I had this conversation numerous times... but... do you consider DEBUG.EXE to be a native DOS tool? I myself don't think so 💀
@@fsturmat Yes, debug is a part of MS DOS, but i like to use a special version that provide 32 bit instructions. I use batch files as open source container to put all instructions of a routine inside the batch file to create a new executable com files. Most of these batch files have to start with one or more parameter attached to build and modify the routine inside. Example to start with row color "text" attached: CENTER.BAT 8 1b "output center align". I made some videos(no speech) to show how it works in DosBox and to share the projects. Have fun.

@@fsturmat For larger and complex executable i used MASM and NASM, but for tiny executable i like to use debug. But i have to look into the output of debug for jump instructions and memory locations to fix the addresses first.

No you can’t install Doom only with a keyboard, you need a DOS PC too.
10/10 video bro, glad you were able to overcome the burden of shitty arduino libraries written by high schoolers and get doom running
to be fair, the entire IDE has been made with high schoolers in mind. Including libraries is being done by downloading them using their graphical package manager. Want to do some changes to the library? Good luck finding those files first, and then embed them manually 💀 I'm glad that I could ditch it, and instead do everything using my editor of choice and the command line. And I had to use ChatGPT to find out how that is being done, because their documentation is just an inter-deadlinked dumpster fire.

I wanted to buy one now. But luckily I learned that they are still using the same old IBM controller that is not capable of n-key rollover. As a dev I use many key combinations. And this keyboard wouldn't be capable to support anything that goes beyond 2 keys pressed simultaneously. So I'm not going to buy it.

The Enter-keystroke is added by the script, so that when doing the testing on DOS, I don't end up exceeding the 255 character limit and have it beep like a bomb.

I still use a Windows 2000 machine and Firefox ESR to play old HTML games as well as Sonic R. 😇 I do frequently check my drive for malicious stuff but so far so good.
