But its hard to see why the club invested $1M in Micovic if Mico is not in their plans at least medium term. McCarthy will most probably start the season but it will be interesting if he keeps his starting spot by the end of the season.

Excellent point about striking fear into our opponents. I think putting 9 goals past Colorado in round 1 helped, especially in response to the heartbreak in Houston. They put the rest of the league on notice and sent a statement for sure.

Double gives us better defensive solidity, but Greg likes the single so we can flood the box with numbers and overload especially that right side - in other words I think he likes attacking with 5 rather than 4. It will also likely depend on the opposition and Greg & the team will adjust in game when they recognize where the spaces are. It'll also be interesting if/how this changes when Julian Aude gets back into the lineup since he's also very attacking.

I feel that with Reus now getting lots of minutes, we're going to see more of this inverted full back role during matches. It just makes sense to take advantage of Yamane's good technical ability and IQ. I think being able to bring in Delgado ( a guy who covers a ton of ground) and Brugman (one of the best ball progressors in the league) off the bench entices Vanney as it allows for him to make in game adjustments for certain scenarios. Cerrillo has the grit to play at the lone six - it's just about making sure he's got passing outlets near him often. Cerrillo still isn't a great ball progressor - the data backs that up

Good questions. The reality is we don't really know what he will do and we think that's probably a good thing. No favoritism or previous bias. He will likely choose players based on merit and their mentality to fight for everything and work hard for the larger cause for the team. It'll be interesting to see what he does.
