    Very nice, some cave exploring!
When you enter a special place like ruins you often need to go straight down (you can see the name of the zone on top of the minimap). Most special zones have guaranteed loot at the bottom level. If you leave the screen (top/bottom/sides) you will enter the generic caves. But it can of course also be very rewarding to just explore these random caves. You can go really really deep and get lost pretty easy in them though.
You encountered a Girshling burrower in the ruins and this green eel creature. They both can create walls and block off areas that you want to discover. You can always use CTRL + Any Direction to force attack in the direction, hitting walls. The walls of the creatures you encounter (and the sprouting orb that trapped you in the end) are pretty soft/brittle and you can just remove them by attacking with any weapon. But there are also special tools or abilities that allow you to just smash through harder walls with ease. That way you can get into any hidden rooms. Whenever I see a creature spawning walls, I immediately go and try to stop them if I can, because it can be annoying when they block all the pathways.
And about teleportation... maybe you will find something that will enable that for your character. Cybernetics can be very helpful.
Also don't forget to get your AV (Armor Value) as high as possible. That stat is really important especially in the early game. Most Armor will decrease your DV (dodge value) but that is fine.

I had noticed in the ruin when I was heading down to see the Bears, but it kind of slipped my mind since then.
Thanks for the tip! I was really trying to figure out how to destroy things since the game wasn’t letting me attack them. The first thing I’m going after is those plants that keep impaling me!
Teleportation feels so common for the enemies. I say that, but it’s probably less than 1%, heh.
I’ll keep an eye out for AV. This character seems like they should be more tanky than dodgy anyway.
