    These cars were called the forgotten generation from 73-77. I have a 1976 Malibu Classic Black in color. It had the week 305 engine in it. It now has a 1994 TBI 454 (throttle body injected) with the first gen electronic overdrive transmission (basically a electronic 700R4 transmission). Funny thing is the original 305 was 210hp and the 454 is 230hp, but 300ft lbs of torque There is a vacuum leak somewhere causing a high idle situation I have similar issues with the left rear quarter with the paint cracking that was done in lacquer paint and the rest of the car is in enamel paint The a/c dashes always are cracked unless you have a non a/c dash they seem not to crack right down the middle or look like the one this car has The only way I will ever get rid of this car if someone has a 1978 Dodge Lil Red Express truck that I possibly could trade for. I would not care if the engine or trans run in that truck I would swap it out for a newer Hemi engine in it.

I’ve watched a ton of these videos and they are so boring sometimes that I fall asleep and the music in this video is great, some of my favorite songs are on this video. The other 2 holes on your accelerator pump arm are for amount of "squirt" that the accelerator pump puts out. If you mash the gas and it dies off, you move it to the outer hole for more of a shot, just the opposite if it bogs down, you might have too much, so you move it to an inner hole. Between that and swapping out metering rods and springs you can really wake an Edelbrock up.

    The Pan sounds good. That hard tail would not be comfortable for my bad back but it looks good. I've owned my kick only Pan for 25 years now, there are easier ways to start it. You didn't say, but it looks like a S&S Super B carb, it will work. If you start by putting the choke on, ignition off and kick it through 3 or 4 times with no throttle it will draw gas into the cylinders. Then turn on the ignition, hold the throttle at 1/4 open and start it. It should start with 3 or 4 kicks, if it doesn't start in 10 kicks then it is best to turn off the ignition and choke then kick it through a few times with the throttle held full open to clear the gas from the cylinders, then start the procedure over again. That choke is on or off so when it gets warm enough to start running rich you can turn off the choke. I have a S&S Super E carb on mine so the procedure is a little different with mine. You have a lot more general knowledge of different vehicles than I do and I watch so I can learn from you, thanks.

    • @warrensgarage4764
      @warrensgarage4764 Рік тому

      It’s kinda had to tell in the video but it’s actually a late model (90s) soft tail frame. The front legs and neck have been cut and stretched. I did basically the same process as what you described just different amounts of kicks and throttle. I also spaced off putting the choke on at the beginning. Probably would have saved me a ton of kicks Thank you for your support and input it means a lot. Encouraging comments help keep the motivation going to make more videos.

    By the way the sr torquer heads will cost about $850 ready to bolt on no prep necessary which is cheaper than machining a used set if heads.

  • @douglasvanriper2323
    @douglasvanriper2323 Рік тому

    Ok if you want that motor to run properly take those 305 heads and chuck them in the garbage, they have very small intake runners and small valves. Do yourself a favor go buy a set of world products sr torquer heads they have the smaller combustion chamber and 1.94 in. 1.50 in. Valves as apposed to 1.78 in. and 1.48 in. intake and exhaust valves respectively and vortex style intake and exhaust runners. The 305 heads will never give you power over 4500 rpm on a 350(5.7 liter) they are way too airflow restrictive for a 350. That motor will make good torque just off idle and fall flat on its face at about 4000 to 4500 rpm. Seriously those heads a junk smog heads.

    • @warrensgarage4764
      @warrensgarage4764 Рік тому

      I couldn’t agree more With todays head options there are tons of better combos But with that being said the direction of this build didn’t have room in the budget for new new heads Thank you every much for your support and feed back

      I’m assuming your saying that because of the position of the distributer or because of how it cranked? The distributer can be off a tooth or two and I can correct it by turning it a little further then normal. It cranks slow because the starter is weak and the 305 heads bump up the compression a bit.
