Okay good. Glad to know y’all will still be around for 2025.
Absolutely! We're excited to keep the conversation going and hope to see you right there with us!
I JUST missed the summit. 😢
You can still pay for the replays I believe you have up to a year to purchase them.
❤
🍁🍂Great content! Thanks for sharing this helpful information.🤗🍂🍁
You are so welcome! We're thrilled to know that you're benefiting from what we do here.
Loved this interview! Chonda presented some excellent points to reflect on. I left corporate years ago so I have crossed that hurdle. As a soloprenuer, I need to restructure my consulting biz so I can live anywhere. Currently working on the money part e.g. figuring out how much I can live on etc. Great interview!
We're so glad you loved it! It sounds like you're making big moves! Please let us know how we can support you in this next chapter, or if there are any topics you'd like us to tackle on the show.
I loved the insight here!!😊
🍁🍂Excellent content! There were so many nuggets of wisdom shared throughout this conversation.🍂🍁
So happy to hear that you got something valuable from it! Chonda is fantastic. We're thrilled we got the chance to share her wisdom with you all!
I love it, we are not big doers, lol
@rosearthur2332, RIGHT?! Let's start living into THAT!
It is true that creating a new perspective of your work situation becomes your reality.
Absolutely! We're glad this resonated with you. How will you be creating new perspectives for your work situation?
You can say NO. You don't have to be taken advantage of to gain momentum. I've seen plenty of "good opportunities" end up being nightmares because I didn't stop to make sure it truly aligned with me and how I want to show up in the world. I recognize that I was just so happy to be asked, that I said yes, until I realized that was doing more harm than help. Standing up for myself in this way has changed so much for me. Thanks for having me on the show to share my story 'Tine Zekis, M.Ed. This is was such a fun conversation!!
Girl, YES! Thank you for laying it out like that for all of us. You can say NO! It's so important to understand your own boundaries, priorities, and motivations when deciding what to take on and what to pass along. I hope we've inspired someone to say NO today!
@@GettingBlackWomenPaid Yassss!
25:26 this was my favorite part!!
I can talk about this NOW as if it was easy, but I've had to get over the fear of being cancelled, get over people pleasing, and get over the fact that I won't be liked by everyone. And it was hard at the beginning because as I was being polarizing and doing all these things it wasn't as if I immediately found my people. That being said, as I've kept at it, I've now finally found MY PEOPLE and that has made it all worth it!!! It's been the positive reinforcement I've needed to keep doing all the hard things because I've seen that they pay off in long run, not just because I did something hard, but because I did something hard that was aligned with me, my dreams, and how I want to show up in the world. This was such an amazing conversation, 'Tine! Thanks so much for having me on the show!
💻
Yes! So excited to see you getting serious about a pivot into software! 💻👩🏽💻
I am getting into development after spending 25 years on the biztech side.
@chondasaine4331, YES! This is so awesome! Hit me up if you run into any challenges along the way. I've been there and I can't wait to help you along this same journey!
So excited for you, @chondasaine4331! Please keep us posted on how it goes!
Thanks for the info
Ileka- There is no shame in adjusting your trajectory mid-stream; it's a lesson you can share with your clients.
Thank you! Great comments
Hello! Ageism is really a problem. I am almost 61 years old and I have always liked studying. But I must confess that people, especially young people kind of look at me with strange looks.
Stay positive & confident. I bet you know so much more than they know. You got this!!!
@monicaaparecidaoliveira8063, thank you so much for sharing. We're so glad to hear that you like studying and we hope you continue to do it no matter what kind of looks come your way. People are often jealous of a life-long learner, because they will always know so much more than them. Keep doing you, friend!
@cdiggins2612, exactly! Sometimes people just can't handle our greatness.
Hi ladies, vey timely video! and much needed, I was feeling everything that you spoke of - can you recommend source for a skill assessment or rebooking at another career?I`ve complete your assessment sheet Tine, just feel like I`m missing more:) thank you to anyone who sees this and throws suggestions to help a sister out!
Fat seems too casual a descriptor to verbally assassinate someone to her face. However, folks DO hesitate to tell someone bluntly and face-to-face that she smokes/drinks too much, is a spousal cheater or a drug addict. Thanks for sharing this significant topic.
Thank you for answering that “Why?” question 😢
We have to be very careful about the information we share regarding weight and health. There are some ideas shared in this video that are simply untrue. I applaud you, Ileka, for doing the work and losing the weight. You look amazing. Losing weight is not easy. I've been a clinician for over a decade. It has become almost impossible to talk to patients about their weight without there being some kind of pushback. Patients don't want to talk about it, by and large. They want pills, surgery, and all the reactive treatments, but they do not want to talk about preventive measures and lifestyle changes that make the pills and surgery unnecessary. It saddens me when I hear people say things like Serena is overweight. She is an elite athlete for goodness sake. But it also saddens me to hear people say things like muscle weighs more than fat. Overall, clinicians need to do a better job of educating patients about health, wellness, and the implications of obesity. Patients, additionally, need to be more receptive to clinicians like myself who are happy to treat your sore throat but would be doing you a disservice by not addressing the elephant in the room (no pun intended).
Very well said! It's not just "black women". Over weight is associated with a myriad of health issues and psychological issues (one's self confidence etc..). A lot of doctors won't say the quiet part out loud. Our society is breaking records with teen diabetes etc. I look at a large group of black women Especially in certain regions and they are 80% obese. This is NOT good!! Look at photos of black and white people in the 1950s-70s then look at photos today.
Remember former Xerox CEO Ursula Burns rocked the itty bitty afro!
Timely topic. As an older black woman, it felt empowering "going natural" more than 10 years ago. It is a personal renaissance as I learn new hair vocabulary and choose from the many options of products that were unavailable back then. Keep coming up with more interesting topics.
This brought up some memories of the terrifying relaxer, I have sensitive scalp and they would burn me to blisters.
Loved the interview ladies, excited for this podcast #collaborationiskey
Very interesting transition.Thanks for sharing
This could have been a TED talk. Thanks, ladies.
so glad you loved it!!
Another inspiring program. Thank you.
So glad you were inspired!
Great gems to to remember. It's so important not to compare ourselves to others who may be at a different stage of success. More subscribers need to join your channel!
Great content! As a mother of two small children and business owner, the balancing act of motherhood, wife and entrepreneurship is such a journey 🫠 somehow it works. Haha
Tine, do you still offer consultations?
Good to learn the difference between salary and compensation.
Before I knew about the term code switching, I would always describe myself as a chameleon. Becoming an entrepreneur freed me of feeling that way. Now I’m curious to study how authenticity and being yourself leads to be wealth.
Oh, it definitely does bc now you have more energy to focus on what you do rather than keeping up the facade!
Insightful conversation! I’ll share with my community. I met so many Black women in STEM who feel they’ve been like balled in their salary.
Should have heard this podcast 30 years ago.
