Our First EV Road Trip
We finally got the chance to take our new (to us) EV on a road trip this past November. Neither of us had visited Tofino yet which felt like the perfect excuse to test our EV.

A destination wedding on camcorder
Переглядів 21 тис.4 місяці тому
We got married on July 31st, 2024 in Costa Rica. It was genuinely the best day, week and trip of our lives. We didn't want the focus to be filming and documenting the wedding. So we decided instead to get an old camcorder and let our friends and family have fun with it. We think the results are pretty amazing and we hope you enjoy the vibes. Why we left the BIG city
Переглядів 17711 місяців тому
While touring Eriks' sister around Vancouver we had a big revelation. By showing her our favorite touristy things that you can do FROM Vancouver we realized that we, ourselves wanted to be even closer to the adventure/nature that this city can offer. We visited Lynn Canyon, Deep Cove, and Joffre Lake. It was a wonderful week and we were so lucky to have beautiful sunny weather. Thank you for wa...

How to Survive Vanlife in the NORTH! | Valdez Alaska & Watson Lake Yukon
Переглядів 571Рік тому
We are doing something a little different this week. As we spend our last week driving back home from Alaska and the Yukon we thought we would share what we learned up here. This week we explored, laughed, and shared on the traditional territories of the Alutiiq, Upper Tanana, White River, Champagne and Aishihik, Kwanlin Dün, Teslin Tlingit, Kaska Dena, Dënéndeh, and Dena'ina Elnena First Natio...
FOUR PEOPLE TWO DOGS ONE VAN
Переглядів 697Рік тому
In this episode, we squish four adults and two large dogs into our tiny sprinter van in order to explore Denali National Park & Preserve, and Whittier Alaska. From absolutely epic mountains to jaw-dropping glaciers, this is one for the books. This week we explored, laughed, and shared on the traditional territories of the Atna Nenn', Tanana Dënéndeh, and Dena'ina Elnena First Nation. If you are...
This is why we chose van life

In this episode, we try to share why we decided to make this lifestyle change. We feel like we have shared the highs and lows of living in our van but we haven't really explained why we wanted to do this in the first place. Our trip to Homer Alaska and our hike to Lost Lake in Chugach National Forest felt like the perfect time to reflect and share. This week we explored, laughed, and shared on ...
The most AMAZING backcountry camping in Alaska

In this episode, everything going wrong... meant one really incredible thing going right. We had the most epic camping trip of our lives - the Harding Ice-field. Van-life in Seward, Alaska has been the breath of fresh air we were hoping for and we can't wait to share it with you. This week we explored, laughed, and shared on the traditional territories of the Alutiiq and Dena'inaelnena First Na...
Van Life in Alaska and the Yukon is WILD
Переглядів 3,7 тис.Рік тому
In this episode, we finally cross the border into Alaska. Traveling around the Yukon and Alaska continues to take us by surprise and we just can't do it justice through our camera lens. We also go whitewater rafting and have to get creative with some meals as we search for groceries. This week we explored, laughed, and shared in friendship on the traditional territories of the Champagne & Aishi...

Our van keeps breaking || Dawson City Yukon
Great video Erik. I live at the north end of Shawnigan. I often wish I could help some of the visitors doing the Cowichan 8. You did the hardest part of the ride. Those hills through the Sooke Wilderness Trail are so steep. The ride from Shawnigan to Lake Cowichan is dead flat. I do hope you manage to come back.
what time of year did you do this?
In October! So it was a little chilly and rainy but I got lucky on a few days with sun.
the most beautiful week with the most beautiful people ❤️
Enjoyed your first bikepacking trip. I notice that you were using a Go Pro do you mind letting me know what settings you had it on.
Hey, most of this video was actually shot on my Canon EOS R. But for my GoPro (hero 5) I shoot on protune settings. I think the key is to have the color profile set to flat, white balance set to native, iso set to 400 and shutter at auto. if you have nd filters you can set the shutter which is much nicer, but I don't use those. Oh and I use superwide 4k so I can do some stabilization in post. I hope that helps!
@@erikandko Thanks for the reply. Going to do the Sea to Sky this weekend so I will see how it goes.
@@davidgoodier8100 How was it? I was on that trail this weekend too maybe we passed each other! I am going to do it soon and post a video about it.
@@erikandko Great Trip. Everything I thought it would be. I did it labour day long weekend I met 1 person at Retta Rd where it goes onto the BC Hydro power lines. Filming went really well except I had it on 60 FPM so it is really fast and ther was no sound can't figure that one out. Still learning
It would be impossible to feel more love and gratitude than I did at this destination wedding. ❤❤
Hey Erik, well done on the video. Great job narrating and including a variety of different angles/shots.
Thanks David! I have a few more in the works similar to this
Nice video! That was a similar ride a few years ago that started my first bikepacking trip. It’s an awesome route, I have to go back and do the full thing. That was the start to more bike packing trips 😃
Thanks for the feedback! That makes me feel better about not finishing the loop I really appreciate it.
Good on ya for getting out and trying something new. I’m sure you learned a ton and will be back again better prepared. 👍🏼🇨🇦
100% I already have the next one planned!
It’s a great trip and you guys make it sound awful
lmao we enjoyed the adventure! I guess we didn't do a good enough job showing the highlights...
Beautiful ride! Do we get to see a setup / gear video anytime soon?
Thank you! I think we could work on putting something like that together. Like an overview of what I bring bike-packing and how I carry it?
@@erikandko Sounds great! Type of bike, possible modifications, racks, bags, gear... That sort of thing
@@streglof 100% this sounds like something Erik would watch 😂
I think it's never only fun 😆 During my last one I forgot to eat properly, hit the wall and after that it was miserable. 3 weeks later I started planning next one 🥴
Type 2 fun!
You actually would do it again though, don’t lie!
I can't deny that I might fall for another water bottle trend in the future...
Hahahhahahah thank u for calling out the Stanley
My guilty pleasure is water bottles
Is it just me or is Erik’s sister like kind of super charming and cute???? She should maybe be featured more??
I think its just you? Most people find her off-putting...
#freethecoochie
Legend! Is this why you keep bailing on Magic?
Yeah we are always biking lmao
More powers to you brother!
Glad this vid popped up in my recommendations. It was a good decision to listen to your body and not to push yourself too hard. It's really not about how far or fast you go. Also great colorgrading! Greetings from Germany. 😊
Thank you!!! Really appreciate the comment about color grading we have been working hard to make that better.
This is rad. Wonderfully put together Erik! Self shooting is tough, but you pulled it off... and whatever your audio setup is for the narration is brilliant.
Thank you! We are still learning so much about how to tell a good story and how to make our shots pop. Greatly appreciate the support.
You're a badass!!
Thank you!!
love this era and love YOU GUYS 💜
We love you too!!!!!
Proud ❤️
I'm officially a fan! But if I may give a suggestion, I think it's better if you just talk to us directly rather than play videos talk in background, it will feel like documentary, but when you talk to us directly it feels so real❤
Thanks for the advice! We have been trying to film ourselves in front of the camera more. It just takes a little more foresight into what the video is going to be about while your shooting. The voiceovers are a bit of a crunch for us as we learn the storytelling craft.
So Cylde is gone/dead/putdown not watching you guys anymore
Not sure how you got this from our video. He is very much still alive and we are doing everything to give him the best life we can. He is definately still in the picture. We just don't think Vanlife is good for him anymore so we have stopped doing that.
y'all are crackin me up in this vid!!!!!!
Should we do standup with you?!
Love this new chapter for you! 💚
Thanks Kira! Please come visit us soon and we will come your way as well!
Love the view in Squamish!
We got so lucky with this apartment! The only mountain we can’t see from our window is the Chief
Wow! What a wonderful place to reside! I've been up the Squamish gondola and saw the Chief. Will you climb it? My sister did. @@erikandko
The pants should be sewn with a van shaped patch🤘😎
On it! Thank you for being the only one to actually respond to this request 🥹
Neat vid an honest look at how cluttered a van can get. Just discovered your channel as we absorb every Alaska related, thanks for sharing and look forward to exploring more of your content!
Thankyou!! We are doing our best to share the highs and lows 😊 enjoy alaska!! It was incredible!!

I’ll sub, great video, it’s not all roses and sunshine for real. Take good care!
Thank you! And yes that road is an adventure; highs and lows!

Lovely couple! Greetings from the Philippines🙌
Awe thanks so much! It is so cool to know that you're watching from around the world!!
beautyy
Thankyouuuu :) :)
How did those husky’s ever put up with you humans in such a small space😂 great trip
Luckily they aren't in the van very much and get to spend more time outside than they did at home. But yes we are lucky to have dogs with good temperaments!
You guys are my heros 🤩🤩🤩
Thank you!
As fellow husky parents, we are officially in love with those pups ;) ❤️
Aww thank you! They are great travel buddies right?!
As fellow husky parents, we are officially in love with those pups ;) ❤️
This is unreal!!! The MOUNTAINS!
RIGHT?! I feel like we got some of our best shots of the summer for this episode.
In the description, you put down reserve instead of preserve. There are actually some trails that are located in the national park portion of Denali. Savage River, Eielson Visitor Center, and Wonder Lake offer maintained hiking trails, and at Riley Creek, there are several maintained trails including a hike up to Mt. Healy Overlook trail.
Honestly starting to think we might need to hire you as an edit checker before we publish these videos 🤣
I don't think we were clear enough on that point. There are trails in the park but none that you are allowed to camp on. In order to do any backcountry camping you have to be in one of the zones, at least thats what the rangers told us.
ya had to zoom in on the pee
Ko loves a good mid-shot zoom and we needed you to really get a feel of how bad it was.
Really loved this one you two ❤
Thanks Alanna! Your in the next one hope your ready!
"for the life of god" ahahah
Your saying that isn’t the right way to say that?!
wow dudes
Right?!!!!
Ronald wesley where have u been?
In Alaska!
Hello from Ohio!! Enjoyed your video. Beautiful scenery. Safe travels. 😊
Thank you!
Love the voiceover and music at the beginning. Great to see your adventures, guys. Keep it up!
Thanks gurl! Hopefully we see you out on the road one of these days.
More feet content please.
The Harding Icefield is located partially within the Kenai Fjords National Park, while portions of it are located within the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge.
