Armed with two trusty BMW X5s, some tow straps, and a whole lot of determination (and stupidity?), we embarked on a mission to spin this massive container around... because why not?! Things got real slippery, real mudd...

    The 4.8is alone would have definately pulled it, but with the wet ground there is no traction....I am surprised how you fit 18 inch style 74 wheels on that X5, theclearance must been like a 1mm.

    I have a 6L45R transmission in a 2010 E90. My problem is it jerks from 2nd to 3rd gear. Other than that, it's normal to go down from 3 to 2. No fault code The oil is good and not lacking. Can you recommend me?

    Great video! I literally have a 94 530it that I'm working on restoring and I just found some crusty old 540i brake calipers for a little upgrade. So this is super helpful tutorial. Also nice touch getting rid of the casting lines. Very nice job!

      Thanks Michael! I’m glad this was helpful! 530 touring sounds awesome! Pretty rare, is it manual too?

    • @MichaelTroyMooney
      @MichaelTroyMooney 10 місяців тому

      It will be a manual eventually (started collecting swap parts) . Apparently no manual tourings sold in the US, only Europe... You wouldn't happen to know if the 540 brake calipers fit on the 530 carries do you?

    • @retrofit.garage
      @retrofit.garage 10 місяців тому

      @MichaelTroyMooney ahhh ok ok! Nice! And they are the same. 530 and 540 share the same rotors and calipers

    Does the ac still work??? Or am I loosing AC if I do that

    • @Shade_Tree_Mechanic
      @Shade_Tree_Mechanic Рік тому

      The AC system itself will work but will be overpowered by the amount of heat radiating from the heater core itself. What you can do is also put a manual valve (home Depot) on the coolant line that flows into the heater core. That's what I did for a bit on my E23 lol

    I have a X3csi that sat for 8mo. And was towed. Part of a move gone bad. 1st dash panel lights ALL on..Hard to start, tranny only engaged at 2,000rpms! Manually reset electronics and transmission a couple times. Brought new battery. $160 Walmart Engine ran smoothly but now NO gear shift. I saw a Latin mechanic YT Descride the same issue, but named part transmission range sensor .

    I have tried to change that and I was successful but it still would not going to reverse. The car reads that it's in reverse but it doesn't actually back up. My question is does the fluid have to be all the way topped off for it to actually going to reverse after I replaced it with the new part?

    Very helpful video, thanks! I am having a problem after doing this on my 08 328xi. Got it all buttoned back up, put ~3 quarts in it, went to start it to put the rest in; and it wouldn't start. Acted like it was in a different gear other than park. Does the electronic shift selector/slider thingie need to be in a specific spot or something? I am pretty sure that I didn't mess with anything else under there... I'm nervous to put it back together again and have to rinse & repeat a 3rd time... so I am hoping for someone to help me with an "AH HA" moment! Thanks!
