Camping In Japan, But We Can't Stop Fighting
Переглядів 24411 місяців тому
Mariko and I have returned to one of our favourite FREE campgrounds in Hiroshima prefecture. It's a bit of a sentimental place for us. However, this time around was different. In the days leading up to this weekend, we were already well into a solid 48 hour bender of fighting and arguing with eachother. Fighting with your spouse can feel like torture, but it's only because ya love each other. A...

Getting drunk at a free campsite in Hiroshima, Japan.

Well, this weekend didn't quite turn out as planned. However, we still made the most of it! We had our sights set on a nice campground just north of Hiroshima. But upon arrival we were told the campground wasn't open yet due to flooding. After some quick thinking we found a nice little free campground just off the highway. It was all we could have asked for in the moment. Other than the nearby ...

Living Off of Vending Machines - Hiroshima Japan

Hey friends. In this weeks video Mariko and I attempted to subsist on nothing but vending machine food and drink for a full day. We did very little research on the locations as we set out on foot, but luckily Japan is known for having a plethora of interesting vending machines to choose from. Will we make it to the end of the day, or will we cave and go to the supermarket? Thanks for watching! ...

    My wife (Japanese) and I (Canadian) live in Canada but we want to apply for spousal visa. We got married in Japan and I lived there for nearly 10 years before. Our marriage was registered in Japan but right now we don't work in Japan (because we're in Canada) but we both have around $100000CAD saved up. Do you think we could get a spousal visa? We also have a baby.

    • @mack_mariko_adventures

      I am pretty positive that you can get a spousal visa. But you have to ask one of your wife's family to help you. Her family member has to go to immigration office for submitting your documents as your wife isn't in Japan.

      It took around 3 months from the time we applied to the time we received the document. Luckily the government didn't request any additional information from us because the information we submitted was sufficient. If they had requested more information it's hard to say exactly how much extra time it would take. Every case is unique! All you can do is be as diligent as possible while filling out forms and everything should work out over time.

    • @mack_mariko_adventures
      @mack_mariko_adventures Рік тому

      Hey, thanks for the comment. Hope you don't mind the spiel. This is Mack responding. I have cherry picked a few times, maybe on 6 or 7 different farms over the span of 4 seasons. How much you make varies quite a lot depending on the farm location, the weather, the yield, the pay, etc. Cherry picking is called "piece work", meaning you are paid for how much you pick. Some farms calculate this by the number of buckets you pick, some more accurately pay by the pound. As a slightly below average picker myself, there was a time when I could make between $150 - $200 CAD per day. However, this season was particularily bad for both Mariko and I. On a good day we were only pulling in around $160 between the both of us. A fast picker in optimal conditions could make anywhere between $300 and $500 a day, but these people usually get fired for being too rough with the trees. Farmers don't like to see stems, twigs, leaves or other debris mixed in with your cherries. Additionally, post-covid, everything has become more expensive as well, making it harder and harder to earn money picking cherries. However! It's really more about the experience. It is a very fun way to spend your summer. Swimming in the lake and making new friends is what it's all about. Sorry for the spiel, but cherry picking has earned a huge place in my heart so I love talking about it. 😅
