Renovating my 70s bathroom by myself - start to finish!
I've never done anything like this before! ... and I'm not sure I want to do it again 😂
Literally as soon as I finished giving this bathroom a quick makeover y'all let me know that there was likely mold underneath the cabinet 😅 and I'm not afraid to say YOU WERE RIGHT.
I decided to tackle this project by myself and oh my goodness this was by far the hardest project I've ever done before. Don't even get me started on waterproofing lol.
It feels SO good being done with the project and I am honestly so proud of how this turned out. I can't wait to hear what you think about it in the comments 🥹

The new bathroom looks great!! I’m glad everything worked out :D
Welcome to America
It looks good! but you talk too much 😅
I was watching a vid on rehab of a really old home. They found loose bricks stacked half way up the wall by the toilet behind wallboards. They asked around, it was soundproffing, to quiet toilet noise in next room!
Love the result. I hope your enjoying the final product! A few notes to level up your next reno: 1) it's a 70s house, so test texture and old drywall tape seams for asbestos. 2) Use strike plates to protect wires and pipes through studs and top/bottom plates. 3) Prefill large drywall holes with hot mud. Way better than spray foam, and gives the back of tape something solid.
Surprised you didn’t have bugs with all that water damage
Thank you bro
You killed it - it looks so good! 👏 The green tiles with that color faucet/shower head is perfect. 👌
But why would you not add some isolation in the wall at that point? Even if it's just for sound control. Rockwool is cheap af.
Don't know if I'd call it cheap. I just priced out mineral wool for an upcoming bathroom reno and it's going to cost $500 for all 60ish sq ft. The rockwool brand is >$70/bag, and even the cheaper R15 mineral wool is nearly $60 to fill a couple stud bays. I agree with the utility, but insulating is expensive. Behind finishings it's my priciest line item.
I didn't know Tony Hawk was a carpenter.
Why doesn’t it surprise me that you fell through the kitchen ceiling? 🤣 seriously, you have such tenacity and you put everything you have into your projects and they always turn out great!
more like gay dudes😂😂😂
He's also an excellent dentist, because you have the most heavenly teeth
I’m not sure what kind of tape you used, but it may not have been the wrong kind. Even the manufacturer recommended tapes can be hard to saturate (which is what you need to make sure it all adheres correctly). Plus you do have to work quickly in some cases to make sure the red guard doesn’t dry before you get it situated how you want. Looks like you did well for your first time!
Legit super nice!
That looks really nice! Love the colors
Cute!!
I love it Dawson, a beautiful transformation! how bad was the mold situation though behind the vanity?
You stuck it out and you learned as well what works best for you. kudos to you. It looks good. 😊
Great work, looks awesome!
Good job! Just one thing. It is not recommended to use green board for the ceiling. It’s too heavy and will eventually sag. I learned this lesson myself
👏👏well done, I know that was a process but I'm glad you get to appreciate your work now that it is finished 🙌 glad you kept going👍
Lots to learn but I've seen worse
Clown show
totally
Looks Amazing Dawson!!

@@dawsondiyhaha yes!! 😂
Looks amazing.
Thank you!! One of my favorite spaces in the house for sure!
Awesome
Thank you thank you!
It looks fantastic, Dawson! VERY well done. The challenge of putting up that tile wall - I don’t know if I’d ever be brave enough to do that! I’m also so glad you didn’t fall all the way through to the kitchen floor! Bet that woke you right up! LOL Love your videos, and I’ve been missing them. Glad you’re still out there being a DIY inspiration.
Thank you friend!! Ya falling through the ceiling was not planned that's for sure hahaha
Thank you so much you have motivated and inspired me to get these projects done ❤
