It's funny really, I instantly grew to love the 9th doctor's intro and really didn't like it when they changed it, and then it continued on from there step by step. They each grew onto me as the series progressed and I was always distraught when they changed it

Matt smith has the best intro. Edit: Paul McGann has the second best intro. Every thing else comes in an Even third.

Honestly a pretty forward thinking dance record for 89, one thing I always love about Paul is he's basically never resting on his laurels, constantly trying out new things and trying to evolve alongside culture.

My 3 favourite Doctors are Patrick Troughton, was always on Saturday teatime, we'd have Sausage sandwiches while watching him. Followed by Jon Pertwee - ever the Dandy. Finally Tom Baker. Mad as a box of frogs and his Doctor loved Jelly Babies!

I loved it when they brought back using the faces of the Doctors in the opening. We hadn't seen it since Sylvester McCoy, and didn't show up again until the final part of Matt Smith's run.

All those abstract, organic shapes, dancing on your screen, perfectly and smoothly, you hear the minimalist deep synth's notes, and then the theremin-like extraterrestrial melody! What an absolute trip it must have been back then to witness this opening theme! You knew you were witnessing something radical even for Sci-Fi!

A Tom Baker intro is missing - the green-tinted intro for the Ark in Space story. The title sequence for Part One was tinted green as an experiment but was not repeated for subsequent episodes. The title sequence would stay constant for the next six years. The Ark in Space was recorded in-studio in October and November 1974. The sets for this story were re-used for Revenge of the Cybermen, partially set on Space Station Nerva at an earlier time.
