    Just mentioning, a 20min walk does not replace insulin, if u were to replace insulin u might want to go for an hour long sprint after a low carb meal

    • @drsuzb
      @drsuzb 24 дні тому

      To be clearer, movement brings sugar into the cell in an insulin-independent mechanism. I didn’t mean to imply 20 minutes of walking will remove your insulin Rx, tho I’ve seen patients who did remove their need for meal time insulin through whole food plant based nutrition AND after- meal movement. It’s never just one thing, but it’s nice to know we have power and hope 🙏

    Fibre!! Really? This is your answer?

    • @drsuzb
      @drsuzb 4 місяці тому

      97% of Americans are not even getting the very low recs for fiber, and the 56 % of our foods are highly processed AND addictive, and 1/3 is fiberless animal products. You’d be surprised what whole, plant dominant, diverse fiber rich foods can do. Sounds overly basic, but I see patients transformed, satisfied, and freed on a regular basis. There’s more to it, but it would be a significant and evidence based impact.

    So hard and so important! Our oldest is 15. About 1-2 years ago we got a cell phone for the three kids to share. The oldest does not like it because “everyone” else has their own phone, even though she being the oldest uses it the most. She does not have any social media yet, thank goodness, because just the presence of the phone itself and the nuances of texting are huge challenges mentally and emotionally! Parenting an adolescent is sooo exciting but sooo hard even without the phone issue. So thank you for talking about it! Yes sleep and nutrition too! 🫶

    Thank you so much for explaining this in a way that is easy to understand. I stopped eating red meat, pork, chicken, and turkey in 2020. I've been plant-based with minimal dairy and have most definitely notice a significant increase in cognitive health. The brain fog is a thing of the past, along with anxiety and depression. Gut Health Matters Matter is the name of the Divine Mother, "Maat" as known in Ancient Egypt, "Inner Feminine Energy" as known amongst modern day spiritualist. The Gut is the seat of that Matter, the Darkness of the Yin Yang that feeds the Light into the Mind, otherwise known as Thoth (Thought), the Divine Father or Patter. That which we seed within the Gut AS BELOW grows upward to provide energy to the Mind SO ABOVE. The Gut is responsible for 90% of mental well-being. The energies we have collectively built AS WITHIN the Self, radiate as our energy field (aura) SO WITHOUT; outward the Self. And so it shall be. When we understand the concepts of Hermetic Principles, having had a spiritual awaking as a result of following the steps to FREE our Spirit from harmful InTOXICating substances in the gut and mind, we carry the message to others and sign a spiritual contract with The Higher Power to practice the Principles throughout our daily endeavors. We agree to be clear in our intentions and clean in our energy, and make that KNOWN and FELT collectively.

  • @danacaro-herman3530

    I can't wait to lose this weight Dr Suz because you're correct. I'm taking Mounjaro 2.5 mg right now just started because the weight wouldn't budge, I have a multitude of health especially metabolic, depression and anxiety, fibromyalgia, menopause, lung disease and sleep apnea which precipitated weight gain and inflammation, and recent deaths in my family ( mom and sister) which precipitated poor food choices as well.

    • @drsuzb
      @drsuzb 5 місяців тому

I have poor thyroid function, endocrine issues, sarcoidosis asthma, fibromyalgia and depression which was precipitated by ill prescribed medications. I was too disabled to work as an RN any longer. As a result I gained a tremendous amount of weight. The weight wouldn't budge until I started to the lowest dose of Mounjaro. It's helped me. I will be off of it within a relatively short period of time. It was my last hope. I know this medication should never be used as a monotherapy, but with strict lifestyle changes. As a type 2 diabetic, I respectfully disagree with you. I am highly carb reactive. Any carb elevates my blood sugar reaction. So more insulin is needed and leads to more insulin resistance. I am 74. Last a1c 5.3. Low Carb for me. 20 total carbs daily.

    • @drsuzb
      @drsuzb 5 місяців тому

      @@kathyrivera2576 there's a lot there. Glad you have found something to keep your A1c controlled. However, All carbs are not created equal, and many help improve insulin resistance, blood flow, and are the strongest linked foods to longevity. We want to include those whole, fiber rich carbs (like legumes, dark leafy greens, berries, and even carefully chosen WHOLE grains). Insulin resistance is driven BOTH by REFINED carbs AND fat within the muscle cell. We can control our sugars for a while by reducing carb intake, but in order to tolerate carbs and reap the benefits of so many of those healing plant foods (that also happen to be bucketed into the "carbs" macro), we have to address replace the saturated fat, increase the fiber and choose our carbs wisely. Caution for throwing out the baby with the bathwater, by reducing "carbs". I have a video on insulin resistance that talks through this, and Brenda Davis' video "Whole Grain Hierarchy" is great for explaining the grain choices in insulin resistance.

    I know you believe you have figured out the answers to obesity. You realize everything you are saying has been recommended as nauseum right? If it was the answer, it would be working. Perhaps there is a hunger drive mechanism that is greater than willpower and good choices at play. Eat right and exercise only works in theory, and it only works for people who have never been overweight before. Once overweight there is a new set point that you are not going to win against. Think deeper. No one needs to hear make better food choices and drink water one more time.

    • @drsuzb
      @drsuzb 6 місяців тому

      Yes! You are absolutely right- it IS so much more than just diet and exercise, and yes, we will need many deep thinkers to solve this multifactorial issue. The obesogenic environment, including the sad state of what has become of our food ,in addition to the other cultural "norms"( we as a nation are sedentary, sleep deprived, tech addicted, overstressed, and lonely) all contribute to WHY our overweight/obesity/Metabolic impairment stats have escalated as they have. And you are right, once overweight, there is a new set point. And yes, there are some who will need more invasive and extensive measures to address their health. I would never suggest I have it all figured out, nor have I ever stated this is a willpower issue. The nature of why we eat what we do is complex, involves reward centers, addictions, nutrient imbalances, hormone imbalances and so much more. This is why we need to all be part of the solution and unite around positive change that addresses the root drivers AND the urgent needs. Wouldn't it be slightly easier for everyone if we shifted our exposure and environment to one that nudges nourishing food and movement, community support, among other things? It's not that it doesn't work. It's that we are not doing it. Thank you for writing, and I hope we can all unite to improve the health destiny of the Western world.

      Bottom line...you have to want to lose weight to lose weight. If you have knowledge of what foods make you gain weight yet you still eat/drink them...bad things can be expected. I've lost over 130 pounds over many many years. It's a struggle. But I'm at the point where I refuse to gain the weight back. And regarding process food addiction...I think we eat more processed food because it's low fiber and not filling. Gives you high glucose spikes and then plummets. This makes you hungry. And we eat more. You eat a pancake breakfast and 90 minutes later you're looking for something else to eat...that's not addiction.
