This was filmed in 1990 and later released in theaters in ‘91. So, the 80s was that bad..horrible compared to now.

These zombies are literally what I think REAL zombies would actually look like, they would just look like people with blue and blank faces stiff movements and languid, Not the exaggerated looks like in the walking dead. The Boris Kodjoe scene was actually in the movie when I saw it in theaters. The scene ends with her kneeing him. Always thought it was weird that it was cut in subsequent releases.

Something that does not get talked about. In 1990s to 2000s, most of the Black youth in that area left the area for college in the South. The 2008 recession, clean out the area and gentrification priced out their parents out. Many families moved to the South where they regrouped with the families they left in the 1970s and 1980s to come to California.

I was just a white Teen in the UK when this was on repeat in my house. Amazing how a portail of a culture on the other side of the world shapped my childhood.
