Thanks for a great milking demo. Did you purchase a system including the pump, jars, tubing, etc. or did you buy items separately? From whom did you obtain the equipment? In the video I can't read the brand name on the pump and on other equipment.

You should have your lights come on in the morning and stay on until daylight. This way you don't have chickens trying to go up to roost in complete darkness.

That’s correct! Now if you get a cold snap where the temp drops significantly from what they are used to you’ll see a decrease because of the stress. The same thing happens in the summer when the temp spikes into the 100s I see a drastic decrease for a week or two til they adjust.

Instead of water glassing try "liming". Much cheaper. Works for 1 yr by my testing.

Michigan here: 12 hens x 1 month = 0 eggs. I usually keep a few small boxes of eggs in a 55 degree basement. About 70% pass the float test after two months. I’ve dehydrated about a hundred eggs over a year ago, but still haven’t tried any.

In New Zealand you are not allowed roosters in an urban area however I live in a small country town population about 1000 and there are roosters, nobody complains and I like hearing them except when they crow at a full moon also there are wild ones who have escaped I caught and rehomed a small hen and was attacked by a wild rooster which became dinner. Plenty of eggs to go around and everyone is happy.

In key west Florida there are wild chickens and roosters that crow all times of the day and night. They have signs that say “It’s 5am somewhere” playing on Jimmy Buffets song it’s 5 o’clock somewhere” sounds like you live in a similar place!

It does work however it must be on the dry side or it will clump up, sometimes it must be run through twice to get a good size.

Looks great. I also like the really thick stuff, but store bought Greek yogurt uses a lot of additives to get there. I drank a pint of homemade kefir daily for several years, but the inflammation caused from the conventional milk was just too much to deal with. Do you find any issues with your homemade dairy? It looks like it makes up a large part of your diet.

Have access to sheep and goats. I really wanted a goat, but then the realization that certain expensive cheeses come from sheep milk, now leads me to want a sheep. I totally forgot about the wool factor! Then as I watch more videos on sheep, the more I thnk I want sheep instead. I know things like goat milk soaps and lotions etc are popular with people, can you do the same with sheep milk? Ive also thought maybe Id do both so I can cover all the bases. I like the idea of making Cajete, but its supposed to be from goats milk. If you use other milks is it still Cajete?
