Rockstar Family Dental Office Tour
My office is like a museum. After playing music professionally for almost 9 years I've collected a lot of different things that I needed to display. So when I ran out of room at my house it seemed natural to bring the extras into the office.
Enjoy!

How Sedation Dentistry Works
Переглядів 53 тис.5 років тому
There is an overwhelming misunderstanding of how sedation dentistry works from both patients and dental professionals. I hope that this video will bring insight to what my practice does to help patients who need and want sedation to help them through their dental care. Sedation is an art form. We use scientific principles, theories, and facts to administer medications that help patients feel co...
Rockstar Family Dental Company Profile

Many people including patients and dental personnel ask about why the company is called Rockstar Family Dental. I hope this video helps answer that question and brings insight about the company philosophy. I wanted the world to see how I am passionate about both of my professions; Dentistry and Music. Dentistry and music are not just jobs to me, it is my life.
How Dental Sedation Works - Conscious Sedation
Переглядів 134 тис.5 років тому
This was a patient who had never been sedated and asked that we film the process. We agreed to do so as long as this patient agreed to let me use it for educational training. Conscious Sedation is a level of sedation that allows the patient to remain conscious however, the drugs will cause the patient the forget most to all of the memories of the procedure. This is the magic of the drugs; memor...
Easy IO Placement - Starting an IV in a patient's bone
Переглядів 6 тис.7 років тому
In some emergency situations it is necessary for medical personnel to start an IV in a person's bone in order to deliver life-saving medications and fluids. This is not uncommon with children as their veins can be hard to find. So here's the backstory; someone told me that starting an IV in your bone is actually less painful than a regular IV catheter. Naturally I questioned the legitimacy of t...
Dental Sedation for a Child
Переглядів 73 тис.7 років тому
This video was made to help our patients understand how IV Conscious Sedation works in the dental office. This was a sedation appointment for a child who was having 2 baby teeth removed for her orthodontic (braces) treatment. The important part about this sedation is that she is conscious and communicating (talking) which helps keep her safe. Most dental treatment can be completed at this level...
Understanding IV Conscious Sedation
Переглядів 170 тис.7 років тому
There are a lot of misconceptions about what IV conscious sedation is in the dental office. I use this video to help educate fellow dentists that I train in IV conscious sedation in hopes to increase their understanding of where their patients should be on the spectrum of consciousness.

I'm about to go for an incredibly complicated wisdom tooth removal. The last time I had this sedation I remember suddenly being super aware of the doctor talking and looking at the inside of my stomach and I started panicking and gagging. Then they held me down and I don't remember much after. Hoping for no repeat

🚩 What do they actually inject with a syringe into your gum after numbing it by rubbing something into it. Is it an antibiotic? That injection should not be very long and painful and make you swirl in a chair like a caught on a hook warm, but a quick “bite” (my sad experience during a deep cleaning session.) When I had my tooth extracted, that’s exactly how the injection was - a quick bite. 😢

I had twice failed extraction of the 3rd molar ( last wiadom on left lower) and twice the dentist tried to numb with multiple local anesthesia injections and it didnt work ,so after 2 horrible visits to private dentists, a dental teaching hospital informed me they have a deep sedation option available , my concern is that if i get excruciating pain while being numb and unable to move what will i do then ??i twice got up from chair due to severe pain , though i had 5 root canals , two extractions of the upper two wisdom tooths on each side....yet its getting impossible with local anesthesia and i am in living hell at the moment , one thing i know is that every dentist i came across is reluctant to perform under general anathesia...so what are my options ? We see the docs interviews everyday on youtube but where are rhe genuine patients who went through this IV process ?

i did it today for 4 teeth, was stressed out but just a little bit after they put in the sedation in the IV i fell into a nice sleep, i dont even remember falling asleep either, just having cool, fun thoughts that i realized later on were dreams. I woke up completely finished and it felt like I jumped forward in time. Like i was asleep for 2 seconds and woke up all done. No pain at all, but I do wonder if I was acting like this in the video and just can't remember.

For those of us who suffer from severe vasovagal syncope, allergies to epinephrine, and severe dental and needle phobia, I'd like to know what the protocol is for sedating someone who's already in syncope, or who goes in to syncope while sedated. My nightmare scenario is having my blood pressure fall through the floor, becoming dizzy, getting pins and needles, the cold sweats, and going 90% of the way to passing out before then being sedated or during sedation, and being aware in that moment of the absolute nightmarish shit hole than I'm in. I don't care if I don't remember any of it afterwards, I don't want to be aware of it at all. Reply

Why do I have a high tolerance to dental sedation ? My dentist usually uses more than one injection of lidocaine to numb the area. For my wisdom teeth extraction, nitrous oxide and IV sedation did not make me unconscious.

  • @1000000man1

I have become resistant to local anaesthetic. The last time I had a filling done was agonising. I'm not exaggerating. The NHS refuses to give me general anaesthetic for a filling and suggests conscious sedation, but as you know, because you have included it into the video, conscious sedation does not block pain, because it is not an anesthetic. They Just keep suggesting it, no matter how many times I explain that it is NOT a solution. I have had conscious sedation before for a gastroscopy and No, i didn't get amnesia. I remember everything. I remember struggling with the tube in my throat and being unable to do as i was asked. All it does is make you less able to communicate and even follow instructions. How on earth is that supposed to help??? Why do they want me to go through the pain of a drill in my teeth, without a working anaesthetic, and without the ability to move and communicate properly???????

I have a cracked molar. New dentist (my old dentist retired) wants to do a crown or filling. Injected me and did not get numb. So did it again. Started getting numb. She rushed it I think. I jumped when she took the filling out. So injected me again! SIX injections. Now, I started feeling bad. Sweating and cold and a headache. They took my BP. I was 190/ 90 for about an hour. Finally went home about 2 hours later. I'm not going back to that dentist. She put a temporary filling in. But would not continue with the crown based on my BP spike. Cardiologist cleared me- He gave me Clonidine for emergency use. Can the tooth be fixed with a filling?

I've just been sedated today for the first time. The wooziness hit me very quickly, and I must have blacked out pretty quick. All I remember was a brief moment of going "ahhh!" which was probably as they administered the anaesthetic injection, and I didn't see anything. Next thing I knew, I was being wheeled into the recovery room. I was completely unaware of the procedure, and I remember trying to ask "is it done already?", but I could barely speak. They call it 'conscious sedation', but I think that might be from their perspective during the treatment because, to me, it felt like being switched off and experiencing a time jump. Like many of the others here, I am very anxious about medical procedures, and I already felt like I was going to pass out just from the cannula going into my hand and the other prep they were doing. I guess the best thing about the experience is being unaware of the procedure. The very best of luck to anybody else who's going for one of these soon.

    • @beardedbros7215

It’s called “conscious sedation” because you can still respond somewhat to touch and some sounds. Otherwise, it’s similar to being asleep. I was going to have it done earlier today. But I felt uncomfortable and too anxious.
