In discussing David's sin with Bathsheba, I missed a perfect opportunity to highlight God's incredible mercy and redemptive love. Do you know that Bathsheba goes on to give David his son Solomon, and that this Solomon is the very line that our Messiah came through? Amazing. This is how He is. He will do the same for us. As we walk with him, in obedience and humility, he will turn the fallen and broken places into something special.

Enjoyed your reading very much! Giving back to chapter 39: 30 I didn’t understand it? Found out! It was animals that feed on the blood of the slain, which in turn stopped the spread of diseases! How great is our God ! Also the animal with fire 🔥 reminds me of a dragon 🐉 but really loved these last chapters and the conversation between The Almighty and Job! A lot of people I have spoken too ! Do not believe this story actually happened but was sent as an example of Gods character!! I do believe it happened especially the way it was written and the ending? As a newish Christian! Jobs example and Gods Wisdom is a great inspiration to follow! I look forward to your next reading? Which is really helping me to have my daily bread! I don’t always comment? I have since learned that when Jehosaphat says he is going "down" to Samaria to see Ahab, it refers to elevation rather than longitudal direction. Samaria may be north of Jerusalem, but it is at a lower elevation.

As I am reading back through for 2024, I am finding the book of Judges fascinating. Isn't it interesting how the Bible hits different at different times? This time I am noticing more life principles. I think of them as spiritual laws that God has woven into the fabric of human life. For example, whenever the Israelites began to push God away and practice evil, they would begin to be overtaken by a foreign nation. Then the pattern would play out where they would get tired of being oppressed, cry out to God, and he, in his great mercy, would send a redeemer to deliver them. The evil overlords would be decimated, not because God is a bloodthirsty killer, but just the opposite. People were getting hurt, society was run amuck, chaos ruled, and he had to put a stop to evil lawlessness. These types of life lessons are not just prolific in Judges, but occur throughout the Bible.
