Other versions of the recording were digitized from the vinyl record, and don't have the frequency range and depth this version has, which was digitized from the analogue master tape. Lol love this song my mum used to sing along with it in the shower 🚿 🤣
Walks out to peak high way traffic and walks through without looking L or R
I was surprised when I saw this on one of the late 2010 Countdown reruns, as I'd only ever known this song as performed by the Takeaways for the soundtrack of TV show Sweet & Sour, which I had on vinyl as a kid and had recently purchased on CD. Turns out that was a cover. The Takeaways version is probably better produced and kind of more ominous, but the original catchiness is here in the, uh, original.
Hi, Yes I like the Takeaways version. Mark Callaghan and Buzz Bidstrup who went onto form Ganggajang, produced the music. I was invited to be part of the crowd in one of the scenes .. can't remember which one lol. We recorded our version in the UK with Mike Shipley who had just finished mixing 'Heartbeat City' for 'The Cars', and who recorded Bryan Adams after us. The other producer was Mark Goldneberg who had just co written 'Automatic' for the Pointer Sisters. I had our original remastered in 2015. It features a young Danielle Spencer. You can check it out here ua-cam.com/video/MbBZHkDu1Xg/v-deo.html

Wow, priceless memories, my then wonderful boyfriend Jim filmed for 2 or 3 days and in the end only a snippet was used, he played the guy shoving the pie in the dudes face, i remember he was paid $50 bucks a day for the job, which was heaps of money to us back in the 80's haha, still - a fun tune.
Hi town girl! What a hoot! Glen was picking bits of pie out of his nose for days lol! We were so broke, we thought a good promo shot would be of us "sleeping on park benches using newspapers for the cold" and Glen came up with the idea of "newspaper suits". @@solidcitizens Thank you very much for replying. I have been to your channel and thoroughly enjoyed your new tracks. Obviously it is in a different genre to your original "countdown " hits, but hey if your writing new material , why not get that Bass synth out again and update your original track " singing in the shower" It has so many hooks it caught everyone by surprise! I have the tracks on vinyl and bought them when they were released and I treasure them. True Australian home grown Synth Pop. Your videos for both tracks are timeless and just like Wa Wa Nee's "stimulation" and Pseudo Echo's "listening" they were cutting edge Aussie Synth Pop for the time. I enjoy the slow mo in the "care at all" video and the backing vocals whoever sung those parts? It may have been one female backing vocal over dubbed? 1984.....what a year for music....and you helped make it just that much better.... Cheers and all the very best

Cool - new track has fantastic feel and goes back to my blues background so should be an interesting mix. Will post it on UA-cam when finished
Yeah sort of.. put out a track under the SC banner a year or so ago called "Your luvin hurts me", and just recorded the bed of another song written 30 years ... how time flies haha. Will finish it off in the new year.
Hey thanks. The Sweet and Sour version can be seen on UA-cam if you search for "Sweet and Sour Ep 5". Unfortunately UA-cam won't allow me to put the direct link up here.
The song was written a couple of years before Sweet and Sour. Solid Citizens performed and recorded it from around 1982 onwards. The producers of Sweet and Sour heard it, and liked it so much, they actually wrote a new episode around the song. The Sweet and Sour version is very different to this original.
When the bass player (Geoff) yells "FUCK" at 0:32 I laugh so hard.
This is in mono, which was pretty standard in the day. Will have to see if I can get an original stereo version of the clip
Geoff (the bass player) is the biggest dude of all time...seriously
I have him as a teacher at TAFE now too! He is the greatest teacher of all time, OF ALL TIME
Sony Music are re-releasing "Singing in the Shower" on their new compilation double CD "Run to Paradise" Volume 4 which will be available in stores in Australia from February 10th, 2012. Although the video here is in mono (as was the practice in the day), the stereo re-mastered track has been lovingly restored to its original quality from vinyl in the UK by Richard Spears (with special thanks to Brent James)
"However the success of the song led to deals with MCA Music and RCA Records for Mick Walker and Glen Muirhead who stayed together and continued writing." True, but even though the band had broken up, the remaining members Walker/Muirhead released "Singing In The Shower" in 1984 under the SC moniker. So they seemed to not have fully broken up ;-)
Hi Pianoman, I started recording again around 2015. My latest 'Time' was recorded with the original, original 'Solid Citizens' band 40 years after we '"broke up" ua-cam.com/channels/Z3g0DvpF3LexqaG6tGjpDg.html

The Dude on bass (Geoff Lungren) is my music teacher at tafe !! hahahah he still plays bass like that =]
Thanks! Hey it was an indie release but can be downloaded from iTunes. Cheers Solid Citizens
Excellent song - I love the piano playing, it sounds a lot like Sparks who are one of my favourite bands of all time. Which record company released the original version, and can you put it up onto UA-cam sometime?
Great song and video alike. Looks like it was a lot of fun to make, a shame that you don't get too many bands making clips like this anymore. :)
This is AMAZINGLY BRILLIANT!
They haven't lost it.
Solid Citizens have released a new single "Your luvin hurts me" which can be previewed on their web site
Featuring Steve Fearnley on drums and the creative dance stylings of Geoff Lungren on bass.
Hey Mortensen222...cool, thanks for your comments. Never know what's around the corner...been working on a new track and if it's released, it will be up here..Cheers m
Is this a new board game question lol?
...where's Molly Meldrum ?... :-)
GOLF!
I still have the picture sleeve single of this song. Had never seen the video. Great stuff.
"Full many a gem of purest ray serene The dark unfathom'd caves of ocean bear: Full many a flower is born to blush unseen, And waste its sweetness on the desert air." ...from Gray's Eulogy Written in a Country Churchyard. Solid Citizens finally see the light of day on UA-cam and so they should. It has taken the world quite a while to catch up to them, and they are still out there... somewhere... Classic material.
