No worries, I started doing it because I was watching other pilots videos and getting the same help from those. Then when I was watching my own videos back I found them helpful to see what I’d done in real time, like a debrief tool. Give me a shout if you see me at Kernan some day 😀

You don’t need fancy kit, my main cockpit GoPro is a reconditioned Hero 3 at £70. The audio cable is getting harder to get but it’s not megabucks either, it’s much easier to ‘debrief’ with the audio of what you were told vs what you actually did some times 😂 It’d be good to get a few more folks doing it at Kernan 👍

If you hear the intercom playing the commentary, it’s not deafeningly loud to be easily heard. In the event of an emergency I’d be happy that he could quite easily be heard with a raised voice. I also don’t imagine every passenger on other ‘commuter’ and touring helicopters etc would be provided headsets either. Edit: I would also assume he has the ability to flip from pre-recorded commentary to an internal speaker if required.

Hi Gareth, I don’t think this is going to be any use to you but I just have a wee Hero 3 refurb from eBay which I knew would work with this cable I bought from Amazon: flitecordr (5 feet) - Aircraft Cockpit Audio ATC Intercom Recording Cable for GoPro Hero 3, Hero 3+, Hero 4 and Smartphones Thing is, that is not available any more. If you search for similar cockpit audio recording cables and check what cameras are compatible. will try and see if I can find a link for the cable I am using. Your headset plugs into it and the cable into your radio output jack. Then have an audio output you can plug into your mobile for recording

Eleanor has a better understanding of the local Area from the air than I do!! Fair play to her she seemed to really enjoy that.

It was ok for seeing towns but no view of the Mournes etc as you know. I changed the route with the low cloudbase to avoid the high ground between Armagh > Markethill > Newry. That’s the experience/knowledge of the local terrain kicking in, it wouldn’t have been a good idea.
