    Hey im looking to buy a new camera and have 2 options either Sony a5100 or Nikon d5200 , I don’t mind not having Wi-Fi , but I do mind not having an audio jack, Sony doesn’t have an audio jack and I need to shoot concert videos and take portraits , which one should I choose and why ?

    The entry level is a marketing statement in many ways, if you put a good lense on this camera it can outperform a ""professional camera"" with a not so good lense, i have this camera with a 35mm nikon 1.8G and i got better results than with other "pro cameras" at the end of the days is always the indian not the arrow, also this cameras was some years ahead of its time,, back in 2013 i even did 3 music videos with this camera shot one with the kit and a 50mm and another with the 35mm Lol

    How do you think the video quality would be for a beginner in recording content? I'm looking at this camera for a road trip in the national parks mainly for stills and know it will definitely get the job done, but would like to the option to use it as a face camera for gaming content.

    • @onenonestudio
      @onenonestudio 4 місяці тому

      Hello, I will do my best to answer your questions. Please don't hesitate to ask if you have more. Video Quality for Beginners: I shot a vlog-oriented video with the Tokina 11-20mm and another video with the Tokina 24-70mm on a tripod while on a ferry. (I have included the links at the bottom of this comment.) These are good examples to check out. If you already have the Nikon D5200, you can try it out, but I believe there are better alternatives for video. Road Trip in National Parks: For landscape photography, I have no complaints about the Nikon D5200 (though more megapixels would be nice). However, shooting animals, especially birds, is challenging due to poor autofocus. I often resort to manual focusing for bird photography, sometimes I missed the focus which is disappointing when reviewing my photos after trips. Additionally, the lack of built-in Vibration Reduction is a downside. The built-in microphone performs poorly in windy conditions, and I don't like the quality at all. (You can check out the Rode Wireless ME video for comparison.) Face Camera for Gaming: I've never tried connecting the D5200 to a computer, but I can mention a few limitations: it has recording time limits, performs poorly in low light, and might overheat(never experienced that). It's better to confirm if it's possible to connect it to a computer for recording sessions. Summary: Personally, I find the video quality of the D5200 lacking by 2024 standards. That's why I'm waiting for an update to the Nikon Z6/7 III if they announce it. Thank you for your comment ✌️ Videos which I mentioned; Vlog - low light Video with the Tokina 11-20mm: ua-cam.com/video/AC2oEKo-M3U/v-deo.html Video with the Tokina 24-70mm on a tripod while on a ferry: ua-cam.com/video/yKbO4pe4E2o/v-deo.html Rode Wireless ME video for audio quality: ua-cam.com/video/hBE1NGl_0Pg/v-deo.html

      @onenonestudio 4 місяці тому

      I bought Nikon D5200 brand new as an entry-level camera 11 years ago, and despite its drawbacks, it has served me well over the years. The main reason for choosing the Nikon D5200 was its price at the time. I learned, tried, and experimented with it, capturing nice pictures along the way. Yes, there are some drawbacks, and now I'm looking for an upgrade to a mirrorless Nikon, probably a Nikon Z6 III if they announce one. I would also love to test a D850, but the secondhand market in Turkey is quite hard to navigate. It's very difficult to find clean gear at a reasonable price. I hope this channel will grow, allowing me to try out as much gear as possible. Thank you for your comment ✌️

I think Photoshop is much more capable, and I'm very familiar with that program. For archiving and multiple edits, I prefer Lightroom. Also, if you don't want to spend money on subscriptions, you can try Nikon software called NX Studio. (I haven't used NX Studio for years, by the way, so my advice is limited on that.)

    The Nikon initially came out with AF-S lenses, and then AF-P lenses. On the AF-P, focus hunting is reduced. Great content out there. Keep posting videos with the D5200.

      Thank you for your support! I haven't tried AF-P lenses before, but after your useful information, I'll definitely give them a try if I get the chance. I find that the D5200 lacks a bit for video work, but it's still a nice tool for stills with proper exposure. I'll continue posting and stick with my camera until Nikon announces the Z6/Z7 III with an improved autofocus system.

    Subscribed to your channel! Keep up the good work showcasing your good work. I had a query though - how reliable is the autofocus on the Tokina AT-X compared to the stock Nikon AF-P lenses? I didnt see a single second of hunting.

    • @onenonestudio
      @onenonestudio 5 місяців тому

      Hello, thank you for your support! I usually shoot videos using manual focus or autofocus single servo mode. I didn't include focusing moments in the video, which is why there's no hunting for focus. I believe hunting is more related to the camera body. I can only compare this lens with a Nikon AF-S lens (NIKON 18-55MM F:3.5-5.6 AF-S DX LENS), and I think their performances are quite similar. I'll be shooting a comparison video soon, which I believe might be useful. Additionally, as far as I know, the Nikon D5200 doesn't fully support some AF-P lenses. The statement below is from the Nikon website regarding some of their AF-P lenses: ( www.nikonusa.com/p/af-p-dx-nikkor-70-300mm-f45-63g-ed-vr/20062/overview ) 'Compatible models with limited functions: D5, D810 series, Df, D750, D7200, D7100, D5200, Nikon 1 series with the FT1' I'm not sure what the limited functions exactly✌️

    • @onenonestudio
      @onenonestudio 7 місяців тому

      Teşekkür ederim :) I’m good thanks, How are you? I’m basically select High Gain on the Rode Wireless ME and manually set Camera’s internal gain according to the levels on the camera while I’m talking. This issue is also answered out specifically on Rode website. Below you can see their detailed answer about that. I’m directly copy paste from their website. You can check from their website for more information. (rode.com/en/user-guides/wireless-me) ‘’Camera Settings Many cameras come with a number of audio settings enabled by default, such as equalisation, noise reduction and AGC (Automatic Gain Control) - these are primarily implemented to improve the sound of the camera’s on-board microphone, which is typically of low quality. Turn all of these settings off when using your camera with your Wireless ME. When setting your camera gain, start low and use the Wireless ME’s output gain control to increase the volume if needed. Your audio level should be jumping around the 70% mark of the level meter while you or your subject is talking. If your output gain is set to High, increase your camera’s gain in small increments until the desired audio level is achieved.’’

      @@onenonestudio teşekkürler, makes sense. I just ordered this, I was confused between this mic or the wireless Go. I decided to go for this as it looks easier to use. Great video - love Istanbul. I visit every year. Kind regards from the UK

      Yeah, I also thought that way while looking for mics. ME looks easier to use over GO for me. I shoot all of my videos with ME and didn’t regret it. I hope you will be have fun with that too. Thanks again for your comment,bye✌️

    Good content, I'm still a beginner and want to learn on a limited budget, which one do you recommend between Nikon D3300 and Nikon D5200 to buy, thank you..

      Hello thank you for your comment. I didn’t use/test a Nikon D3300. With its articulated screen Nikon D5200 looks more convenient for my use case scenarios. However I don’t have chance to compare image quality between each other. Also price and condition (if you are looking for used one) is a big factor in your decision. I hope you will choose the best one for you✌️

    Merhaba Türk bir takipçin olarak yorumumu da Türkçe yazmak istedim D5200 için detaylı bilgilendirme videosu çeker misin acaba internette D5200 tanıtan kimse yok yararlı bir video olacağını düşünüyorum videonun amacı olarak daha çok makinenin ayarlarını ele alırsan daha güzel olabilir.

    Thank you. I'm thinking about getting one to pair with my D610. I'm looking forward to trying it with the 18-55mm AFP for video

      You are welcome, I think video specs/quality is not the best for today’s standards as I explained in the video. I hope you will like it✌️

    You can tell how very skilled a photographer/videographer is when they use an old DSLR to make excellent images that rival today's mirrorless users. Excellent video. I'm really sold on getting this lens. I use both Nikon DSLR F mounts and Z mirrorless bodies. Have subscribed immediately. Thanks.🎉

      Thank you very much for your support! Comments like this motivates me in this journey. Nikon D5200 is still capable body even this day for my photography needs. However modern mirrorless bodies have some advantages over my D5200 especially in autofocus technology, low light performance and image stabilization. I plan to review again using the FTZ adapter once I upgrade to mirrorless body. (hope Nikon Z6 III will be announced until that day) Thanks again, have a good day✌️

    Nice review. I think these are ideal for travel due to their small size and weight and I like that Rode included all the cables to connect to iPhone, camera and computer.

      Thank you! I think so too. It’s almost full package for my needs. There are few missing features as I mentioned in the review. If these are not deal breaker, this mic is very suitable travel gear✌️
