    There was rumors towards the end of his driving career that Terry was going to buy HScott Motorsports. Rumors had him putting a bid in. Not sure if that’s true, but would’ve loved to see it happen. He did own a Cup operation for a couple of races with Gander Mountain as sponsor and brother Bobby as driver.

    I Was born in 2006 so I am a late 2000s person, I didn't start watching NASCAR til 2014 and didn't start going diecast hunting in stores til 2016 but I sometimes wish I could find diecast everywhere like how it was in the 90s and 2000s when you can find them at places like not just Walmart and Target but also Dollar General. Nowadays it's just Target and Walmart that are the go-to stores for diecast collectors like myself which is a bit of a shame

    I'm lucky that there's an antique mall not too far from my house. They have tons of classic diecasts and sell them for decent prices. Last week I found a Dale Earnhardt Matchbox for $7 which is dirt cheap for anything Dale Earnhardt related.

    This is an awesome video, man. I miss the variety we used to have, and even the lower-end cheap diecast that RC/ERTL were making kicked ass. That was the early 2000s, and NASCAR about dominated the aisle. They have gone back to using the PTC molds and I wouldnt take them if they were free.

    I’m a bit late but I’d just like to touch on a story that I had that made me get into nascar. Back in the 2010s, I had no idea what nascar was, but I loved cars. My mom saw a Kyle Busch m&m’s diecast and thought it would be cool for me to have, so she brought it home for me. I instantly fell in love with the sport. This is how much diecasts mean to a little kid like I was back in the day. But now, it’s insanely hard to find nascar diecasts every time I go to the store. I wish they would be more prominent because nascar is always pushing for kids to be hooked on to the sport, but it’s hard to when you can’t find diecasts.

    One of my favourite baseball memes of well known players in the form of "[Obscure team] legend [well known player]" such as White Sox legend Ken Griffey Jr. Or Red Sox legend Rickey Henderson. Love doing the same for Nascar and racing in general, such as the epic combo of Sergio Perez at McLaren.

    When I was a kid, My Mom and Dad would go to Family Dollar to get small stuff for the house. I remember as soon as we got there, I would race (lol) to the toy aisle because I was always guaranteed the Nascar Racing Champions Die-casts. I would collect so many of them and imagined new races. I’m 24 years old now and to look back at it. Good Times! Still have them in a box locked away. I never gave them away lol

    Paul Newman was at Daytona in 1990 supporting STAN Barrett, not his son, Stanton as you mentioned. Stan was Paul's body double and stunt double in the movies as well as his best friend. Paul helped Stan land the Ultra Slim Fast sponsorship that began with the #72 and #73 team of Phil Barkdoll"s and later transferred to the #18 co-owned with Rick Hendrick and driven by Stan & Greg Sacks. This was another result of the Days of Thunder hype as Newman & Cruise were tight at the time and Paul Newman was launching his salad dressing line with the same company who owned Slim Fast around the same time.

    It was great when we had multiple companies making nascar diecasts. Lionel is garbage. I’ve got about 3 grand worth of their diecasts where the wraps have begun peeling. And if you talk about it on their forum, they ban you. They’re liars and thieves.

    • @AnthonyLincoln-sg1py

      @@AnthonyLincoln-sg1pyif you don’t own any of the ones from 2018-2020, you should be fine. When they lowered the details in 2018, they also changed something in the curing process that caused a lot of diecasts from those years decals to start bubbling up and peeling after a few months. Initially, they tried ignoring the issue until too many people starting talking about it on their forum. Then they asked for everyone to take pictures and make a list of all of the cars they had doing this. I had about 3 grand worth, although, there may be more I haven’t looked at in a while that have since started to as well. They said they were going to try to do something to help people members who had this happening. Eventually, that gave me a $160 gift card to compensate me for my $3000 loss. When I refused to quit mentioning it, their forum mod started making smart ass comments to me, once asking “why am I here, if I’m not a fan of Lionel”. I’m thinking, hey dipshit, no one is a “fan” of Lionel. We’re fans of nascar and you clowns are the only game in town. But I was civil responded why would you talk to a paying customer like that? A couple months later the nameless coward banned me without warning. They’re thin skinned con artists. If you got out in 2017, you did it just in the nick of time. They act like they’re doing the customer a favor by accepting our money. The morons can’t figure out why the hobby has gone to shit since they took over. More cars DNP every year.

    • @ben9046
      @ben9046 Рік тому

      @@AnthonyLincoln-sg1pyI should point out too, they never would specifically state what they did to cause the issue, other than just to say the factory was fixing it. So far, the few I have made after that seem to be holding up fine, the ones dated 2021-present.

    There is another cruel irony about Todd Bodine subbing for Ricky Craven at Texas in 1997. He kept the 25 car on the lead lap all day despite tangential involvement in the infamous Lap 1 crash. But the 25 was leading late in the race before becoming involved in a wreck leading Jeff Burton, the ultimate winner.
