CUMMINS Squarebody, First Tow

I needed to get a skid steer to do some work around the place. I decided this was a great opportunity to use the 12 valve swapped squarebody. It was a short haul, but nonetheless I'm happy with how the truck tows. Music credit: RocknStock- "Sports Hard Rock"

This kit helped bring back towing capabilities for my lowered single cab GMC. This truck is my daily driver so I wanted a kit that rode well but also allowed a light load to be pulled as well! I recommend this kit to any other lowered guys out there! KIT I USED: www.summitracing.com/parts/air-59209

Nice effort getting back up and running! I just bought a Yanmar 187D and I'm going through it now. I'm going to replace the radiator as mine will cost more to fix than buy. Nice seeing what I'm going to be up against, thanks!

FYI for others. The bracket holding the two metal tranny lines going from tranny to radiator and cooler can be opened from the top standing next to the pass fender with a long large 24” screwdriver. The bracket has a hinge and can be pried open. I originally went under and unbolted the bracket. Not needed and didn’t work. In my case the nut 10mm was finger tight so it was good to check it. I won’t use it now. I’ll be using flex lines like these. Routing that pre formed tubing is a PITA. and the jinky clip attachments suck imo.

Just put teflon tape on the tred. Or silicone. So it won't leak

Awesome video, I watched this before I fixed my 05. I didn't order the same kit that you did. Any issues with the radiator? I had a little oh sh!t moment putting the fittings into the radiator (not the trans radiator, THE TRUCKS)

All Duramax trucks of that vintage were only available with 3.73 gears and a locking differential, there weren’t any other gear options for those. The gas powered trucks did have several different gear options available as you’ve discovered. LS engines from back then used a little oil, especially if they have manual transmissions and you downshift to use engine braking to slow down. It looks like Service Champ let their service chimp service that oil the last time it was done.

Thanks for the video! I just did this install on my LBZ for reassurance. I lucked out and did a good job tightening the connections behind the intercooler without leaks, I reassembled everything before checking. I did, however, have leaks on the other 4 connections but tightened them down until no leaks. Worth mentioning, the rubber o-ring side of the connectors just needs to be snugged down. The rubber seals it. I wish the longest hose was a bit longer so it wouldn't be draped across the front of the cooler.

To everyone that has fought with the Chevy quick connects... ha ha, save some time and spin them off with a wrench. You can fk with those mothers all day long, and it only takes a minute to unbolt them, and if you're going to be reusing them, it's a lot easier replacing the retaining clip with them out.

I steering dampener isn’t a shock absorber is a dampener. So there isn’t any positive outer force like a shock. The Bilstein stabilizer can actually cause your truck to pull a little to one side if you have some slight warn out steering components. This is due to positive pressure constantly pushing on the steering components. How to tell if your stock stabilizer is bad is it want have any resistance when pushing it in or pulling it out. It will just go in and out with ease. But the stock one should not push against you like the Bilstein does.

Nice job, this video helped me out alot when I installed my winch. I ran my small red wire same place that you did. Is that the wire that controls the light on the toggle switch on the dash? If so couldn't i run it to the red on the solenoid and it would stay off when the battery disconnect was off?
