    You mention you have a Jamis Renegade. I have one too - it’s had chain rub from day one. I’ve tinkered with it - so has by lbs but to no avail. Have you dealt with this on yours?

    • @bikesandbeyond618
      @bikesandbeyond618 28 днів тому

      @@djgregmack interesting you mention that. When I use the top/big front chain ring, the chain would often run/rattle on the front derailleur. I discovered by accident that if I give the front derailleur shifter a slight half-step of a downshift, it stops rubbing. It’s like a real quick tap of the shifter. Maybe this will help. I think it’s because the cable is stretched.

    I have I23 wtb 650b wheels on my daily rider. It has Goodyear connecter 50mm tires. Thanks. I will probably go tubeless as well. I was blowing down a steep woods gravel road and had a flat rear tire at the bottom. I felt and looked for the cause but couldn't detect it. 2 more rides and two more flats later, I found an old piece of heavy duty staple, big as Dallas. I had a big bear 'woof!' And run across in front of me in the deep forest of Willapa Pass (S.W. Washington) so, I have a 'bear bell' on the bars for blind corners, carry bear spray in a cup holder, and/or carry an 10 mm. Fun times. They just replaced the rotten/missing R/R tie bridges on the trail so, less character. Thanks for the informative video.

      Well, I am so NOT sorry you "hate" these videos! Thank you for watching and for taking a moment to comment. I appreciate your kind feedback. For the record, it was probably the best investment of time and money I've made on myself in many years. Downside is how much I have Ragbrai-withdrawal weeks afterward....

    Not sure if the headwinds that day, or because in my mind it was an easy one but I feel Day 5 kicked my butt. The 100 miler next day seemed a breeze by comparison. Must have been a close tent mate by the look of it. I was in 30

    My helmet of choice is a name brand on sale at REI and is hi viz. I wear it with a DaBrim full sun visor. I am in my second month of concussion recovery from getting doored on the 1st day of a 5 day bike tour in the Great Central Valley of California. My injury would have been worse, much worse without a helmet. One thing I learned from riding motorcycle is you wear gear for the fall not for the ride. None cares how I look and I care about how I stay alive.

    • @bikesandbeyond618
      @bikesandbeyond618 3 місяці тому

      so sorry about you being injured, Completely agree with your comment that take care of yourself first and worry about fashion some other time. HI Viz is a great idea. I had a concussion from a soccer ball to the head once - it takes time to get better. Take care and hopes for a speedy recovery. Be safe.
