Hey ya'll!
We are a family of five that are navigating small scale homesteading while still having full time careers. It is possible, maybe not always easy, but possible!
We hope to be a little bit of inspiration/encouragement for others to learn the "old ways" of living in this modern world. We may even learn something together!
So, come join our Couyon (crazy) adventure.

A tour of our .73 homestead
Some are shocked at how much we produce on this small piece of land. We know that there are so many people out there that want to do some of what we do but just don't think they have enough land, we are proof you can do it! It takes some creativity, but you can do more than what you think!

The post office called and our cornish cross have arrived! We are doing things a little later in the season for many reasons. Come along and hear what we do for our brooder, how we give them an extra boost after transport, and why we choose this breed every year. www.mcmurrayhatchery.com #homesteading #meatbirds #foodsecurity #farming #foryou #backyardchickens #smallscale #farmlife #joy

I wanted a reset, promote healing of my body, and a jump start for the ketogenic diet. This is a documentary type video. You will catch me at 51 hour mark and then at the 100 hour mark when I finally get to eat. This was a tough one but I did it! #fasting #health #keto #diet #homestead #struggle #challengeaccepted

hi hagan homestead 🤗 great seed haul. tfs
You are truly an inspiration! Thank you 😊
@fj2013 thank you!
Looks delicious. How do you make it?
We have a video on that....although it was in our earlier days and the audio is horrible, before a professional camera. I have been meaning to make a new one to replace the old one. I think the video is called bone broth in the instapot.
What do you use this for?
@@ccameron4857 an immune boost when we are starting to feel sick or when we are already sick. Dilute a little bit in water and shoot!
Amazing! 😊
That’s cool and nicely done
@@monoclehikes68 thank you!
@@HaganHomestead You are welcome your video shows that you don’t need a large plot of land to do a homestead
@@monoclehikes68 hopefully in the near future....that is the goal!
Love this short
It’s awesome you have your own business ! Love this & all your videos ❤
@ccameron4857 it has quite taken off just yet, bur we are trying!
Do you ship?
Thank you for the tour. You’re both amazing! Keep up the hard work. Love y'all
@@ccameron4857 love you too!
What is a "ridiculous oil", exactly?
Soybean oil, vegetable oil, sunflower oil, canola oil, basically any seed oil. They are all super inflammatory
@@HaganHomestead Interesting. So how does that precedent it's "ridiculousness" exactly? Is it funny that's its inflammatory? Or perhaps you mean it's hard to believe that its inflammatory?
@@Emarq31 it's ridiculous that they are put in foods. There are so many other options for a good fat. These options are cheap and yes inflammatory to our bodies...so yes I find them ridiculous. It's ridiculous that companies go cheap and make us sick as a country. This is just my opinion. We prefer good olive oil, coconut oil, butter and tallow.....not highly processed ridiculous oils. Thank you for asking so that I could expand on that, some may not know to look for these oils!
@@HaganHomestead Now, THAT is something I can back 100%. Thank you. 😊👍🏼
Should have made a shoutout to Telsha on the purple cabbage😜😂
@teshaclick5630 yes! I so meant to and I kept getting interrupted. I legit got 47 phone calls, 5 door bell rings, dogs barking etc lol
😂😂😂😂
Yummy 😊
Are your greens crispy. Im about 2 weeks past harvest and mine look wilted. Will they still taste the same?
They were crispy and ideal before canning. I don't think slightly wilted would be an issue but definitley not too wilted because that will also affect taste
Very Interesting. ( Meat birds) Learning so much. God bless y'all.
@ccameron4857 yes! We have birds strictly as laying hens and then we raise this breed that grows to full size in 8 weeks for our freezers. It's just like breeds of cows....some are for meat and some are for milk.
Brittany you’re so pretty!!. Love seeing the boys. Another great short.
Thanks Aunt Cara! You always have such kind words!
Yummy
What a great meal prep!
❤
I’m proud of you both! Inspiring. Your kids are awesome 😊❤ keep posting
Time for a trip down to Pizza Pirate bud. Lol
Good for you. Going into a Keto diet? Sugar is my downfall too.
@LillianBentley-pf7dx yes I am! I have done it in the past and I have never felt so good. My sourdough will have to wait....and yes sugar is addictive for sure!
As always love watching your channel. 100 hours! Impressive 😊
@ccameron4857 thank you aunt cara!
Now Mom I need to come visit you for a homemade hot pocket.
Lol they were delicious! Even my keto self had to try them!
They were delicious! Even my keto self had to try them!
Those look so 😢🤤🤤 I wish my mom would make these for me
So easy but a little bit of a process and a little messy when rolling out any dough. I made pizza pockets and I used left over BBQ rib meat that people were tired of and cheese. Both were delicious but with kiddos the pizza pockets won for sure!
What times dinner
Where did you buy your flour?
We have bought in bulk from azure but the best price is this brand...let me take a pic
It would not let me post a picture but it is arrow head mills. It is organic unbleached all purpose flour that you can find at any grocery store....in my area walmart and HEB
Lol
🙏🙏🙏🙏 Stay safe
Very impressive. ...hg😂
Cuuuuutey
Clueless. Bronner’s isn’t a surfactant? It’s soap, lady! Alkyl glucosides were singled out by dermatologists as Allergen of the Year!!! Avoid avoid avoid!!!!!!
I was referring to coco glucoside as the surfectant not bronners. Coco glucoside is considered a non-ionic surfectant and it does well for my family. To me it's better than others but thanks!
@@HaganHomestead SURFACTANT. Your surfactant is a member of a class of compounds that dermatologists have singled out as allergen of the year!.
Too much work for this Gay Gay! Yall are working machines!!!
Keeps us out of trouble granny!
were they hurrying to the kitchen?
That is good eatin!
Me chiilin with my bb gun seeing that💀
THANKS. REMIND I OF MY GRANDPARENTS AND BLESSINGS
Awesome! Love all the short vids.
Always planning and working!! Yall get me tired!!!!
I can taste those gloves lol
I know right!
I agree 100% i was worried for you at the beginning of the video thankgoodness i seen the rest.
Love this ❤❤❤
The American dream is that you can start with nothing and work toward success, and obtain it. Success is a vague term though. A happy household with good fresh food growing outside is successful even if it's poor. A wealthy family is successful even if they're unhappy. As long as you have a goal and achieve it, you're successful.
100% we are taught to get our education so that we can get a good paying job.....to essentially buy the things we are told that we need. There is something special about this simpler lifestyle and it makes it all so rewarding
@@HaganHomestead Even if you don't live a "simpler lifestyle" but you don't earn a ton of money though. A buddy of mine is a former truck driver who now drives for Uber. He makes a decent wage and is happy, so much so that I plan to do the same in a few weeks. It's not glamorous, but if it pays the bills and you're happy at the end of the day, who cares if you're rich?
we are not wanting to be rich....sorry if that came through. Our thoughts are living a simpler life and not the hussel and bussel of the 9-5 rat race. That's just how we feel. Being in the garden and raising animals are our happy place 😊@@sleepy1697
@@HaganHomestead No I think it was me who was being unclear. I'm saying that no matter what, rich OR poor, it's about doing what you want. If you are happy with simple living and being in the garden then that's a form of success. If you're happy with a 9-5 ratrace job clawing for the top then that's success. It just matters if you're happy. Success is a nebulous word is all I meant.
@@sleepy1697 well you are correct, I couldn't agree more
They can be both.
This is true! I still do both, I love both but my heart is on the homestead for sure
@@HaganHomestead can relate.
last four years finished the old dream
Looks great! Haven’t had great jambalaya. Since your wedding. Not even in NOLA. ❤
This is a great recipe!
I have brain fog sometimes they get bad. I don’t want to take the medication from the doctors. Is there something natural that I could take something herbal that would help me?.
You could try sage. It is brain boosting and helps with memory. I made a tincture for my mom using our home grown sage. Truly, what helped me with brain fog was going on a clean ketogenic diet. I hope this helps friend 🧡
Also, lion's main mushroom coffee by micro ingredients is amazing!
Dude really fired the free pest control smh
🤣🤣🤣 it’s on site when I see a snake. You did right a snake is worth less then a vet bill or a ER visit. 🇺🇸✊🏼
Shame that this snake was non-venomous and had to die. There would have been no ER visit if it had decided to bite. Only some blood drawn at the most.
@@xPrynn well I imagine your a woman and you would take the apple a snake is a snake 💥💥💥💥🤣🤣🇺🇸✊🏼
You should never kill snakes if you find them near your animals! Those snakes may seem scary. You can just leave them alone. They will not eat your chickens. Your chickens are more likely to eat the snake. Snakes are only there if you have a rodent problem and snakes will help control that problem If it is a venomous snake, you can call animal relocator, so the snake will not be harmed and you don’t have to worry about people being harmed I understand, not wanting it if it is eating your eggs, but you can just call a relocator and don’t teach children to kill animals if there is a better solution
Thanks for your concern with our children. We do not normally kill the good snakes....but when you have had a few problems back to back regarding snakes killing our animals, we made the hard choice. I am all about the ecosystem and permaculture but we have had chicks being killed. Trust me we have let others go.
