Eastern Black Swallowtail Metamorphosis
Beautiful and great butterfly
I'm a Veteran and was just recently honored on the "RIDE OF HONOR". Never have I been so thanked for my services, respected, honored and welcomed home as I was on this day. Thank you to those who made this trip for us possible. What a magical day.
That was a female Black Swallowtail, females have more blue on the wings.
Вот это аппетит!!!
INCREDIBLE!! You are welcome to check out our little guys🐈🐈 :D:D
I miss when neshaminy was a big event before it was cancelled. This was my first battle in my reenacting career.
Great music and video; thanks for sharing.
Does anybody know what kind of plant that is trying to plant some so I can colonize the beautiful black swallowtail
Dill, Parsley... and I think fennel too
Beautiful video! Thank you!
Man, it looks so painful but it's probably not lol
Pretty spectacular.
Super!!!) Papilio polixenes.👍👍👍
It’s about 18 days. See en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Papilio_polyxenes
How long does it take from chrysalis to butterfly thank you
Identified the larva on my cilantro in my herb garden. Placed it in a container with plenty of parsley, cilantro, and dill. It’s in the pupal stage now, awaiting final metamorphosis🦋
Very good work am an expert in that field. I breed almost all papilios
So pretty plz do more 🦋💕
My dill plant is 7 feet tall and I have 20 of these catapilers on it ever year. Such beautiful butterflys
I have a plant called Chinese mandarin orange plant and I keep getting loads of caterpillers on it more than 20
Do the butterflies come visit the plant often as well?
Maybe he is a surrealist! 😃
Wow! Wonderful footage.
Nice Music, Nice Video.
I have 5 cats in a big plastic pretzel jar. Should I split them up in other jars and put small branchs in the jars for to hang from? I have raised Monarchs but this is my first rodeo with Swallowtails. I found them by accident. Had to bring them into my home or tne lizzards would have got them.
Great Video! Well done! LIKE
At 2:33... What is happening on the cocoon ?
Sorry. What is this music?
Vivaldi Concerto in a minor for two violins RV 522
I'm in love with this creature. I just experienced an emergence and posted it. I watched this video among others while I was caring for the caterpillar that ended up in my care to help me figure things out. This is a very nice video.
i always liked the neshaminy event i was in this event 97-2001, i miss doing reenactments but dont have the time anymore
Do they eat Italian leaf parsley I hope?
Henry's Amazing Animals Videos Yes
Bryanzebox good. Thanks.
Found the two cocoons. One to the top of a window on first story and one hanging from the second story window ledge. I forget to look up when looking for them. One is in the dark stage and one is in green. Fun to watch them. Thanks for the video again.
Awesome video! I had three on my dill and one moved over to my parsley plant. The following day two were gone and I didn't see any cocoons but the one on the parsley was still there. That night we had a huge storm and since it was right out my door I decided to rescue it and I brought it into the house and placed it in a vented jar with some parsley. Morning came and it was attached to the side of the jar but not knowing what was going on I pulled the poor thing off to put it back in the garden but it barely moved. Couple hours later I checked on it and it had fallen on the ground but was morphing into the cocoon stage so to protect it I put it back in the jar with netting on top to protect it from the ants. Now we shall see what happens. I hope it will do well and I'll check on it frequently. I love the wonders of nature and I'm now sorry I disturbed it. Likely it would have braved the storm without my help!
I'm waiting for my 2 to do their thing 2 days ago they finished eating all of my parsley I planted.. lol I was going to get them more but noticed they were done.. Thank god those buggers can eat.. holy cow! I had 5 Swallow Tail Caterpillars to start they all chomped for days. Now I need to find out exactly how long they stay in these positions so I can watch them fly off.. And no I don't have a sad existence, I have a nice tattoo with a butterfly connected to it.. ;-)
I have raised hundreds of blackswallowtails, I have no idea what that is coming out of the cat when it is first turning! It looks like a giant tonge!
Judith Hendrickson If it is the orange snake tongue like thing, it's the osmeterium, a defense organ. Smells pretty foul too. That said i used to raise these, but haven't seen them in a very long time ago, since I moved.
It might be that orange thing they have. I can't remember what it is called, but it looks like a snakes tounge and it comes out when the feel threatened and give off a foul smell.
thanks Chrisy, nice job
Jeff has captured real-life moments of our american solders, coming home, leaving for tours, veterans who never had a welcome home and so much more! His archive of missions are truly a gift/Blessing to all who share in the passion of saying simply, "thank you!' Jeff, I am amazed, inspired, and grateful for all the hours and hard work it takes to put all these memories together online for us all to view! Your generosity, thoughtfulness and dedication has given us all wonderful memories to go back to time and time again! I think I can say with confidences, you are appreciated by all! Thank you again for ALL you do!
beautiful:-)
Grown ass men get to play out their war fantasies.. how cool is that?
You guys did a great job!
Everyone seems to be walking around like there is no danger. At least "act" like its life and death fight. It looks horrible to a spectator.
I'm hitting River Road this weekend!
This video is really nice!
I like this! Best video I've found of this caterpillar/butterfly. I'll be showing it to my class and bringing in my caterpillar to show them the "live" version! :) Thanks!
Hoi Jeff very nice I like the music too. Greetings from Maureen and Erik
Hippowhatamis?
Ha! ha! this is funny Jeff. I missed it before I guess.
I bought a parsley plant and found 2 caterpillars in it... At least they have a good sense of taste.
Thanks so much for posting this! I gotta say, I am honored to be a part of such a great group of selfless individuals out there giving our American Heroes the respect they deserve.

Awesome Job Jeff! this is the best "ride report" I've seen!
Great presentation Jeff! Thanks for taking the time to show what we are all about.
