i've decided to to a 5.3 l33 swap using a t56 trans and a bmw 540i rear end.

Gallardo - 2006 . Hooked up to a trickle charger Bonnet open . Remote lost synch , not working . Manual key insert into door lock and turns 90 degrees in both directions and the door still won't unlock .

the engine has drop in steel sleeves with orings, unlikely there is a water jacket issue

bought an 85 with only 16,000km on it...interior is pretty shot as it sat outside in texas for 10 plus years but mechanically it seems pretty sound, plan on a full restomod on this beauty

Is the body kit made of what material? I hope it's not made off of fiberglass?

I have to be honest with you --- its not worth the effort or money. Part it out. IF it was a running car and complete it would have a chance. At least its a manual car. The auto cars have frankly horrible performance. its very common that the fuseboxes burn out and mechanics who don't understand what's going on jerry rig the wiring. Replacing just one of the turbo's is more than the car is worth -- and it has 2. And they go bad. If the water pump seizes the timing belt breaks -- and they are not very good water pumps and the bearings go bad from just sitting. There's a reason why these are so cheap.

Great of you for saving this darling. The car is clearly underestimated, even though it has/had many teething problems (The Biturbo was designed and built within a year due to the impending bankruptcy of the parent company!!!) The timing chain is a problem, but there are now many, better replicas. Carburetors always cause problems, but there are many forums on the internet that have useful tips and addresses. There are some Biturbo clubs in Europe that can also help. I hope you complete the restoration successfully and wish you all the best!!!

The hot water valve leaked on my LG. You should have changed the hot side too. Hot water does more damage. You got me thinking I should change out the cold side too.

Sl r230 with black series widebody is a lifehack which only few are aware off :). Whata a looker, ypu put that thing next to ferraris or porsche and probably it will look more badass, thats my next car for sure but dont know if gonna build one from scratch or buy a ready project

for 184k the car looks good, you might want to check tavarish video's, he has an SL55, he had some similar issues and he fixed them on camera, brake warning is one of them.

That engine power cut is caused by the charge cooler pump failure. It's an easy fix.

Lovely car. The SL55 AMG is timeless. Who would believe that it was designed over 20 years ago! That car which you have seems to have only minor issues. I look forward to following your progress on getting that beautiful car sorted. I also own a 2003 SL55 AMG, I have owned it since 2008! I love it.
