Is it worth spending over £120 on the platinum range of the Black Forest ceramics? It is crazy, but i think it was worth it. PS it is not a sponsored video. I paid for it with my own £££. However, if Black Forest would like to sponsor my channel in the future, I would be more than happy.

    Get yourself a random orbit sander (and connect it to a vacuum cleaner) and you will have almost no dust in the kitchen ;-)!

    If you didn't get them sharp you should look at the back (side) of the chisel, because taking care of only one side won't do the job 100%. The back side of your chisels looks like it could use a little TLC. What you did with the last chisel was not enough, the back side should have (close to the edge) a mirror like finish. I would recommend to start with the back and then move to the bevel...it is a pain in the butt to get the back perfectly even, because the surface is larger so it takes a lot of time.....

    Check out Charnley forest stones as a honing stone. Yes, use the diamond stones to sharpen, then hone (final process) on the Charnley. A Norton fine might suffice instead of the Charnley. Stick at it.

      That is old school. Only second hand around (ebay). As suggested earlier, I need to venture into higher grit stones to get better results. Thank you for the comments!

  • @Cmxx1v
    @Cmxx1v 3 місяці тому

    The 1200 grit stone isn’t fine enough to get the final polish that you need to cut paper. You should get a 6000 or 8000 stone. I use water stones. Diamond stones are good for getting the bevel established, after the 1200 then go to a 6000 or 8000 for the secondary bevel. Finally a few passes on the strop.

    Screwing the inserts into wood is much easier when using an electric drill with the fitting hex insert, because you can push while screwing in, so chip out is less likely to occur.

    I find the installing thread inserts it helps to use a electric drill in slow gear so it is easier to push on the insert while the drill does the "screwing in" part. Just my 2 ct.

    Now you know, why I am not a fan of resin ;-). Did you (by any chance) ask the manufacturer if waiting or adding something else will eventually just make it hard? Maybe it would have been a good idea to follow Def Leppard's song ("Pour some sugar on me") with a slight change .....and pour a little Viagra onto this resin....maybe it would help ;-)

    • @WhiteTailCreativeDesign
      @WhiteTailCreativeDesign 11 місяців тому

      no luck with this. once it is a wrong ratio, it is a wrong ratio from chemical perspective and resin will never properly cure. i was hoping, that more hardener will do the trick... nope, it doesn't. it was my first question to glasscast, when purchasing more resin

  • @katarzynakrzysztofslesiccy8976

    To be honest I think your chisels are pretty good, as long as you can get them really sharp you won't see much improvement in other much more expensive chisels.

    • @WhiteTailCreativeDesign
      @WhiteTailCreativeDesign Рік тому

      They are sharp, but they are fairly basic. Hence, I would just fancy something nicer. Probably, you are right that I would not notice the difference in performance. A nicer set is on a "wish list", but it is not a necessity...
