    Hi! Thanks so much for the video. I will be attempting to make an 8 inch sphere cake later on this week, what would you suggest i use to hold it steady and secure it the bottom? Thanks so much

      I can’t remember if I show this in the video, but I think I did. I hammer a dowel through the cake into the cake board to keep it in place. For an 8” though, I think I might use a third of a styrofoam ball on the bottom, to make sure the weight doesn’t smush it down at all.

    Hi! Thank you for the tutorial! Why do you cut all the layers of the baked cake in two? Wouldn’t it be simpler to keep them whole?

      It’s just personal preference. I like having more layers of frosting, and I find the thinner layers easier to work with for spheres.

    Hi Robyn! How long do you bake for? And at what temperature? I’m finding it very hard with regular tins and it won’t bake on the top of the semi sphere even with heating cores. Is it possible to have no board in the middle or would it collapse? Thanks!

    • @robynlovescake2005

      Hi! Don’t fill the sphere pans very full and they will bake through. The video and written tutorial lay out how I use standard pans as well as the spheres and stack them. I also explain that for sizes over 6”, I always use a board for stability just in case.

    • @rubycohenlove9772
      @rubycohenlove9772 Рік тому

      @@robynlovescake2005 okay filling them too much was probably my mistake and ended up baking for 3 hours 45 mins. And there’s a hard shell on the cake. When you use regular semi sphere pans do you bake them on something to elevate them from the tray? Should I use a heating core? Thank you so much! Really struggling!

    • @robynlovescake2005
      @robynlovescake2005 Рік тому

      @@rubycohenlove9772 I just set them on the oven racks, and I haven’t tried a core. If you don’t overfill they will bake fine, good luck! You’re aiming for just the dome bit. Your regular rounds will do the rest. There are photos on the blog and it should show in the video as well.

    Why do you put in some cardboard. That must be disturbing when you cut the cake. I am planning to do a footballcake for the first time and I cannot see the reason why I should be putting in a cardboard layer.

    • @robynlovescake2005
      @robynlovescake2005 2 роки тому

      It’s not disturbing, you just cut the top and bottom as separate cakes. It’s for support so the bottom half doesn’t collapse. As I mention in the video though, it is optional under 7” diameter; you can do whatever you’d like but with a larger cake you can expect it to sag.
