In the second largest city of Belgium, home to proud people, the contrasts are vividly clear: between the hard work at the port and the beauty of the historic inner city. A city with rough edges and refined art. A city of many cultures and nationalities. These contrasts become even sharper when Antwerp’s two most successful football teams face off: K Beerschot VA versus Royal Antwerp FC. A rivalry rooted in betrayal, which has shaped the course of history between the two clubs. It’s the Kielse Ratten (Beerschot) against The Great Old (Antwerp). One is a club plagued by financial issues and bankruptcies, while the other is Belgium’s oldest football club. This is the Antwerp Derby. Or as it's known in Flemish: 'Derby van ’t stad'-the Derby of the city.
