It's definitiely a big jump Toni - unfortuantely it's an area that's lacking in detail in the financials (all badged under "other operating charges") We have looked at Man Utd & Juventus costs in more detail (as they are listed they tend to disclose more), so the big cost buckets will likely include -matchday costs (3rd party suppliers) -stadiums & facilities maintenance (utilities, security, cleaning etc) -logistics for away games (accommodation, travel, meals) -cost associated with commercial revenues (e.g. club shop inventory) -sports advisors/consultants -business support costs (insurance, legal fees etc) Apologies - would love to have more detail ourselves but hopefully gives a flavour.

Thanks Toni 👍 Staff costs are just the wages (+ national insurance, bonuses and other wage costs) Transfer fees are made up of 2 parts -the annual amortisation of transfer fees for players bought - the transfer fee is spread over the contract length (if Isak was bought for £60m and given a 6 year contract, you would see £10m of amortisation costs each year) -the profit generated from player sold (this is not cash, but the accounting profit made) Hope that clears it up - if not, I can point you to another video where we break it down

We've assumed the bidstrup fee & raya loan fee only hit the 2023/24 books (the raya permanent fee in 2024/25 as Brentford announced it 03 July)

Answers below 1) a)Profitability - (Net Profit + Revenue)/Revenue b)Stadium Utilisation - Average attendance/stadium capacity c)Wage efficiency - Staff costs/revenue 2) Goodwill arises when a company is acquired and represents the premium paid above the fair market value of their net assets (& therefore the additional worth they buyer sees in the name, brand, fan base etc) In all the valuation methods we've looked at, goodwill would be the difference between the purchase price and the company's net assets (valued at fair market value) Hope that answers what you're after :)

I do have a couple of follow-up questions: 1) The definition of profitability given by you is (1 + net profit margin), wouldn't just NPM be a better measure of profitability? 2) I assume stadium utilisation is being taken as a measure of asset utilization. If that is the case, shouldn't you take all operating days of the stadium (including non-football events like NFL games, concerts, etc)? 3) Shouldn't we try to estimate the "brand value" or goodwill that a potential buyer is wlling to pay? Since the objective here is to estimate the purchase price

For 1 & 2 - I'll refer you to the underlying paper by DrMarkham as they explain the methodology in full (c. p15) www.sportingintelligence.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/03/Markham-paper.pdf 3 - most methods used in the video are based on underlying financial metrics - there will be many other factors that go into purchase price (lifelong affinity to the club vs an international investor, # of competing bidders as well as brand value) so as we say, ultimately it's whatever someone is willing to pay :) apologies don't have a more clinical answer for that one

@@NumbersBehindtheNet I wouldn't think so but it certainly isn't ideal. If anything I'd say sell Toney and bring back Maupay for another loan to address the depth concern. I think a Schade/KLP, Wissa and Mbuemo front line is sufficient since even without Toney half of last year (and a bunch of injuries) we still only scored two goals less than the year before with Toney in peak form. We have some depth past the four mentioned (Peart-Harris and Olakigbe) but they have yet to be premier league tested so I'd expect a significant quality drop off if two of the four above are unavailable before Thiago returns in a couple months.

@@NumbersBehindtheNet even if he stays, could be perfect depending on the narrative by january. If he is completely firing, and thiago comes back before jan window, could be great time to cash in.
