i love it when things are chinese!!!! the bulk of the animations i did for this i did in china, though i am now just freshly back in the u of states. I really realllly wanted to get this out before 2024 ended (happy new year!!) so I scoped down a lot of the animations I had planned; many of the designs and animations I based off of various chinese traditional dance moves, as I've done a bit of that too, but I ended up having to choose simpler moves than I originally intended to get this done on time. a couple of flavor notes though: the 1-4-7 pattern that usually goes to the owl in the base rhythm doctor game is given to a feng yi that is doing a pose from a peacock dance (TOUGH recreating that specific hand gesture in pixels but I think I managed), and the swing svt beat patterns that usually go to the barista nicole are given to a feng yi doing a teahouse waiter dance.
other than that, I think this was a really straightforward chart to design. i came up with those three main gimmicks of the 1-4-7, specifically because the nurse's spoken cue matches up with the 1-2-3 pattern that happens at the beginning of the song (AND rhymes with it!!), and then wanted to do something with swing beats since I haven't put them in a chart yet and I thought this song fit that mechanic. being the shortest level i've charted by far, I think it's also the easiest, since I was able to S+ it in one recording take (for ref, I'm p sure butcher vanity took me like 4 takes, and sugarvine took maybe 10. i was deeply sleep deprived when doing the latter)
anyways!! i love doing rhythm doctor levels and i'm def doing more. I hadn't planned to chart this specific song when it first dropped, but I was looping it while procrastinating an assignment and started to chart those mechanics out in my head so i just gave in. thank you again flavor foleys for the good song and the perms to put the thing up on steam
2024 has been a slow year with covers, and i don't want to promise anything since I think I will continue to be busy with other things into 25, but I promise I haven't been idle either! if i'm not making covers, i'm making charts, and if i'm not doing that either, i'm doing something else that i hope i'll be able to share this coming year..... we shall see........
