guess the super suit affected everyone and not just Biedermann

I know the suits did help a lot. However, there was a record in the 200 breastroke that was set awhile ago that is broken now but that individual swimmer couldn't get close to it. He was from Japan I want to say his name was Yamaguchi? He couldn't get close to his own record. This was after the suit ban. I'd say yes the suit helped Biedermann but I'd say its a mix of him aging and not being able to get close to his time again.

Just to say, the commentators are not disappointed that Phelps did not win. They sad cause Park came in 4th and did not get a medal. Kind of silly if you ask me.

suit or not, that last 50 is the best i've ever seen. with that stroke rate and that flow the world record isn't a surprise. barring maybe agnel, there hasn't been anyone like that since thorpe

Paul Biedermann never got close to these times after this not saying this wasn't a good performance but you can't deny it was more suit than his actual swimming ability, where as Thorpe and many Great swimmers Phelps etc broke their own world records several times.

Simply Different level. But sadly he failed to convince himself and started wandering among the lower level of coach and swimmers. Then resulted in silver in London. Park, Tae-hwan already defined clearly what & how front crawl stroke(freestyle) should be. Sad. Nobody understood what & how Park, Tae-hwan was doing.

I mean it's a great swim, don't get me wrong, but the fact that the suit probably literally knocked 3-4 seconds off his time is kind of disgusting. I know after the suits were banned he never went under 1:44 again for the 200 free. Not sure about his best 400m in a textile time. Not trying to be a hater, Biedermann is a great swimmer, but it would still be pretty cool if Thorpe had the record in this event

Biedermann never won Olympics gold.

Without the suit Biermann never went faster than 145.3 but in this race he just looked perfect as far as form etc. and even had a bad start.

This hurts to watch mostly because it was Thorpe's world record that no-one else has beat yet and even though this was a great swim, it didn't deserve to end the legacy of Thorpe. Mind you, if the 2009 times don't count, Thorpe's 400m freestyle would be the oldest record in the books by far.
