What’s the black tube at the start of the red hose made out of? Is it pvc? Or is it a hose?

I have this exact same Box, people dont understand what this enclosure is.. but it does use JLs patented (Chamber Coupling) and the entire oval hole is the Port! this is not a sealed enclosure. Back in the early 2000s JL would make these HO boxes with a single 10 or 12 W7 for like $1500 which was crazy back then. this Dual 10 originaly came loaded with 2 10 W3 (V2) subs. The Box is outstanding in its design and output.. I have 2 10 Alpine Type S... getting about 1000 watts RMS @ 1ohm.. and it is stupid LOUD.. I have it facing Forward (yes toward the Cabin) in a 300 SRT and you can hear me 2 blocks away with 1 Seat folded down! I had Type R 10s briefly before switching to the S.... but the Rs weight at 23lbs each 10 plus about 70lbs of the Box.. I felt the weight in the Car for sure. The type S 10s are only 10lbs each but still solid (15mm 1 way exursion, 600 watts RMS each and they sound good and get Loud) Also FYI if you ever want to sell that Box even unloaded you can get $250 for it easy.

My buddy made my box for me only problem is he made it to dam big its like 12 cubes and it killing my sub lol i was thinking of getting another 18 or just cutting the box in half and remake the port idk

The enclosure's performance is limited to a very narrow bandwidth of frequency response and can be extremely complex to build correctly. Woofers are very susceptible to cone over-excursion for frequencies outside of their operating region (specifically when they unload below the tuned port frequency). For this reason alone a high quality electronic crossover should be used with a 24 dB per octave cut-off slope or higher and each woofer should be fused appropriately.

That was my favorite box ever. I bought mine on eBay back in 2006 for $100 and $50 shipped. The box was a 12" and would make some of the worst subs sound decent and really good subs sound amazing.

I miss my pioneer z components....when I melted them, they were no longer available so booooo. But I still got my t1 12, but it's the sub to the home audio system currently being severly underpowered lol

The new type R now has the cone more secured than the older type R. I am going to get the l7 next. But I'm installing them in my truck. More air space makes a huge difference. Secure the type R. They hit really hard. I push them off a 1500 watt power bass amp.

Would this work with one of those catch cans which have the air filter on top of them? I'm not sure if the vacuum from the intake would suck air thru the filter on the catch can?
