What a cast this film had including a young Bob Fosse!

everytime I rewatch this I think he says "finger feminine girls"

One of my favorite Keel moments. Being basically a bass/baritone in range it was considerate to transpose this great number for Keel down a half tone. The film version KISS ME, KATE was decent but some censoring some of the spoken & musical text. At least this number was left pretty much intact & Keel, at this time, was the ideal for this role as MacRae was for Billy Bigelow in CAROUSEL 3 years later.

Just loved this film with one of the great basses from the past! Howard was a huge inspiration to my own interpretation of the role.

I've tried to like modern musicals, but I just.............. Can't. It's slightly older people , yes............ But singing razor-sharp witty lyrics, to ear-worm tunes....... As opposed to pubescents belting predictable wails about their EMOTIoNS into microphones.......... OKOK, I'm evil and bad and horrible. But when did you last just lean back in your seat while watching a musical, and think, "Wow, that was CLEVER!" ??

Where did that runway come from? It isn't there the rest of the movie. Perhaps it just juts out for that number, knocking down some musicians and audience members, but oh well.

Les parapluies de Cherbourg seems to be a jazz opera. The music is very beautiful and its interesting how the score is composed!!

I forgot how terrific Howard Keel is in this number! He is first class. We're lucky that we have him on film doing this great Cole Porter number. I'm wondering how kindly Porter took to having to launder some of his lyrics for MGM's audience.
