I know you’re not keen on constructive criticism but imo the music is extremely distracting and not necessary. Your voice is cool and soothing enough.

Why is your handle what it is? Never seen your content. Catholics who leave don't care. Why?
Lucifer's Lantern was an old series of publications in the late 1800s that strongly opposed Mormonism. I thought the name was clever. Lucifer is the enemy of the church and the lantern shines a light on the issues. As for why I still care? I'm just a passionate person, and I like talking about the faith.
@LucifersLantern but you do understand you fit a stereotype right?
@clearstonewindows Yes. I'm 100% aware 😂

The church is very easy to follow but stupid members likes to cause drama in other people life. It makes the church become toxic and leaders are not able to help resolving the problem

The challenge for historians when considering the impact the LDS church had on the USA shouldn't come from the doctrine as much as adhering to the principles of the country.. It is in reconciling what this country was going to stand for that the Mormon history should be scrutinized.. Either there was freedom of religious practices or there wasn't. Historians are taught that it was polygamy that was the real problem with the Mormons being taken seriously. The problem with arguement is that both Juadism and Islam permit for polygamy. What would this country have done had the Muslims raised the polygamy issue before the Mormons? And when it comes to American history or Mormon history, the greater concern should be about what isn't recorded than what is.
@@patrickdeckdoctorokeano9146 Considering that America was supposedly prepared FOR Mormonism, you'd think the church would have aligned a bit better with the country...or vice versa
@@LucifersLantern perhaps. a guaranteed freedom to practice one's religion seems all inclusive. Mormons or no Mormons. The contradictions between this country's principles and Islam remain unanswered. This misalignment still exists. Hate speech laws are going to become very convoluted.
Thanks for the suggestion! I heard about this book but never checked it out. I don't know why, I mean it seems very interesting coming from his mother. I did not know about the controversy, though. Greetings from a Mormon from Germany! Looking forward to reading it! I knew about the dream, though. Edit: I don't think it's bad for you to read longer sections of a book or something else. Fits the „vibe“ well 🌞
I figured I'd just go for it and see how it was received. So thank you for saying something.

I left because I woke up and noticed the chapel was empty except for me.
Left because I couldn't comprehend how a poisonous bioweapon experimental jib-jab being foisted on our societies to crush free will (work of the devil) could at the same time be a "gift from God" (according to the president of the LDS church). Also couldn't stomach being a part of a church that behaves like a corporation instead of a church.

I'm still a practicing member, and would still consider myself a believer, but I've grown to discard some truth claims of the church and remain agnostic on others. I get the sense that you're a sincere truth seeker and strive to be empathetic, which are 2 of my strongest driving principles as well. I love and maintain great relationships with my 3 siblings that left, and I would say I relate more in how I see the world with atheists than i do any other Christian sect. All that to say, if you're hoping to get some viewership from members who are willing to listen, I'm interested in you're perspective : )

The Scriptures warn us of things about our Church leaders we can't see, Preface… concerning the Twelve Apostles of the Lamb...(D&C 112) Behold, vengeance cometh speedily upon the inhabitants of the earth... And upon my house shall it begin... First among those among you...who have professed to know my name and have not known me, and have blasphemed against me in the midst of my house...(D&C 112:24-26) The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail. For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed. (Isaiah 9:15-16) Let no man deceive you by any means...that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition... Who opposeth God...sitteth in the temple of God...(2 Thessalonians 2:3-4) ...until he be taken out of the way. (2 Thessalonians 2:7) While that man, who was called of God and appointed...shall fall by the shaft of death, like as a tree that is smitten by the vivid shaft of lightning. (D&C 85:8) Never in the Bible or any Mormon Scripture does a prophet, apostle or prophetess say, “I promise.” For to do so would make themselves instead of God. Promises are only made by God Himself never by man throughout all Scripture except, Nehemiah 5:23 and Joshua 9:21, where man made a promise for a negative outcome. Beware of promises made by man saying, “I promise” in behalf of the God of Jacob, the Scriptures warn us. And marrying the dead in temples? Where does God say to marry the dead? God never told us to marry the dead only to baptize for the dead. And God warns us to do according to that which is written marrying the dead is not written. (D&C 84:57) (D&C 24:14) (D&C 84:57) And when we follow man and not God look around at the results: We're fighting over public bathrooms and which gender can play sports marriage is different, etc., etc. Why are we administered the Sacrament in a manner that’s against God’s command? (D&C 20:40,46,58,76) (Moroni 4:1) And we wonder why there’s depression, suicide and other heinous events among us? ...the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation...(2 Timothy 3:15) If ye love me, keep my commandments. (John 14:15)

Well you do have the burden of proof, Mason. There is so much evidence God exists and there is ZERO evidence God does not exist. Especially in these modern times. Here's 1 simple case of intellectual proof that I've come to grips with. 👉Attention all atheists👈: Ancient men believed in and wrote about two realities that existed regarding all things throughout their tiny known universe and beyond. Spiritual 'stuff' and physical 'stuff' and... the powers of GOD. They taught that the spirit realm dictates the order and creation of all temporal things seen and unseen. Today, with better modern scientific capabilities, advanced intellectual analysis and observations, we now recognize, observe and admit the effects of an additional unknown matter, an unknown force that cause the very structures, bonding and placement of all things from the order of the tiniest particles of the atom to the placement and realities of every single galaxy throughout our known cosmos. We now identify these things as physical matter, dark matter and dark energy. We say dark because we understand them not and have been trying to capture or measure dark matter for years now but cannot. Some theories postulate the two matters don't actually combine to each other but SOMEHOW the dominance of one controls the other. Here's the kicker. How in this world could those old donkey riders have even imagined such a thing as there being two realities, one unknowable and we see that also today? Let alone, claim it as fact by faith then to be taught to their children and beyond! Who told them such a great knowledge for their day? They claim persons not of this world did. Persons who are GOD who did know. You can see all that evidence in the scriptures. In my books....that is the ONLY way it could happen and I will not call our ancient fathers liars nor should you. There is no wisdom whatsoever to atheistic conclusions or lack thereof. But.... the scriptures clearly teach that spirit matter and physical matter actually do combine in one place only and where powers of GOD thrive. IN A LIVING SOUL😇
Many reasons for leaving any faith are contridictions to what God would apreciate of people.. if you happen to leave do so with an open and curious mind in order to turn back again if necessary.. talking down or bad on people including leadership within a faith is almost proclaiming ones self to be perfect or better.. although this is pissible, it isnt likely.. help out when it is possible.. offer opinions on how to win people over and make the faith a better place.. if you are feeling strong about your faith, gather support and become a church.. win people for God. Try not to do the opposite..
It's unfortunately in and has been in the culture since roughly the 50s. It is taught like an outward showing of quality of 'light' in the faith. All it really is is a scapegoat device. It makes any dunce or low minded individual look like a God among their own peers. The church and it's history is caught up in many messy family feuds + inventing power grabs from invented vacuums. Sometimes this stems from the 'Righteousness'. It's not enough to be in the quality of Righteousness some create their own sunk cost and then binge their own glory stiring misery into it. Church doesn't really teach a sense of being responsible to one's words, moreso to be dependent on their leader's words and the agenda. Everything is more peer driven + peddling petulance for greater esteem. It's that weird Gossip culture wards sort of decay in that finds an outlet outside. You are correct, the music is nice but it overwhelmed your first clip, but no worries no doubt you'll get better over time 👍

@@isaiah-4310 Sad thing is that not many want to know. We are taught from the cradle not to question the leadership. It wasn't just the blacks. He hated women and looked upon them as less than men. I choose to believe that Jesus is the only one I should follow and there is no covenant path that leads us back to our Heavenly home.
Hmmm, why did he cleanse the Temple twice if covenants weren't important?
@@scolatics Because He said it was his Father's house. That doesn't mean that we can only be saved by making covenants in that house. And then you may want to recall what Jesus said when the temple veil rent in twain. He said "it is finished" and then He died. Why would the temple veil be rent in twain at the time of His death and why would He say "it is finished" just after the veil was rent in twain.
@@icecreamladydriver1606 Saying this I assume you believe the scriptures are true if they be true, then you must believe in baptism to be saved. If this all be true, how do you reconcile Romans 8:17? Baptism gives you the gift of the Holy Spirit. It does not give you the promise of exaltation. How then do you obtain this promise if not through temple covenants? He said "it is done" as reference to the work and will God the Father gave him to do. This doesn't mean that OUR work and mission was completed by Christ. OUR work and mission is to take his name upon us, through covenants, obey his commandments and remain faithful to him and the covenants we make with him and then stay remain that way to the end of our lives. Why should a sacrifice as great as his be made for those who care so little about him as to say "Lord! Lord!" and leave it at that. Works are absolutely necessary. All things he asks us to do are works. Baptism is a work. Prayer is a work. Charity is a work. The very act of having faith (especially in these last days) is a work. It is the gift of his atoning sacrifice combined with our works that leads to exaltation.
@@djlarkin76 Read 3Nephi 11. You do't have to go to the temple in order to be baptized.
@@icecreamladydriver1606 if the temple was built as his father's house and was used for covenants between God and the Israelites, how can the temple not be important? Was God just playing around with them?

The tapir was a modern choice out of desperation to try and reconcile what the Nephites might have considered a horse because some modern studies show that the tapir DNA closely resembles the DNA of horses. Of course, this is because the Book of Mormon had always been theorized to have taken place well beyond the US/Mexico border. There isn't much mystery about it anymore because horse bones have been found in North America dating to much later than the past theories of a general extinction 10,000 years ago. Which brings the existence possibilities much closer to BoM times and not to mention, ancient dating methods can be hopeful at best. Radiocarbon dating is considered effective for organic materials as far back to 50,000 years old, with a margin of error of a few decades to a few centuries or even more. "Educated" guessing. Other organic contamination factors can be an issue also. There are also testimony of Native folklore supporting they had horses before the Spanish arrived coupled with the Jaredites and the Nephites both probably brought some horses with them.

Horses in Early America??? How does the cultural history presented in the Book of Mormon compare to recent research into the lifestyle of the North American Indian people, which suggests that they were an agrarian civilization? Additionally the mention of horses, which critics have pounced upon, is there evidence to support their existence. The following comes from Hugh Nibley’s Book of Mormon religion class lectures at BYU: This is the main crux, this is the strongest argument, supposedly, that has been raised against the Book of Mormon. Well, what about these horses it’s talking about here? What’s the objection? Why shouldn’t they talk about horses? A few years ago, Masseyn Driver did an exhaustive study of all the Indians of North America, everything that was known about them since the time of their discovery. Ninety percent of them were agricultural; they weren’t hunters at all. They cultivated and lived in villages, and they were settled people. Driver’s study was published by the American Philosophical Association, and it’s the best summary of American Indians to date, considering all their tribes, all their distribution, their culture, what they had, and everything. It’s a big work. Nibley, then noted the following scriptures: “The people of Nephi did till the land and raise all manner of grain, and of fruit, and flocks of herds, and flocks of all manner of cattle of every kind, and goats, and wild goats, and also many horses.” Enos 1:24 Additionally: “And now it came to pass that the people of the Nephites did all return to their own lands in the twenty and sixth year, every man, with his family, his flocks and his herds, his horses and his cattle, and all things whatsoever did belong unto them.” 3 Nephi 6:1 These horses, etc., are very interesting; that has always been an issue. My friend Woodrow Bora worked for years on that at Berkeley. That was his field, and he was convinced that the Spanish didn’t bring the first horses here at all. There were plenty of them, and he talks about that. In another lecture Nibley highlights additional cultural details regarding the use of horses and how the Book of Mormon gets the cultural history correct in terms of the use of horses: Lamoni asked, “Where is this man that has such great power? . . . He is feeding thy horses.” Now this is very important - feeding the king’s horses. You never find in the Book of Mormon anybody riding a horse. You never find any horse but the king’s horses. In Egypt after the eighteenth dynasty you find lots of pictures with horses in them. You know the [movie] Ten Commandments and that sort of thing. The kings of the eighteenth dynasty, because they were Asiatics, adopted the light chariot. And, of course, we have the chariot of King Tut. But you never find anybody riding a horse. No, this riding custom is very set in the world. For example, would you or I go ride a giant water buffalo in Southeast Asia? No, it might cost your life, but little eight- and ten-year-old boys do. These little naked kids sit around all day long on these buffaloes, push them around, and lead them everywhere. Isn’t that a strange thing? We don’t ride bovines; we don’t ride horned creatures. Other people wouldn’t dream of riding [a horse]. … these brethren in the Book of Mormon who make their long missionary journeys that go for years all over the country. Wouldn’t you think that they would be riding horses too if the king had horses? Why aren’t they riding horses the way the Indians do later? Well, this is an interesting thing. Where do we first find horses being used? They were being used in Mesopotamia. In 4000 B.C. horses and mules were pulling these heavy old wagons, but never is any of them ridden. They were not ridden; they were to pull wagons. These customs are a funny thing, and so we find it here. It’s just the king’s horses that are mentioned. My friend Woodrow Bora is a specialist in Latin American history at Berkeley. We shared an office together and we were very good friends. He made a study of the horse and pointed out some very interesting things about the horse in Central America. When the horse first appears in America, it appears all of a sudden on the plains. And the Indians who ride horses are absolute accomplished experts; they ride better than any people on earth. As I said, these customs are extremely conservative. For thousands of years you ride or you don’t ride; it’s a tradition or it isn’t. When white men first saw horses on the plains, they saw Indians riding them with consummate skill. The big place for trading horses, as you notice, was Santa Fe. The horse trading between Mexico and the continental United States was there, but the horses were not traded from Mexico up to the plains. They were all traded from the plains down to Mexico, through Santa Fe to the south. The horses didn’t come from the Spaniards up this way; they came from the Indians down south. There were plainsmen up there who rode and were awfully good and accomplished riders. He [Bora] said some other things: The big horse market at Santa Fe was all for getting the horses there from the Midwest and selling them south into Mexico to the Spanish. In Homer they have the chariots and are great charioteers, as you know. But nobody ever rides a horse in Homer. In [the story of] David and Goliath nobody rides a horse. And you find the same thing in the Battle of Marathon, for example. The fellow ran himself to death to go to Athens to announce the victory at Marathon. Why did he do that? Why didn’t he ride a horse? It’s a funny thing. People use horses or they don’t, and they use animals in very specialized ways-just as we don’t ride cows. Yet we used oxen. They were much more valuable than horses in crossing the plains. So Ammon was making the king’s horses and chariots ready. As in Egypt just the king used them only for special ceremonial occasions. Only the king, nobody else used them. Well, the custom still applies. Only the British royalty can have a coach and eight white horses. Only an emperor could have a quadriga, four horses, in Rome. These horse and riding rules are very strict. The Germans eat horses, and I ate horses all the time when I was on a mission. Other people wouldn’t think of eating horses. And so it goes. Notice that Ammon is feeding the king’s horses and getting his horses and chariots ready for a ceremony because he is going to a big affair, a big “general conference.” These horses are an interesting thing. The point is that they made a great thing about horses being an anachronism and this, that, and the other. That’s not necessarily so; the horses come and go. They do in Europe, too. Various types of horses appear, like the little Polish horse that appeared and then disappeared entirely. Then there are the great horses, like these enormous Belgian horses with hooves like kegs that were used by the Crusaders. There are all sorts of horses. Then the Arab horses are something very special, and the Arabs never ride their horses when they migrate, only for races and displays. I had a special engraved invitation (I think I still have it) from King Hussein’s secretary to attend the horse and camel races by the Dead Sea way back in 1964. The place is completely destroyed now; there is nothing left of it. They lead their horses and carry their horses, but they never would ride them across the desert. They ride the camels and lead the horses. The horse is a family pet...
The horse is a family pet, and the races are to show off. They are short races that only last a little while. They must be very violent because the horses usually bleed [profusely] from the nose in these races. I don’t know why that is. They are hypersensitive, very intelligent, lovable beasts. Considering this treatment of animals, we don’t know what they may have had in the way of horses [in the New World]. The Egyptians had horses in the royal establishment, and King Solomon had a huge stable, as you know. But they haven’t found any horse bones, so don’t expect to find very many horse bones here. Anyway, Ammon got the king’s horses ready. (I mustn’t slow down too much here.) Verse 12: “And it came to pass that when Ammon had made ready the horses and the chariots for the king . . . he saw that the countenance of the king was changed; therefore he was about to return out of his presence. And one of the king’s servants said unto him, Rabbanah, which is . . . powerful or great king . . .” Do you think that is Hebrew? It is not Hebrew. Remember where these people came from? (I have the note I took from the big Aramaic lexicon.) Question: When the Nephites and the Lamanites went to battle against each other, did they go on foot? Answer: Yes, they were usually on their feet. Well, that usually happens when you go to battle anyway. It was the Assyrians and the Romans who introduced the cavalry. The cavalry is Asiatic, as you can see from people like Genghis Khan and the Persians. As Xenophon said, the three things required of every Persian youth were “to shoot the bow, ride the horse, and speak the truth.” They used to say that a man was considered less than a man-he had come down and was not human as soon as he got off a horse. You could spend your whole life on them. There are people in Central Asia who do-like the Kingiz who spend all their days on horses and never get off. They sleep and eat on them and everything else. In other words you either do or you don’t [use horses]. These people [in the Book of Mormon] had them, but only for rare occasions; they were just ceremonial beasts. Lions are used the same way. Lamoni said to Ammon, “I will go with thee to the land of Middoni.” There Ammon is making ready the king’s horses and chariots. That’s a thing for only a noble person to do. The equestrian, the one who takes care of the king’s stables, is the constable. Who is the constable of France? He is the one next to the king. The constable is the one who takes care of the king’s stables, and that’s as high as you can get. Remember the great speech the constable of France gives in Henry V? He was the one that settled the peace between England and France; he was the king’s highest representative. So horses are a strange, exotic thing. You can’t generalize about horses too much, as I’m doing here. But in the Book of Mormon they were imported from the plains to the north. As my friend Woodrow Bora found out, all the trade in horses between the continental United States and Mexico was not in taking Spanish horses up to the continent. They brought them down from the plains through Santa Fe to Mexico. They were brought to Mexico, not from Mexico. He finds that significant, along with other things. Well, we won’t bother with horses too much. They raise lots of [Arabian horses] here in the valley up toward Pleasant Grove, but they are mixed. They are a rare, exotic, imported animal, and only for kings. Maybe a great duke might have one. The riding horse was very limited throughout the Middle Ages. In England by the forest laws of the Normans no Saxon was allowed to ride a horse. Only a noble could ride a horse. Well, what is the common word for knight on the continent? It’s Ritter, a rider. Only someone of noble blood could ride a horse, the noble knights. That’s from the Equestrian Order of Rome. The Equestrian Order were only those of noble blood. They were equestrians. They could ride a horse, and nobody else was permitted to ride a horse. You had to have a particular blood line. They were very special animals, usually limited just to kings until they became useful in war, etc. But we find the same thing [with other animals]. Throughout Europe you will find, where you never expect to find them, peacocks and elephants and camels. Frederick II, king of Sicily, had those, but they were rare and exotic things that always caused excitement. You would find them clear up in England sometimes. It’s the idea of these strange beasts appearing and being taken care of. This is the picture you get in the Book of Mormon. Only kings have them, and he is taking care of the king’s horses for his chariots. Nobody rides horses in the Book of Mormon. As we said before, nobody rides horses in the Near East, just as nobody rides bicycles-just as we don’t ride water buffaloes here. We would be scared to death to do it, but they do it in southeastern Asia. So just to summarize, I think Nibley provides some very solid evidence as to there being horses in America during Book of Mormon times, but I think equally or if not of much more importance is that Joseph Smith get’s the cultural history perfectly in terms of how horses were used during this period. If the Book of Mormon was a fraud Joseph Smith would have had the Nephites/Lamanites riding the horses, but he doesn’t. What a testimony of the Book of Mormon and Joseph Smith; how would he have ever got this right without divine help!!!
