The Birdsville Track, Big Red sand dune and the historic town of Farina
On this solo adventure I travel from the Queensland outback town of Windorah to Birdsville visiting the Betoota Hotel, Deon's Lookout and the indigenous landscape sculpture, Dreamtime Serpent. I drive my 4wd to the top of Big Red sand dune on the edge of the Simpson Desert and then head south down the iconic Birdsville Track to Marree in South Australia with a stop at Mungerannie Hotel on the way. I then continue on to the historic town of Farina to check out the fascinating ruins.

Amazing shots there! Do you reckon 2WD are ok to drive on these road. Also what places are must visit if we are there for only 2 days?

Thanks! Most of the roads are okay for 2WD cars although when I was there it hadn't rained for a while and most of the creeks were dry. It may be more challenging for a 2WD car after rain. If I only had two days I'd recommend checking out Wilpena Pound and Brachina Gorge!

It looks amazing . Is the climb up the bread knife dangerous ?

Hi, most of the Breadknife track is on well-formed paths, but parts of the climb were quite steep with lots of steps. The last part to the summit was over rocky ground but not dangerous. I'm looking forward to doing the walk again one day as it would be even more spectacular on a sunny day!

Beautiful place! I love your video. Really shows the incredible beauty of the Flinders Ranges. I’m planning of staying there for 3 nights to drive on scenic routes and check out lookouts. I’m wondering if the places you’ve drove on is 2WD accessible?

Thank you for your comments! Most of the roads I travelled on throughout the Flinders Ranges would be 2WD accessible although Brachina Gorge Road did have a few sections that would be difficult. With all the roads it would also be dependent on local weather conditions at the time. When I was there, there hadn't been very much recent rain and most of the creeks were dry. Cheers.

This is a beautifully produced video, John. New subscriber here from seeing this. Loved the Sphinx. Sort of reminds me of Sister Rocks in Stawell Victoria. Well done 💯
