There's just something about these two synths. They truly are a happy marriage. They have their own sounds. I know many who owns synths perhaps have tried to dial in that specific sound against others, and they may come close, but its never to that exact "nichey"/"inkling" of depth that one or the other offers. It makes synths themselves give way to its own special existence for us all to explo...

When I used to play my OG synths, having pretty much a bunch of synths on a midi chain and split, the sheer joy of being able to transition during a climax was the best feeling ever. Thanks for watching.

Thank you, thanks for dropping by to have a listen! 🙂
That was an interesting feeling…felt like I was in hyperspace out of phase and the galaxies were asking for me to stop by but it’s too late….
You know... that's actually quite the visual, can you imagine if that were an actual reality and routine of life, simply hyperspacing between galaxies as we catch the views of the universe? Compare that to driving about and simply appreciating the trees. Definitely need to take in as much as we can as often as we can when we can.
Great jam! So fatty kick, like this 🔥
Thanks for the kind words, that’s all RYTM for the kick! Still looking to perfect the rumble kick a bit better. Still, heaps of fun to play!
Beautiful patch and demo.
@@nolake thanks my dude!
You gave that patch justice! Hope you enjoyed it! Great piece!
Thanks man. Patches like these aren't one of those go anywhere kind of patch (at least for me anyway). It's unique, it has a specific style and emotion to it that can't be rushed, can't be overdone, its a very patient piece of perfection. I appreciate you creating it! I was trying to tweak around with it, with the after-touches. The Summit allows for 4 banks to where (if I wanted to) blend multiple settings into aftertouch. In the case however for the LFOs, I found it nullified the LFO that was already in the design. Started to open up some design trains on my part, so much under the Summit hood!
nice
Thank you!
This is super fun and sounds great! I'm just starting out on the Rytm MKII and quickly falling in love with it. Keep em coming! 🕹️
Thank you so much for you comment I appreciate you liking it, I'm seeing where there were a few critiques in between for my first go as I listen back to it. I'm working on something else integrating with my digitakt and digitone with the RYTM MKII.
@@embazle that's awesome! I'm diving headfirst into elektron. I've got all the digi boxes and Mk2's now lol. The Octatrack is definitely still a mystery to me. I was able to make an awesome 4 on the floor techno bar, but that's it. The analog four and the Rytm are such a solid combo though.
@ man I envy you, doing it right off the bet. While I don’t regret the synth journey, had I first stated jumping into Elektron the first time around I would’ve been in a very well groomed in place between these beautiful gems. Playing on my boxes as we speak! Best wishes to you and hope to see some of your performances too!
my good man, how have you attached the MAFD with the DFAM in the rack stand?
Great question. I had to email Sonoclast and I got the following answer. Keep in mind though, I have the Moog Studio live so there are some slight centimeter differences potentially with other rack mount instances. They stated the following: "you want four screws sized #6-32 x 1″. I think 1-1/4" might exceed the threads in the DFAM's case. The stock ones are 3/4", I believe, so 1/4" more is enough to reach through the MAFD's case." When you receive the MAFD, you'll see where all the holes allow for it to be connected on the external side of the Moog Studio Live rack.
@@embazle You're an absolute gentleman. I very much appreciate you sharing that information. I'm going for a dual DFAM setup and have been scratching my head wondering about how to implement the MAFD in stand setup. You even shared which stand you're utilizing. Thank you!
@@evilrainbow that would be fun, two DFAMs!😅 would you be getting two MAFDs for programming sequences between the two? While the MAFD does use midi channel 8 and 16, I’m not sure if you can split the dedicated signal paths simultaneously. Another solid question though for Sonoclast! Still the dual DFAM set up sounds like a nice adventure:-)
@@embazle I don't know! I was thinking about trying a DFAM Thing if I needed two midi modules just to try it out. I contacted Sonoclast!
@@evilrainbow I had the DFAM thing… but I specifically wanted to program sequences. The sonoclast was more user friendly in that respect. The DFAM thing does however make a crazy amount of signal sends. For my use with my set up though I wasn’t getting what I wanted it for, it was sick playing with though!!!

Damn didnt see the complete setup. Your synths sound massive
Veryyy nice. Somehow the distortions add to the feeling, normally i don't like that but it's cool here
@@astro_poly thank you. And I concur with your critique as the gain staging is not in its a fixed setting. OBS is the primary limiter, all else is raw coming in through the mixer. Thank you still for appreciating it!
@@embazle i always limit everything in bitwig and then see its somewhere around the -3db in obs. UA-cam has its own limiter too so you shouldnt run it too hard. Also obs limiter kinda sucks, stock plugin of your DAW is probably more stable and better. But again because of the manacing atmosphere of those movie bass its kinda nice actually in this case

I’m glad you liked it. Some sounds weren’t exactly planned, which is kind of the beauty of music in its own storytelling. Thank you so much for having to listen. Have a great day.
@@embazle Yeah, thats always really beautiful and inspiring when the synth makes something you didnt expect. I´ve just bought my first pure synth (had some workstations and stage piano before) and coincidentally, it's the same novation summit that you have. I am really amazed by this synth and how beautiful deep sounds you can make because of the many LFO´s. Having seen your videos motivates me to dive deep, learn everything about it and make the most out of this synth. Its really dope and underrated synth considering the price. Also the moog sub 37 is beautiful. really nice synth with its own soul. Great idea connecting these two.
@@patrikvelek2630 I think that’s awesome. How your journey has gotten you into acquiring the.novation summit! It is quite the pure synth indeed. Personally, I don’t believe it is very forgiving when it comes to the progressive state by which your creation of a patch can very easily go off track. I know this is a very deep. It’s not a user-friendly synth in my opinion for a beginner, there definitely is some appreciation and adeptness to synthesis required to truly appreciate just how much you can get out of it and for what I’ve been used to using in the past does not compare, but that is why I wanted. It is to have this for the rest of my life to learn and dive into areas where I never thought would be possible in my whole synthesis journey. Sometimes I just wanna have a sound and enjoy it and play it and get totally immersed in it. I do hope to someday create some amazing patches, but I have a lot to learn. Congratulations on getting your Summit!
@@embazle yeah, its not really for the beginners. I mean its possible to do just basic sound, I use often just classical OB type of sound with little tweaks like unison and pitch LFO, but what I've found is that things get really impressive when you start to use the LFO's and thats something for me, as being quite beginner, really another world. A lot of options which my fantasy cannot comprehend😂. I experiment a lot and it always makes something interesting.
Very powerful machines under your control. Subscribed for more!
Hey! Thanks for having a look and listen, I'm looking forward to showing you more!
Great jam, it’s actually rare to see and hear such « classical » melody on such machine and it’s refreshing. Nice work.
@@nolake I wish the Summit could create such lush piano sounds! It was nice to marry the summit with the Yamaha CP, it has its own built in reverb and delay which sound pretty decent! But yeah, the Summit as you know does justice. You definitely are more attuned with yours having watched you play and tweak as you play. It’s pretty inspiring actually!
Thank you! But inspiration comes from your place too. Never understood why that synth was so underrated. Even when I see demos on the Muse for almost twice the price, I’m not very impressed and so far I’ve heard nothing that the Summit couldn’t do. I wouldn’t say that for a Polybrute 12 or something along those lines of course but the Muse, still waiting to be impressed but I’ll be someday I’m sure of it.
@@nolake when I first started out with a Korg Minilogue, I became a tuned to the onboard sequencing of synthesizers until the digitakt came along, and it became my master sequencer. Those prior days of mad scientist performances were my favorite. Having a sub 37 And that raw Moog sound, and having love for poly synths, I remembering going a whole year trying to decide which synth was the best, for the bang, the Summit won. It is still so complex to me. The Moog Muse, feels of familiar territory to me, but I wouldn’t be able to offer anything as I’ve never played it, but it looks like it can do a lot. The price that point to compare would have to do an overhaul of justice, especially when compared with a poly brute 12, which it’s analog lusciousness is immediate to the touch such an expressive and wonderful synthesizer. Maybe it’s too soon to judge, but at least Moog chose to offer something rather than going overboard with their Moog One. I still remember when I had a Berenger deep mind 12, it sounded so good. You can’t knock it until you play it. They really made that a good synth. anyway I have no defense to proclaim as I have not gone deep enough on the Summit to give it justice, probably a good discord session for us my dude!😊
You’re right. I also think that there aren’t any bad synths today. People just have to find the synth that suits them best regarding their budget of course. I often advised the Monologue to some friends as I find it really nice to start. It does a lot of things. Both Monologue and XD are great but kind of different. The One is pure jewelry but it’s another dimension. I don’t expect the Muse to be that impressive but I expect it to impress me somehow 😁
@@nolake The monologue was my work around to not having the sub37. It still was such a raw power house. I loved that synth. Having that and the Minilogue was a good time. Same for the volca bass and volca keys, simple but powerful, it shined in its own dedicated sense. I guess that made the improv performances more predictable between the machines, you only can so far and thus you’re not lost in the inspirational space, you get to where performance pieces can be predictable and set quickly.
Noice!! ;) Chilled out and Ambient :)
Hey Scott! thanks man, Always great to play your patches mate.
You’re just using the Summit as a MIDI controller … ?
Yes I am. I’m using a patch called SM Leviathan produced by Scott McAuley for the Summit, and midi controlling the Yamaha CP reface with the Summit. Thanks for listening!
@@embazle So, did you track the Summit first, then this video is you tracking the CP separately?
@@kierenmoore3236 I’m still able to play the summit simultaneously while I’m playing the CP Yamaha, but that is only because of midi. The cable, just transfers the note between the summit and the reface.. so essentially the sounds are simultaneously playing together. The pad on the summit and the piano on the CP. the pads on the summit have a lower attack so allows for the blend between the two sound like they’re within the same instrument. I do this similarly in my other videos between the sub 37 and the summit. If it wasn’t for Midi I wouldn’t be able to do this. It would most likely require how you’re stating to layer sound separately.
@@embazle OK, thanks! I was wondering which way it had been done … but all the envelope control over the Summit’s synth engine makes it make sense … if you follow my meaning … 🙃 Will check out those other vids … Cheers! 🙂
As a Summit owner, my jaw dropped to the floor as I first though that you managed to create such a spectacular electric piano patch on the Summit itself. Then I read the description! 😁 Beautiful playing and music nonetheless. I'm constantly trying to emulate some sort of electric piano with synthesizers but the initial attack portion of the sound never sounds very convincing.
I know what you mean. I Know there are some that come close but nothing like a true piano. And for such emotional pieces, the piano does it. Lush stringy landscapes and pianos are so beautifully paired. Good thing for midi😅. Thank you for listening. ❤
Incredible sound! Great playing! That reverb is magnificent- is that the Summit's built in 'verb?!
