One thing after another it seems with this old Honda TRX450 but its turning out better than expected. A few suspension flaws found, fixed, and getting our engine back from Baldwin. Almost ready for Round #5 at T-Time Acres for the District 14 ATV XC Harescrambles here in Michigan.

With only a few days between races we try to fix some of the issues with our Honda TRX450ER before Round #4 of District 14 ATV XC Racing in Michigan. Although the results were not what we had hoped for, the outcome is even better than we originally had in mind! Thanks for watching!

Round #3 District 14 ATV XC Racing GoPro! Dutch Sports Park 2021
Переглядів 6773 роки тому
This was a tight one. Bare with me as I clean the GoPro lens as often as possible. First lap was a mess but we picked up the pace as we found our groove. Some mistakes before we even started, some laughs, frustration, 92 degree heat, dusty conditions, hydration tube failed. Even after all that it was still a blast, AND we were able to secure our First Ever 1st place finish in District 14 ATV XC...

Once again we're cutting it close trying to wrap things up in prep for Round #3 at Dutch Sports Park with District 14 ATV XC. Little guy gets some new gear for his Stacyc racing and we have some issues when trying to "tune" suspension on the Honda TRX450.

    When I saw the new graphics that you had sitting on the side I looked at it and I’m like is that the same graphics that quad was for sale on Facebook I asked myself. So I went into my Facebook marketplace and looked in my saved section in there your quad was for sale for 10 grand in Leonard Michigan. I almost pulled the trigger but my brother didn’t want to take a ride up with me all the way from Pennsylvania. I even commented on it in your post on the 450r Facebook group. That was one sweet set up you had. What are you racing now? Did you switch over to Yamaha? Man those bottom ball joints are crazy trying to get off?!! I didn’t know Lonestar had those ball joints set up like that with the groove notched in. My brother and his son both run maximum ground clearance roll design long travel a arms both on there 450er’s oh and after seeing how they use these copper bushings with a silicone coating in them and it cost over $200 to replace the bushings that only last half a season I think houser is your best bet for a-arms. Yeah I just think it’s funny how I ran into your channel. I decided not to get a quad and just buy another new camera and a few lenses with the money. I’m a professional photographer I’ve been going to the PA AWRCS series in my spare time doing some races in between all the weddings and senior portraits. But yeah if my brother would’ve came up with me I would’ve definitely bought it

      Not at all. I’m 48” all the way around and do just fine. This was one of the tighter tracks that’s for sure. Per regulation all trails are a minimum of 50” wide. Might be a little tight but the raptor will do just fine!

    I don't use a chain tool. I grind the pin flat with the link and use a hammer and punch. Learned it from an old man that worked on conveyor belts at a factory.

    What suspension do you recommend for a 2013 trx450er for xc

    • @tforrest30
      @tforrest30 2 роки тому

      Depends on your budget really. A lot of great companies out there. As for A-Arms I would suggest Houser or Teixeira Tech. As for shocks Fox and Axis seem to be the favorite amongst most XC riders, your choice on springers or air shocks. I personally use Fox Float front shocks with Laeger XC arms, Hess GT Thunder linkage in the rear combine with a Fox Podium X shock and love that setup however switching to Houser arms for this coming season.

      Have cooked two of them so far within 4 races. Not sure if 24v issue or just too much bouncing around in the tray. Switching to one without the “restart technology” and going to wrap entire thing in foam to see if that helps save it a bit longer. We’ll see!

    • @tforrest30
      @tforrest30 3 роки тому

      I use a pretty nice Urmosi adjustable throttle and removed one of the throttle return springs so it’s not as bad as you’d think. I tried a twist throttle years ago and loved it when it worked. The problem was unlike a bike, your body moves and the machine stays centered for the most part. Where on a bike, the bike moves under the body, and the body stays more centered. For me personally, in deep corners it was easy to lose throttle position control and any strange rear ended buck would make you whiskey it, or cause you to let off for a second and smash your face into the fender. lol

I didn't think the quality would be good if it wasn't on a helmet. After seeing yours and Brent's, I might have to get some new mounts.
