Great video, but can I suggest less talking and get to the point quicker and not repeatedly before moving on. Just positive suggestion. Still very informative presentation.
Nice
I like your shop apron , it look durable , and good color . It seems to have great pocket locations that are both functional easy reach . I would like one for my self . Where did you buy / get it from . Enjoyed the useful information about the French cleats video. -Robert
I need it in India 🇮🇳
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH. I will be doing this to my old jeep this winter.
Hi. Nice work. What is your long term experience? Have you had to change the filters? Do you notice a real difference in just how much airborne dust that settles on all surfaces after sanding/sawing or whatever? Br from Denmark L
Super nice, I got my Dewalt Table Saw yesterday and plan on building a small table that fits under an existing table so need something compact enough and not to bit as i need to wheel it outside, this is a perfect size and has some good features, although im not sure whether to use the other space for my planer or for a router table with lift insert. Either way I will definitely be going with this design as it will fit my needs perfectly, so thanks for showing the build and also the plans.
Holy moly! What a nice design! Very nice work!
Hog rings were placed in hogs snout to keep them from rooting everything up
How easy and effective, made with offcuts. Love it
Curious as to why you chose to pull air thru the filters instead of exhausting air thru filters? The way you have it set seems to me that you are making more dust in the air with the fan facing downward instead of blowing into the filters.
I like what youve made here and im going to implement this design for my table saw/planer. Do you think if the tray and dustport are off the planer's back, theres a possibility to make a full width outfeed that would fold flat like yours? Thanks.
I bought a new tool for every time you said "basically." So thank you for that.
How much did it improve the performance of your dust collector?
Put the weather stripping on the filter, not the fan assembly...
Awesome build, thanks for sharing!
I just recently bought a DWE7491RS - definitely looking forward to building this, particularly with the infeed attachment. A thought occurs, however: Do you think there would be value in dropping the drawer under the planer, letting that sink lower down, and then installing a router above it, turning this into a tablesaw/router table combo?
Man wish I’d seen this a month ago. I am in process of learning how to make wooden knobs. My tool selection is limited so I have to improvise. I have been studying the dust/chip issue and this is perfect. Thx and I’ll look for plans but I should be able to configure.
Clear focused video, informative narration, and NO annoying music. That's how all DIY videos should be. Thanks for sharing. BTW, you say "basically" a lot! Lol
Great explanation and tips
WHY are these always mounted to the ceiling? Last I checked gravity is still in play. Things don't fall up.
Because it's the fine airborne particals that are dangerous, not the heavy saw dust.
@@TheSuburbanGarageWorkshop I get that but even those particles are more apt to end up on the floor than on the ceiling aren't they?
@jlester4892 they stay airborne long enough for you to breath them in without something filtering them out of the air. There is a reason they are osha mandated in many shops.
Seams this project would be better if stick framed.
Enjoyed the video. I used a step bit to flatten the control pack to the board. Worked well. Thanks just about done with this project.
Hey thanks for the ideas! Quick question, where did you find black melamine particle board? I can only find white pre-laminated, or black melamine sheets that cost 3x as much that need to be glued on
Menards stocks it.
A great, simple design. Have you been able to determine how much of a difference the fan speed setting makes? As in, if you leave it on the low speed does it clean the air adequately enough?
Thank you for your design. I'm planning to make one similar. Is there an advantage to mounting the fan blowing down vs. up?
No. I just like to use it as a ceiling fan as well.
Looking at building this, but wondered if you considered have the fan inverted, to blow up into the box. It would be a bit more work with reinforcing the filters and perhaps rewiring the speed dial.
That's generally not how any of these air filter systems work. As then you would be sucking dirty air through the fan/motor. That would require constant cleaning of the blades and motor and probably would redude motor life as the bearings would be subject to lots of fine dirt. Also, it would make it much harder to seal the filters as they would be getting pushed away from the housing vs sucked against it.
@TheSuburbanGarageWorkshop I thought that was why. I think a sealed motor and s slot system for the filters could overcome those negatives but the fan blades would require continuous cleaning. Your video was excellent, as others have repeatedly stated.
You've shared a lot of great info, it was just what I was looking for. Great Job and I subscribed!
Very nice I really need to make this where do you get the black melamine looks very nice
Excellent work
Nice one. For sure better than a single filter, easier on the fan motor too probably. Gonna build it
Great video! This is the design I am going with adjusting for 14x20x1 filters so I can buy 6packs, 4 for the 14x24 shop and 2 for the 2200sqft house, the irony here... Anyway, I'm excited to get on to this project!
I would like to see a set of plans
Home Depot STOPPED the 11% Menards matching rebate effective 2024!
You did a great job. Good build good filter setup. Nice placement. Was worried about the weight bit at around 25lb not too bad. Would like to know the air turnover rate and if it blowing down causes any dust on the floor to rise into the air.
I built the same unit. My fan doesnt blow air unless I remove and then replace 1 of the filters. Did you experience this? I have merv 13 filters and can hear the difference when i remove one then replace it.
I've dropped down to Merv 8. They are less restrictive. Otherwise, you'll need to shroud the fan to reduce the space between the edge of the blades and the box. If they filters are too restrictive or get clogged, the fan will suck in air between that gap instead of through the filters. I may release an updated version that address these issues.
Nice video but these ppl using alexa commands on videos are very annoying.
Certainly looks easier than cleaning my shop vac filter since its all contained.
Did you put plywood over your drywall before attaching the cleats? Some attache the cleats directly to the drywall, and others recommend ~ ½" plywood over the sheetrock, either for aesthetics or perhaps to allow more attachment points for the cleats. Any advice? Great presentation. I especially appreciated how you stressed proper construction of the tool cleats so they don't rotate off the wall cleat! Thank you!
Its drywall. But the cleats are screwed through the drywall and into the studs with 3-1/2" screws
Thank you!
Very informative, clear and good
When your miter gauge costs more then your saw
with the wheels out of alignment, what did you do to fix that ?
Go through the alignment procedure in the manual.
Excellent thanks
What are the material dimensions you can cut on? For anybody wondering, this looks like the "mostly printed CNC" project. ❤❤❤
Great video! But how well does it work now that you’ve put it into action?
Very well. I go through a set of filters about every month. I'm amazed at how much it pulls out of the air. I turn in on when I am painting in the garage. I started using MERV 8 filters instead of MERV 13 as the MERV 13 filters started to clog too quickly.
@@TheSuburbanGarageWorkshop thanks, Dude!
Great idea!
Hi SGW, such I great idea I’m almost finished the till 😁 Question on the magnets, did you find they had a good grip or were they too strong? Interested to know your thoughts, just that 60lbs of force seems like a lot 🤷♂️ cheers.
They are not too difficult to pull loose. Last thing you'd want is a number 8 to fall one something. Stronger is better.
What would change if the filters were reversed and the air came through the bottom and out the sides?
It would be hard to keep the filters sealed and you would end up fouling the motor with dust. Nearly all of these systems are made to have the filters before the motor.
@@TheSuburbanGarageWorkshop I didn't know if the downdraft would stir up more dust than clean.
You can always flip the box upside down and have it blow upwards, if you have enough ceiling space.
Great video, thanks!
