Understanding customer lifetime value (LTV) helps businesses budget for acquiring new customers by ensuring marketing costs do not exceed the expected revenue from those customers. 3. 02:35 📉 Turn rate measures customer loss as a percentage of total customers over a specific period, contrasting with retention rate, and is calculated by dividing lost customers by the initial customer count. 4. 03:38 📉 High customer churn can hinder growth and revenue, but it also helps predict future customer numbers and average customer lifetime. 4.1 High customer churn rates can stall growth and lead to flatlined revenue despite acquiring new customers each month. 4.2 Churn allows for predicting future customer numbers and calculating the average customer lifetime by dividing one by the churn rate. 5. 05:03 📊 A healthy SaaS business requires a customer lifetime value at least three times the acquisition cost, as shown by a cohort with a 5% churn rate and an average customer generating $49 monthly. 5.1 A cohort of 100 customers in a SaaS model shows a 5% churn rate, resulting in 57 remaining after one year and an average customer lifetime of 20 months, with each customer generating $49 monthly. 5.2 Customer lifetime value (LTV) should be at least three times the cost of acquisition (CAC) to ensure a healthy SaaS business. 6. 06:41 💰 Annual subscriptions boost upfront revenue, while MRR and new products impact overall financial metrics like ARPOP. 6.1 An annual subscription of $49 generates $499 upfront, but the monthly recurring revenue (MRR) is only $41 per customer, with accounting methods affecting revenue recognition. 6.2 A company with $70,000 in monthly recurring revenue has an annual run rate of $840,000, and introducing a new product can generate additional metrics like average revenue per operator (ARPOP). 7. 08:55 📈 Losing low-value customers while upgrading existing ones can result in negative churn and improved net revenue retention. 7.1 Losing low-value customers while gaining upgrades from existing customers can lead to negative monthly recurring revenue churn despite an overall customer churn rate. 7.2 A company can achieve negative churn and positive net revenue retention by upgrading existing customers and adding more members, which enhances customer retention over time. 8. 11:08 📊 Use the SaaS financial model template to estimate the impact of reducing customer acquisition costs and other expenses on business growth.
