The real set sold for $600 brand new. It was nicely made. The episode guide booklet in the real set is stapled, the fake one is square bound. Also, the cover of the box on the fake set is lighter, you can tell the original image was photocopied then printed in the box. The lid keeper silk was there to look like an old coffin keep. Ebay has 10+ fake sets for every real one. The fake sets used to be at flea markets for $100. Not sure I they still are as I haven't been to one in years. Great video!!

Are the Vul-kars interchangeable between the Race board and the Curse board? Does the Race one fit properly on the Curse one?

ah yes: Reused Music - The Original Soundtrack

The original coffin was also contained in a large plastic bag covering it inside the custom shipping box.

I got my from Walmart and lucked out. Mine also came in the cardboard box with special inserts--and the description of the coffin is on the outside of the carboard box itself. Walmart was a great price and awesome perfect set.

I ended up with the counterfeit. All the discs play except I think 1 had trouble. I put it in the DVD player and it played. Weird it wouldn't play in the blu-ray player. Right after getting it I learned of this. Still pissed hahaha

I wanted to buy the set off of Amazon I heard that a lot of the desks don’t work it’s just a black screen on some and they don’t work I wonder if they fixed the issue

Awesome story. I grew up in the 80s and first played D&D at 13-14 years old.

I got my set and flipped because the coffin box had two corners ripped like on the counterfeit pictured here. Further inspection and watching this video assured me I have a legit copy but one packed by a guy who hated his job or grabbed it roughly when slipping it into the plastic bag. I ordered from Amazon, which sent me a copy shipped by MPI to Amazon (label still on box). That outer box was also numbered: 3645 of 5010. Glad to have this Holy Grail in house. I was okay with Prime until they made it "free with ads" and charged for random episodes. I knew I had to go big or go home and just buy it. Total cost: $412.60. No regrets!

We are all just kids at heart because I also laughed at large Dehole when I unboxed my copy. Thanks for the upload!

I've seen a review on one of the Amazon sets that the episodes that were supposed to be in color, were not.

You had me worried for a bit. I bought my set from the Amazon warehouse several years ago but the box was broken when I got it. Thankfully, my discs are 8 gig, so I guess I'm good. I want to resell my set after I binge it. I'm only on disc 46 at the moment.

Thank you for posting this. I had no idea and I’m shopping around for one of these coffin sets. I already have the complete series from MPI but they are just in normal cases individually and take up a lot of room.

My first experience with D&D was in 1986. A classmate was reading one of the manuals instead of studying. I was so captivated by the cover art that I passed him a note asking what the heck is that? His reply was to pass me the Basic D&D players book (Red) and the instruction to 1. Read, 2. return when done, 3. talk with him about it. That's how it started and I'm still playing RPGs today. The edition that you could not remember was Master. BECMI- Basic, Expert, Companion, Master, Immoral - It's been a few months so you probably already figured that out. :)

Regarding Dunwich pronounciation, as an American, I would have probably mispronounced it as well had I not been an English Premier League football fan. But I remember how they pronounced Norwich City ("Norrich"), and so that helps me remember.

Apparently similar, but different. You got 2 minis (male and female commander) and 2 decks (1 for the female commander and the other for the male commander). A really nice expansion, congrats! Still today, I can't believe we got Heroquest back after 30 years waiting. It's a dream come true (at least for me). Have fun!
