    As a radio amateur & HF Radio enthusiast , i wonder if you can find vintage photographs of HF radio equipments and Antenna farms in both the Malinta radio stations and in the US Navy Intercept Station on the Bottom side, im vry sure there still exist vintage pre war and War time photos & motion pictures of HF radio installations as such. Was just there earlier this week. Time has not been kind to remains of Fort Mills or the War Memorial. Much of what is there is in desperate need of repair and conservation.

      I agree. I was there 2x last time in 2004 and the landscaping was good and maintained. Seen recent UA-cam video and it looks bad, no keep-up or maintenance.

      The forced closures didnt help anything either. All but the government run tours have gone out of bussnis. If it wasn't for the fact that I know some people that know the right people I would not have been able to get out there when I did. There is very little in the way of money being made from tourism in on Luzon. Out side of what is in Manila. @@samuraigary

    The condition of most of the he barracks and base buildings today are the best memorials I can imagine. They have been left as they were after the bombing and fires. About 8 years ago you could walk anywhere you cared to in the ruins. Not sure about now.

    Its amazing to see that Corregidor was ones a bustling little city in the mouth of Manila Bay. But sadly now, a lot of it are just ruins while nature reclaimed the rest. 😢

    When you visited Corregidor, you can see that the Americans invested so much on the security of the island. But its defense was no longer adequate in WWII. With Bataan and Cavite fell under IJA, it was easy for the enemy to bombard Corregidor from that side.

    Pre-war Corregidor reminds me of all those bases we have all over the world like Yokusaka near Tokyo. All self-contained communities with everything a soldier or sailor would need or want for themselves and their families that travel with them. What a contrast to present-day Corregidor! The Japanese really did destroy it...

    I wish that Corregidor island could be brought back to its pre-war glory. Its barracks, building, tramvias and other structures be re- built or restored.

    • @sonnyabuan7466
      @sonnyabuan7466 2 роки тому

      No. It is better to let it be as it was damaged during the war. Let it be a remembrance of those who died, sacrificed and suffered. To rebuild or restore them will lose its historical value and meaning. Pag napunta ka sa Corregidor mafefeel mo yung essence ng lugar kasi sa mga nasirang buildings, artillery pieces, tunnels, powder magazines. Andun yung kaluluwa ng lahat. Enough na makita mo yung pictures ng nakaraang ganda nito at makita mo din ang kahihinatnan ng gierra.

    • @DiecastD414
      @DiecastD414 2 роки тому

      I'm assuming that the "Tramvias" used in Corregidor are U.S. made, since majority of all mechanized vehicles here in the Philippines during the 1930s are of U.S.A. origin.

    My grandmother, or lola, was from this island. She was also a nurse in the war. My grandfather, or lolo, was a filipino fighting with the Americans, and a prisoner of war. They survived and brought our family to California. That is where I am now. There is only one left - the youngest, my uncle, still alive, of the original family. Watching this, I felt like I could see them everywhere.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PUTTING TOGETHER THESE PHOTOS. I'VE VISITED CORREGIDOR TWICE AND IT'S SO NICE TO SEE ALL OF THE PHOTOS OF WHAT THE BUILDINGS LOOKED LIKE BEFORE THE JAPANESE BOMBED THEM. ESPECIALLY THE PHOTOS OF SAN JOSE BARRIO WHERE THE FILIPINO WORKERS LIVED. NOTHING IS LEFT TO SEE TODAY OF WHAT WAS ONCE THE VILLAGE OF SAN JOSE.
