      That's correct, I was able to clear the ink cartridge error on my old HP Photosmart printer by simply cleaning off the receptor chipsets on the cartridges and on the printer. However, as I state in the video, this only works 25 - 30% of the time. In addition, this only seems to work with older HP brand printers. There is also reasoning behind why this works. HP has been notorious for doing everything in their power to force users to purchase more ink than should ever be needed at a prices more expensive than gold in terms of volume. In fact, they've been sued MANY times for this over the past decade and have paid out tens of millions of dollars in claims during that time due to their scams to forcefully sell their customers printer ink for insanely high prices. Here are just a few examples of those lawsuits: - topclassactions.com/lawsuit-settlements/consumer-products/electronics/hp-instant-ink-renders-printers-entirely-worthless-claims-class-action-lawsuit/ - www.classlawgroup.com/hp-ink-cartridge-lawsuit - www.forthepeople.com/practice-areas/class-action-lawyers/HP-printer-ink-cartr-class-action/ In my experience, many of their printers chipsets are simply poorly manufactured from low-quality resources, causing them to give inaccurate readings. That's why just cleaning off the connections between the printers and printer ink cartridges sometimes works to fix these errors, especially when there is still plenty of ink left in the cartridge that's throwing the ink failure error. Anyways, I have better things to do with my time than make up lies about fixing printer cartridge errors. 😂🤣

      @@747Firm I thought I replace this printer with Canon PIXMA MG3620, bought it. While it was in process of Amazon delivery I found "Fixit" solution for HP Error. I cleared this error by re-setting printer: took off right cover pulled 2 white ribbons on the top while printer was off, turned it on pressed Ok button when it shown Ink System failure, waited till print head stop moving, turned printer off, inserted ribbons Back, Turned printer on, Error was gone. I printed several color images including 8.5x11 Photo on photo paper. And was happy for my success. Next day Canon PIXMA MG3620 came, I returned it back, then I tried to print more color images with HP D7260. And Oh shite! It started to print like zebra stripes, loosing some colors. I thought Ok cartridges were expired, I'll buy some of them. Replaced the cartridges. It didn't help, cleaned cartridge inserts nasals on printer with compressed air, it helped a bit, but not completely. I tried to reset printer again and "Ink System Failure" error came back. I ordered Brother MFC-J1010DW this time. It came next day. Installed software, connected to PC desktop, laptops and cell phones. And carried out the HP in garbage container with some satisfaction, I might add, since this was the end of my sufferings.

    OK, I think I bricked my printer. I followed the instructions and did the first and safest reset. Not sure what happened. i think it shut down and may have been still resetting when I pushed the power button to restart. Now I only have the screen that says I need to replace 3 of the ink cartridges. I can also push the show me button and get the little video. But this is absolutely all I can do. There is no longer a menu or anything. i downloaded firmware to my computer but it will not let me install as the Update button is greyed out. Any idea of what I can do? the printer is still just like brand new but it's looking like I will have to toss it out and not even be able to sell it now. The back button 4 times no longer works either. Nothing at all does

    Do you have a video to get around the expired cartridge message on this printer?

    • @747Firm
      @747Firm 10 місяців тому

      Do you know what year your HP Officejet Pro was manufactured? If it was manufactured BEFORE 2011, the only way to get around the 'expired cartridge' error is to purchase a 'chip resetter' for the cartridge(s) in question. The cartridge chip resetter is a small, and fairly cheap, electronic device that you can use to 'reset' the electronic chip on the outside of the ink cartridge. This in turn should reset the expiration error and any 'empty ink cartridge' errors. If your printer is newer than 2011, this error is probably caused by something else. In the past, I've been able to fix this error by simply cleaning the same exterior electronic chip on the ink cartridge. You can buy ink cartridge cleaner solutions online. Or, my personal favorite cleaning solution I make myself by mixing 9 parts isopropyl rubbing alcohol with 1 part Windex glass cleaner. (make sure it's the Windex cleaner WITH AMONIA in it). If neither of these solutions is possible or works for you, it's honestly easier to buy a new ink cartridge. Hope that helps!!

    Is there any options in any of the two menus to tell the printer to “reset” or “allow reuse” of previously used (refilled) cartridges? I’ve got an office inkjet 8710 and it will not accept old refilled cartridges. Any suggestions? I assume I need to downgrade the firmware? Is it possible to manipulate the chips on the cartridges? Thanks for any help you can share.

    • @747Firm
      @747Firm Рік тому

      Sorry that it's taken me so long to respond @youtubzer. I swear I've tried replying to your comment 5+ times, but everytime I keep getting kicked off the internet mid-sentence. lol It sounds like you're probably using an HP Officejet from the late 2000's or pre-2012. During that time, HP began a very shady practice of only allowing ink cartridges to print a certain amount of pages before the printer would simply not accept the chip located on the cartridge so that the user would have to replace the ink cartridge. This prevented people from being able to refill the ink themselves with off-brand inks for a much cheaper price. IIf you've seen my other videos that demonstrate how to replace ink yourself with non-HP brand ink, then you've seen how ridiculously easy it is to save a tremendous amount of money on ink. In fact, HP was even sued in a class action lawsuit for this former practice which is why they no longer limit the amount of pages a single ink cartridge can print. I think the lawsuit was settled out of court for a large sum of money, but that settlement didn't include any product recalls of those older model printers to fix the issue that caused the litigation. If this is the case and you do own one of those year/model printers, there are only 2 options you have: 1) Replace the printer by purchasing a newer model. 2) Purchase a 'chip resetter' which is a little electronic tool you can find on Amazon or eBay that you use to simply scan the microchip on any ink cartridges that are no longer printing and basically reset the cartridge back to '0 pages printed'. You only need 1 of these chip resetters I believe, but would need to use it to reset your ink cartridge's microchip every time it reaches its 'page limit'. Hope that helps!!

      @@747Firm thank you so much this does help. I made the mistake of taking two of my cartridges out before the printer gave the “ink depleted message” on my 3rd set of 4 cartridges lol so now I have just 2 sets of 4 cartridges. Oh well, lesson learned. I’ve looked for a chip reset device for these particular cartridges but can never seem to be certain what device will reset the chips on the 952 HP cartridges. Could I ask you for one more kind favour and please direct me to the appropriate device for my cartridge type? Again thank you very much for your time and info.

    • @747Firm
      @747Firm Рік тому

      Hmmm... I tried searching Google for a cheap chip resetter, but for some reason I can't seem to find any for the HP 952 ink cartridges. They might not be sold anymore if there simply aren't enough pre-2011-12 Officejet owners who haven't upgraded to a new printer by now. But I might have 2 more simple ideas to try real quick. I'm not 100% sure that your model/year printer has the same menu options, but try this FIRST idea... If your printer menu has these options, this should DISABLE the printheads from checking how many pages have been printed by your old 952 ink cartridge: 1.] Access “Setup” from the printer’s LCD display 2.]. Choose “Preferences" 3.]. Click on “Store Anonymous Usage Information" 4.]. And then switch it off Try printing again with those sa!e "empty" cartridges and see if that fixes the error. If that doesn't work try the method explained in this video: ua-cam.com/video/L5IE2EwGK8w/v-deo.html I'm thinking that following those instructions might also have a similar effect and basically reset the counter for the current ink cartridges that you have installed. Let me know if you have any luck with either of those methods. If not, you could also search for new microchips for the 952 cartridges and try replacing your old cartridges' chips with the newly purchased ones. You can find them on AliExpress for anywhere from $7 to $15 per cartridge. Hope that helps!!

The way that they're able to continuously force their customers to buy all of their ink from only HP is borderline criminal. Though my EXTENSIVE experience refurbishing and selling printers during COVID taught me a lot about which brands to stay away from. In the future, when you're ready to buy a new printer, I strongly suggest checking out the Brother J-series printers. More specifically, the J475dw and J485dw printers. Those are still my favorite models out of the dozens of printers I worked on and tested. With those printers it's super easy to refill the cartridges yourself with your own ink which you can buy for $15 or less on Amazon for like a two-year supply.

      I was using a tiny drill bit. 1) I prefer something small like a 1mm bit. 2) it depends on the ink cartridge. Regular cartridges of black, about 5ccs. XL black about 9 or 10ccs. Then colors are about 3 - 4ccs of each color. Really any syringe printer ink kit on Amazon works. I usually choose the cheapest.

The sensors on those cartridges should definitely be the first thing to check for damage or dirt/ink and clean, since that's normally where you'll see the majority of errors whether its "Paper Jam" or "Cartridge" errors.

      Did your Epson printer reboot after trying the steps in the video? What type of Epson printer are you using exactly? It took me a few tries the first time I tried this type of reset with this specific Epson printer model, but once I got the timing down of when to press each button it wasn't difficult to get it to reset on the first try. So if you've already tried many times without success the button timing probably isn't the problem. Lmk and I'll see what I can do to help.

      Unfortunately it won't fix everything. It's just one of several methods to use to try and fix your Epson printer. Usually ink problems are caused by the ink cartridges and can be fixed simply by buying a new cartridge with a new microchip. But if you want to try other methods to fix the ink cartridge, I do have some other videos like this: ua-cam.com/video/mczhDSwpvPU/v-deo.html

      does the printer need to be off to do the reset?

      @@guera1134 No, the printer should be turned on when you press the Power + Reset button simultaneously. At which point the printer should turn off and then back on with the screen asking you for the date/time and language.

      Thank you Beth! Glad you enjoyed it and hopefully were able to use the info to refill your own Canon PG-240 Ink Cartridges and save a good chunk of cash you would normally have to spend on substantially more expensive new ink cartridges. I apologize for the audio being slightly behind. I'm not sure what happened when I exported this video and have been meaning to fix the audio, just haven't had time. I took some time and added chapters to the video accessible through the chapters menu to the right of the video or by using the blue time links in the video description that should make it a bit easier to skip to the parts where I refilled all of the different ink colors in both cartridges.
