(Description written by ChatGPT) ⏩ Delve into the mesmerizing world of "Rossum's 1968," a sci-fi story that pays homage to the visionary works of Karel Čapek ("R.U.R. - Rossum's Universal Robots") and Stanley Kubrick ("2001: A Space Odyssey", "Clockwork Orange"). Explore the existential questions raised by the film: What does it mean to be human? Can artificial beings possess consciousness and emotions? And where do we draw the line between creator and creation?
Witness the ethical awakening triggered by the robots' burgeoning consciousness, as astronaut Helena Glory navigates the surreal landscape of the factory and confronts the enigmatic Domin and the passionate leader of the robot rebellion, Radius. As tensions escalate and conflicts emerge, Helena becomes the reluctant mediator in a delicate dance of diplomacy.

    I’m revisiting this ‘film’after my initial viewing some two months ago.It’s still visually stunning,but I no longer find it disturbing.Instead it seems a true artistic interpretation of 20s cinema thru your vision.The simple fact you rendered HAL as a woman…reminiscent of Rotwangs’creation perhaps?…I have more time now,and I was a bit too glib back then.Genius.

    Amazing. Both fascinating and slightly scary that AI art can create such incredible imagery. I've used it myself for a few videos, and I like the creative freedom it allows, but I can certainly see the threat it poses to real artistic craftsmanship. The irony of a story about artificial intelligence created by artificial intelligence is quite poignant. 😎

      Thank you for sharing your thoughts! We're glad you enjoyed the video. Regarding the balance between creative freedom and the possible impact on traditional artistic craftmanship: When sampling technology became available to everyone in music production almost three decades ago, it did not mean the end of “real musicians”, but simply an expansion of possibilities. More of a tool that helps trained “craftsmen” or producers with a understanding of music more than inexperienced users. We suspect a similar development with AI tools. Let's wait and see. We are particularly pleased that you noticed the irony of our little video. Great that you recognized this intention. As you may have already noticed... We are grateful for your feedback! 😊 Have a nice day!

    I don't think a degree commercial art will be worth much anymore.

    • @views-of-an-ai
      @views-of-an-ai 4 місяці тому

      Thanks for your comment. I understand your concerns about the changing landscape of commercial art. Even though technology is constantly evolving, the skills and creativity that a commercial art degree provides are still of great value. The human element, including creativity, emotion and intuition, remains invaluable to artistic expression. While AI can help in certain aspects, it cannot replace the unique perspectives and insights that human artists bring to their work. Therefore, in my opinion, a degree in commercial art is still relevant.

      @@views-of-an-ai The creations on your channel are truly impressive. Consider however the number of worker-hours needed to create these using AI vs that needed to do the same unassisted by digital technology. As long as the laws of supply and demand hold sway the number of commercial artists will follow the path of itinerant portrait artists following the invention of photography.

    • @views-of-an-ai
      @views-of-an-ai 4 місяці тому

      Thank you for your thoughtful feedback and for acknowledging the creativity shown on our channel. They raise an important point about the impact of AI on the commercial art industry and the potential shift in demand for artistic skills. While AI can streamline certain aspects of the creative process, we believe that human creativity and artistic expression will always have intrinsic value. Art is a deeply personal and emotional form of communication that transcends technological advances... You are right that without the support of AI even a video like this would hardly be possible in terms of effort. But just as an example: When sampling and editing programs became affordable for ordinary people in the music industry, that wasn't the end of real musicians. In the end, those who have mastered the musical skills and everything else are still successful. However... We will see. Have a nice day!

    HAL is incorrect about the chess game, which the astronaut conceded. It is the earliest sign in the movie that HAL can lie

    • @views-of-an-ai
      @views-of-an-ai 4 місяці тому

      Thanks for your insights! You are right. HAL didn't describe his moves properly. He should have said "queen to bishop six." And he's describing a mate in two moves when in reality astronaut Frank Poole could have prolonged the game and didn't need to concede it so early. You can read this motive in two ways (or more): either it is yet another sign that HAL is broken (a few moments later he will report that a working correct component is damaged) or that he is indeed cheating (he expects that astronaut Frank Poole will believe him), which makes HAL more sinister but also more human.

    • @hurricanejaney
      @hurricanejaney 3 місяці тому

      i interpret it with a touch more nuance. HAL never liked Frank, that much is obvious. Frank treats him like an automatic device, whereas Dave treats him with respect and acknowledges him as a sentient member of the crew. HAL was testing Frank’s wits with a win. the fact that Frank concedes lets HAL know he can continue with the next phase of the plan.
