      Having something go wrong at Golgotha the first time is pretty standard. That hole got me one time. Only after did I learn that the long jump prompt message means the fall is lethal. If no message pops up then the jump down the hole is okay. The other green holes are okay. Well, relatively. The fall won't get you, but the chute crabs might.

      @@OkamiesGaming That may also turn out to be hilarious. If you get the mechanical wings, there is a chance each round that you fall to the ground. Falling from 5 stories up can be a bad time. If you are a mutant with wings, just make sure to get them up to level 6.

    Very nice, some cave exploring! When you enter a special place like ruins you often need to go straight down (you can see the name of the zone on top of the minimap). Most special zones have guaranteed loot at the bottom level. If you leave the screen (top/bottom/sides) you will enter the generic caves. But it can of course also be very rewarding to just explore these random caves. You can go really really deep and get lost pretty easy in them though. You encountered a Girshling burrower in the ruins and this green eel creature. They both can create walls and block off areas that you want to discover. You can always use CTRL + Any Direction to force attack in the direction, hitting walls. The walls of the creatures you encounter (and the sprouting orb that trapped you in the end) are pretty soft/brittle and you can just remove them by attacking with any weapon. But there are also special tools or abilities that allow you to just smash through harder walls with ease. That way you can get into any hidden rooms. Whenever I see a creature spawning walls, I immediately go and try to stop them if I can, because it can be annoying when they block all the pathways. And about teleportation... maybe you will find something that will enable that for your character. Cybernetics can be very helpful. Also don't forget to get your AV (Armor Value) as high as possible. That stat is really important especially in the early game. Most Armor will decrease your DV (dodge value) but that is fine.

      I had noticed in the ruin when I was heading down to see the Bears, but it kind of slipped my mind since then. Thanks for the tip! I was really trying to figure out how to destroy things since the game wasn’t letting me attack them. The first thing I’m going after is those plants that keep impaling me! Teleportation feels so common for the enemies. I say that, but it’s probably less than 1%, heh. I’ll keep an eye out for AV. This character seems like they should be more tanky than dodgy anyway.

    Hey, nice to see you continue the journey. Have a happy new year! You left some of the 6 Day Stilts undiscovered! The road goes around in a circle if you follow it. Its not only 2 screens, its the whole grid 3x3 Screens (1 Parasang). There are a lot more random merchants there. Books are best for XP, since money won't be too much of a problem at some point. You explore the rest later, too, if you want some more action first (and probably already recorded that).

    A very important thing in Qud is the water ritual. You can ask any legendary creature (like the pink robot you discovered and rebuked) or other important people to engage in the water ritual. Its a sacred rite, that will give you reputation with whatever the other participant has rep with. So if, for example you do the water ritual with someone who is loved by dogs (this info is shown when you look at them) and hated by cannibals, you will gain +reputation with dogs and - reputation with cannibals. After the ritual you can use reputation as a currency to learn things, sometimes just secrets or in other cases even whole new abilities! The ritual is sacred and bonds you together, keep that in mind! You also get reputation when killing said creature btw. just the other way around, you get good rep with people that hate them and vise versa. Reputation is an important part of the game and is randomized between factions with each new character. Reputation can alter your runs significantly!

      I’ve never actually clicked on that interaction before, so I’ll need to experiment with it. I also need to figure out why the Recoil back to the village didn’t work. Maybe there are different sizes of batteries, or perhaps "full" didn’t actually mean fully charged when I tried it.

    • @commander_fu6457
      @commander_fu6457 Місяць тому

      @@OkamiesGaming Yeah batteries have different amounts of energy but that is actually not the problem I recon. I think you accidentally equipped the battery into your hand instead of installing it into the recoiler. You need to always right-click the item that you want to power and then choose install cell, as you did with the other recoiler. Btw I just lost my level 28 Character and he was on its way to become very powerful :D Thats Qud though! Started the next one already and can't wait to uncover new things.

    That was one crazy "first" ruin you cleared there. Actually mutant characters can have mutations to release all sorts of gases, can be pretty strong! But maybe the Issachari dude was just lactose intolerant. Oh and PS: That book you picked is one that is not lore, it has very valuable gameplay related information that you might need at some point, but you will see for yourself if it comes to it :D But yeah picking a reward is not letting you see what it actually is. Sometimes you get some crazy stuff through quests and its fun discovering it.

    • @commander_fu6457
      @commander_fu6457 Місяць тому

      @@OkamiesGaming I think it depends. You should probably read the main story that comes through dialogues with the characters you meet but you don't need to read all the yellow books (they contain more in-depth lore bits and background knowledge often written "by the npcs" that live in that world). If you like to read them go ahead its wonderfully written, but for viewer retention you could cut it out or only include specific parts that are interesting. The lore runs pretty deep in this game from what I have experienced so far and there are also side-quests and faction stories that you can find that can be very interesting and rewarding. There is so much but you don't need to stress doing it all in one go, its actually nice to find new things with all the characters you will play over time (cause the game is not pulling punches^^).

      Haha yeah but sometimes even that is not enough. The game can be very tough. Congratz to the first death! The jungles are a bit much for that level/equipment, so be aware of which biome you are in because the difficulty is mostly tied to them. The canyons/marshes/mountains are pretty easy, the desert comes next, there are some scary enemies but they are avoidable at least. For the jungles you want to be a bit more prepared and the jungle ruins can be REALLY scary but also very rewarding. I would suggest going through the desert a bit before you venture off into the east. Can't wait for the next character you play and all the things that you will discover with it!

  • @commander_fu6457

    Wow your first item you successfully examine is a gyrocopter backpack haha. That is crazy. You can get away with flying from many dangerous enemies! Beware that examining success is tied to intelligence and the tinkering skill. If its not working out some other tinker can help you in the villages. The recoiler you have teleports you back to the village joppa if you use it (it needs a battery cell)." Also good decision with the Freezing Ray it is a very helpful mutation. And about Wayfaring: Don't underestimate the use of utility skills like cooking or wayfaring, even though you are not mainlining intelligence it is always a nice pickup that stops you from getting lost all the time and it can make you find interesting places when wandering the overmap (it will say "you some interesting place, do you want to investigate?" if you skill the biom types and roam them). But focusing on combat is also good for now! All in due time!

      I’m getting the sense that support skills are going to play a big role in this game. The few buffs I’ve tried so far seem to last for a while, so they’re not just short-term, 5-second consumables. Honestly, I feel like I’m playing the game fairly quickly, even though the videos don’t always reflect that pace. Normally, I’d spend more time exploring, but since this is for a video, I feel the need to keep pushing forward to maintain momentum.

    • @commander_fu6457

      @@OkamiesGaming Yes buffs can be really good in Qud. I can understand that pressure, but just keep in mind, you don't have to push harder because of the recording. Just voicing your thoughts and ideas/plans while playing is what keeps the video entertaining, even when its just looking through the inventory sometimes. The zooms are a nice touch btw! You are actually having quite the run. For your first time it is going really well. But you will hit a wall soon I think, cause there will be a significant difficulty increase for the missions, where bee-lining the main quest might become too hard. The interesting part will be, if you notice soon enough, before the metaphorical wall crushes you, or you can manage somehow :D Either way it will be interesting to watch!

You should take them manually. The corpses were still on the ground (the blood splatter sprite) and you don't really need to carry around all those hacked off limbs unless you want to roleplay your character loving to collect limbs :D Another really nice quality of life thing: You can toggle showing items in your proximity, which will take some space on the top of the textlog and display all items that are on the ground next to you. Its one of the buttons right above the textlog irc.

      I definitely felt a bit foolish when I realized my mistake while editing the video! I’ll take a closer look at that option and decide whether it’s something I want to include in the series. Thanks for the info!

      @@OkamiesGaming No worries, the game can be quite overwhelming and its just natural to make these mistakes. Don't need to feel foolish about it at all! Your playthrough is very enjoyable keep it up!

    This game goes super deep. There are crazy things you can do later on. Other dimensions, cloning and time manipulation are a thing. (I highly recommend reading the steam achievement titles of the game) On the skills: All skills have a category. Your base character can have things unlocked without having the category unlocked depending on their background/archetype. If you want to learn new skills of a category you have to unlock the category first, which usually gives you the first skill for free (the one you tried to learn for example).

      Thanks for the information! It’s one of the reasons I picked up this game. The current character is the one recommended by the tutorial, but I’m excited to try out new builds and explore the character creation customization. For now, I’ll stick with this character and see how far I can go. That said, I fully expect to be blindsided and destroyed by something I wasn’t prepared for.

      Starting out and finding new things and reading everything is one of the fun parts of this game. For people that like messing around with new things, going with Classic Mode and trying out new builds after each untimely end to an adventure is novel. Otherwise, they have a Roleplay Mode for people who want to keep going with one character without losing too much progress.

      I love playing Cataclysm: DDA, and I quickly learned that reloading to avoid death takes away the thrill of the game, without risks, the fun disappears. While I don’t mind if others choose to do it, I personally avoid reloading unless it’s due to a bug. I’m enjoying this run, but in some ways, I’m eager for it to end. Right now, I’m limiting my playtime between episodes; if I play 20 hours off-camera between episodes 5 and 6, my approach to the game will shift significantly.

    I would love feedback on the multiple speed up while traveling I did in this episodes and also on the cut for a bit of lore ua-cam.com/video/x3s6WId21Xs/v-deo.html What would you as a viewer like to see and what would be better speed up or simply cut? Everyone time is important but i dont want to remove things that people actually found enjoyable :)
